  1. Just checked that his twitter backdrop hasn't changed from the lion he put there a few days ago. It hasn't. On the assumption CH is definitely leaving Barnsley, he's currently either considering another offer(s) and playing his cards close to his chest or he's simply waiting for the last few details to be sorted before joining us. Fingers crossed.
  2. It's a good question. Bree is not a 17 year old that has been performing for a League One or Two team. He's 19 and has playing well for a team currently above us in the league. I'll trust SB's judgement on when to play Bree but, fitness permitting, I'd like to think it will be sooner rather than later.
  3. There could be a few reasons why this transfer is taking longer than anticipated, including several harmless things that don't put the deal at risk, but for some reason I'm concerned. Probably because CH is the player most likely to do a good job in a position we are so desperate for.
  4. The signing I'm currently most concerned about. I'd also be praying if I thought it would do any good.
  5. Shouting in English works as well as learning any language.
  6. I agree. We should sign his current captain to help him settle in.
  7. It's like a new signing.* * copyright HDE.
  8. He will have been keeping fit during training and won't be too tired from playing (1 game plus 15 minutes as a sub) in the last 2 weeks. No excessive travel or time differences to worry about either. If ever you have to lose a player to an international tournament, Kodjia's 1 game played and quickest possible return with no jet lag has been almost ideal for Villa. He should be able to start against Brentford next week, imo.
  9. I'd prefer that. My 5 o'clock shadow appears around lunchtime.
  10. Looking closely at the photo, it's no more than a bit of stubble and shadow and certainly not approaching a beard. I expect even 19 year old lads can grow a '5 o'clock shadow' between Saturday and Tuesday!
  11. Remember the days of guessing how many club representatives would be at the press conference then deducting that from the number of chairs that were first in view to deduce whether that meant a single, double or triple player announcement?
  12. Need to pull you up on that one; given the awards our hospitality department have won.
  13. Whilst Elphick arrived with a decent footballing reputation (certainly for our current level), unfortunately he seems to have suffered from the footballers equivalent of a golfer's 'yips'. He made a couple of early mistakes that were punished and it got to him. Ever since, he seems to be trying too hard which has lead to more errors and compounded his problem. There are way too many instances of the ball getting stuck under his feet or letting the ball bounce unnecessarily, for Elphick to be considered as a first choice pairing. Trouble is, whenever he's been given a run of games and had the chance to get his confidence back, he's made an occasional mistake and gone back to square one again.

    Tasers

Have you ever been threatened with an appetiser?
  15. He drinks L'amour with someone called Des. So what?
  16. Even if a player's contract is ending in 6 months, competing clubs can dictate what a players sale value is. If Connor is determined to join Villa this month, if not, he will see out his contract and leave for free in June, then Barnsley don't have much to stand on. The deal might be hanging on whether Barnsley are willing to take the loss of a fee in exchange for four more months of Hourihane's services.

    Graham Taylor

Such sad news. I met Graham a couple of times and he was very polite to me as a young man somewhat in awe of him. I was also at Goodison for his final game in his most successful period at Villa and remember the constant chanting of his name. It left the Everton fans stunned. My thoughts are with Graham's family and friends.
  18. Let VT know when you are about to wash them and we can remind you. Simples.

    U.S. Politics

Although I can imagine how journalists would be able to mimic his last few words and jerking movement as he was shot.
  20. The Communist party in Portugal also pushing for a referendum. Unlikely to get it in the short term. Can't see how Italy leaving would affect the UK as much as Italy and the remaining EU members, especially if the UK has already left.
  21. Is that what the Bank of England were referring to - Trump and the US is now a bigger risk to the UK economy than leaving the EU?Blimey!
