  1. Sometimes it works. Just look at the current World champions. Not saying I want Carsley, just that he shouldn't be rules out on the basis of worrying about looking 'small time'.
  2. My dad is adamant that you can't tell the difference between Pepsi, Coke and cheap brands, he says they're all the same with a different label.
  3. A goal contribution every 132 minutes in the Premier League. Even with a bit of a cooling off period he's still very productive overall. He'll be fine.

The hypothetical potential XI is ridiculous.
  5. I've not seen where it's 1 point in the playoffs. But even so, you get 1 point for being runner up in Conference League group, so that's potentially 3 points to the winners 2.
  6. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like English teams all winning their Europa and Conference League groups is a bad thing? Based on the below, and confirmation that teams still earn co-efficient points in the playoff round, we gained 2 points from winning the group and runners up gain 1.. but then runners up can potentially earn an additional 4 points in the playoff round that we aren't in because we earned our right not to be?
  7. I would be curious to see how many teams have ever had a 13 point haul from 5 games and gone down that season.
  8. I suppose the rule exits as a technicality to stop players shifting a free kick themselves and hitting it or just running with the ball and not making a pass for a quick free kick. Maybe it needs to treat hitting the woodwork as a 'player'.
  9. I don't disagree that the football is mostly poor to watch. But I think people are already rewriting history that still exists. Youth football is mostly irrelevant in the bigger picture, and we have 1 centre back, no left back, 1 wide player and most people don't rate Pickford. Like I said, much better managers with much better squads have failed to win. There's this bizarre notion that teams 'should' win something. France are one of the best ever International sides and have won 1 of 4 tthe last 4 tournaments, despite being the best team in every one they've entered by some considerable distance.
  10. It depends what you mean by 'competitive', any you can make an argument for literally any league being so. Is the Brasileirao the most competitive league in World football? 27 points between title and relegation, 6 teams were within a shout of the title with 3 games to go. Or is it just that there is not especially any stand out quality that everything is average, and in that sense is it being 'competitive' even a good thing?
  11. Personally never understood this narrative. We've had much better managers with much better squads do worse. I think whoever takes over will do incredibly well to even equal Southgate's record.

It's crazy to me how many people consider him up there as the best right back in the World. You could easily argue he's not in England's top 3 right backs.
  13. I hope Potter stays away. He's a good coach but going in to another big club mess is not going to work out for anyone.
  14. Make it so that all none playoff teams have equal chance in the lottery.
  15. A bit poor and lethargic overall. Happy Zaniolo got his goal. Chambers can't be trusted with any kind of meaningful minutes again this season, as soon as he comes on it feels like we can concede 2/3 easily.
  16. Very worried about no Dougie. I think he's by far our most important player in terms of how we play.
  17. I can't believe quite how good he is on the ball. There's lots of defenders that get the 'ball playing defender' tag, and often they're just very tidy. But this lad is a genuine creator.
  18. I can accept that people don't like the rules. Though I appreciate I am very much in the minority regarding handballs. I still find it insane people think players should be able to use their hands and go unpunished. The only part of the rules I don't agree with, using Livramento v PSG as an example, is that a penalty is too harsh and indirect free kicks need to be introduced. I see the use of the word 'accidental' a lot, but most fouls are accidental too and we shouldn't just play on when it happens.
  19. Wish him the best, but I don' rate him at all as a manager. Glad that he was the one to get us up, couldn't have handpicked a better bloke. But I don't especially expect him to do very well over there, could be his last job at any meaningful level.
  20. I can't believe how many pundits are complaining about VAR with this decision. Lets completely ignore the fact that the decision is correct anyway... it wasn't made by VAR. In a VAR-less World, the decision is handball because the referee has give handball. It's actuall a textbook example of perfect use and maybe its a cultural thing, but if people can't understand this decision then they'll never understand VAR. As an NFL fan, I'm used to their video replay system and unless they can prove that 100% the on field call is wrong, they don't change it. With this VAR, people expect them to just completely change this decision because of what, they don't think the handball was 'enough of a handball'? Even still, it's not a 100% wrong decision.
