    Chelsea

And now they are allegedly pursuing a £77 million deal for Gvardiol for next year. Insane.
  2. What do you mean "if"?
  3. I said pretty much this and got called a Trump supporting Brexiteer despite being neither American, English or trusting of any politician at all. I hate them all equally. We are in a spot of bother, and while throwing out Gerrard might be part of the solution, we cannot see it as the totality of it.
  4. I think so too, but we have to acknowledge what TRO is saying, that there is the possibility that there is more to it than that. I mean Smith struggled as well, and the squad isn't absolutely miles different in terms of people. Again, I am not trying dto defend Gerrard, I am just keen on fixing all possible faults, not just one. At this point we can all see the same things on the pitch, so we have to trust the club and their process. They have better insight into mood, timings etc than us. Again, this is NOT ABOUT DEFENDING OR KEEPING SG.
  5. Not being backed how?
  6. There is no alternate dimension where Dyche is good for us.
  7. I think it was a case of 'brand awareness', which makes sense from a CEO point of view. Appointing Gerrard was a business decision IMO. I don't give much credence to baseless speculation of famboyism and Purslow's ego. Looking at what we actually know and trying to make sense of it, using the approach that each of us tries to do our jobs to the best of our abilities, the think that makes most sense is weighing Gerrards lack of experience against a potential increase in brand awareness and all the possibilities that comes with that. I think the club decided to try and expand the Villa fanbase, revenue possibilities etc by tapping into Gerrards status as a footballing superstar, and simply thought that outweighed the risks with him not being up to it due to lack of managerial experience and know-how. They might even have pitched it to SG that way, him reassuring them he has 'excellent staff to help'. And from the looks of it, the club is heading straight towards failure on all points.
  8. Yeah, the statement from the club mentioned some vague thing about a philosophy of mutual respect, so seems it was a divided squad. Elphick is now their assistant coach.
  9. And looking like we won't get much more over the line before deadline either. Still time I suppose, but I feel that the club isn't liking the prices right now.
  10. Well put. I try to stay somewhat positive, but it's hard.
  11. Feels big moneyball-ish to be honest. And I want to see Buendia and Bailey be incisive and both create for another and score. When Bailey got a few extra seconds against Bolton he didn’t drag or fluff his shot as he did against Bournemouth and West Ham.
  12. Don’t you worry. Seems like the handbrake got pulled big time on that. Probably no in incomings until January at the earliest.
  13. How big is Villas analytics department?
  14. I think it depends. A good leader gets good people together, and make things work. At this point, Gerrard doesn’t come across as a good leader, things are shit, and I quite frankly don’t trust Gerrard on Beale. We were shit then too, and he’s doing kinda’ shit on his own as well, isn’t he? Then again being half the coach compared to Gerrard isn’t worth much in the eye of the beholder right now, is it?
  15. Yes, the more I think about it, the less I understand how the club came to the conclusion that Gerrard was the guy. And just saying it was Purslow is a cop out, because if that is the case the club has given him powers he cannot handle. Recruitment is a process, players and managers. Technical scouting, video scouting, in person, intervenes etc etc. That needs to be fixed. right now we are so desperate we seem willing to accept just about anyone in order to get rid. That won’t lead down a path to growth. Wy wasn’t an unproven man given a shorter or more incentivized contract for example? He got what, 2 years? 3? Can’t remember.
  16. Yes, correct in the sense that he could have copy pasted that from here. Not even one of the usual bollox like ‘according to people familiar with Tyrone Mings thinking’. it just doesn’t add anything we haven’t already suspected or speculated on, and it certainly confirms absolutely nothing. it’s a rotten piece, phoned in. Even worse than Villa’s defence.
  17. I mean it’ll be impossible to build a revenue base even close to the big lads now that FFP clamps down on everyone trying to go nuts trying to get in. It’s just impossible. It wasn’t that long ago those sums were deemed to be crazy for a season. Now they get you a player. in a sense, I hope the coming financial collapse brings back football to its roots, but unfortunately clubs will die and it’s going to hurt people that probably need football to cheer them up as their personal finances go to shit really fast. I guess it will at least bring a reset of sorts.
  18. So he read VillaTalk and wrote a fluff piece? Why even give it air. We know it’s dire, we don’t need more journalists lies with little in form of sources that confirm what we have speculated on for weeks. Gutter journalism.
  19. It is our average position chart. It’s an average of all individual player events. How we ended up like that I do not know, and I don’t think even Gerrard knows. But do understand it is an average of each players co-ordinates for on the ball events. It’s not our formation or the totality of our shape.
  20. Indeed. And mostly the same thing is said over and over.
  21. We’ve done jack shit for decades and we keep tossing our supposed potential in the bin. Not all teams can be top 6 or even 8. We’ll be competing with them for scraps for decades, until one or both of us falls away indefinitely. Fun tImes.
  22. Don’t worry, rejoice in the fact we won’t ruin his career.
