Very level headed and something I've been trying to cling on to. The part that worries me most was against Palace, when we came out the second half with much the same shape as before. I didn't mind the absence of subs as much as the fact that we'd done essentially nothing to address our lack of cohesiveness and co-ordination in both attack and defense.

This does my head in when I watch is play! We can't do it using the ball, either a a team or through individual brilliance, and we have few players if any that can drag defenders around. I think Couts showed flashes agains WHyU when he suddenly found some space, but not nearly enough. We very much need to try something els.e

Yes, but that is down to the system the manager want to play. I assume Gerrard plays the lads he thinks fits his shit system best. It's not working. Again, I am not absolving him of anything.

Let me clarif as I worded it poorly; in addition to the above two alternatives I gave, it could of course be a combination. But we have to at least entertain the possibility our squad isn't as good as we think. And that is not me absolving SG of anything.

I think you are quite right, but we seriously need to show we actually have the capacity to at least give it a good go. If we fail at that, we must at least be able to make ourselves a relatively consistent mid-table team that is know for being well-run and out of danger most years.

This. SG isn't the first one to struggle with roughly this lot. I have not seen a thing that suggests they are anywhere near top half quality. Hopefully a new manager might unlock their potential, but I think they are just shit at football too.
