  1. I have a 17 day holiday in Hong Kong, Singapore, Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur coming very soon. Any tips, do's or don't do's would be appreciated.
  2. Tony looked at buying other clubs but chose us. Shouldn't that make us feel more 'special', not less?
  3. Inconsiderate parking. I live in a cul-de-sac and too often there are cars parked on both sides of the road near the entrance to the Close. The gap is just about wide enough to drive a car through. If an ambulance had to access the 30 or so houses past the parked cars it would struggle to get through without folding wing mirrors in. There's no way a fire engine would get through. On the one side of the road the parked cars are also obstructing the pavement.
  4. 5 Edit: actually not sure who got our 7th so Knibb might have only got 4.
  5. Deals this size can still be done from interest to signature in a couple of weeks. I think Bruce was aware of McCormack's lack of effort a month or two ago, long before gategate. In any case, if I were a manager, I'd want my supporting staff to be monitoring potential players all the time; even players you can trust to perform can get injured and miss the rest of the season.
  6. Without several new players (especially in midfield) we were almost certain to miss a playoff position. Whilst some players can take time to settle, the better quality of our new players (again, especially in midfield!), give us a fighting chance of making this season's playoffs. More likely than promotion, we'll have had them playing for us for nearly half a season instead of part of a preseason in the summer so we should start better next season. I wouldn't put much emphasis on whether a player has Villa 'at heart'. Over the years we've seen plenty of players, with no previous association with Villa, work hard and perform well for us. We've also seen players who supposedly do have Villa in their hearts that don't put in anywhere near enough effort.
  7. He might want to stay away if he is leaving them. Either way, the medical and final negotiations will take priority and if they go on to the evening he won't have a choice of being at the game.
  8. I think we'd miss Westwood's guile, strength and creativity. I know he doesn't score much but his tackling and key passes would benefit any PL team. I'm not sure Burnley have got the guts to see this transfer across the line.

    Carles Gil

I hope a sale price was agreed. It appears that most fees to buy agreed at the start of a loan are priced on the assumption that the player will perform reasonably well during the loan period. I'll be surprised if Gill performs above 'reasonably well'. Even given his latest assist, I don't think it's much more than should be expected from a player in his position. Keeping Gill or any player that doesn't want to play for us shouldn't be an option, in my opinion.
  10. Ah I remember now. I thought that 'Kevan' was a deliberate misspelling on VT as 'Kevan' isn't even a name. I bet his parents were asked if they were sure when his birth was registered. Kevin is his dad's name (makes naming his son 'Kevan' even weirder!) but even assuming it is a genuine account, it's still a noncommittal message. I was posting in regard to some of the posts written as if it was a done deal, yet I'm still to find any detail about an offer. In fact, one newspaper has us using Jack plus cash to get Rhodes, yet says we value Grealish at £20m. Does that mean we value Rhodes at greater than £20m because the same article then goes on to say we've already offered £10m for Rhodes and it's Rhodes plus unspecified cash for Grealish! All somewhat contradictory! I've no idea whether Grealish will realise the potential he has shown in all too brief patches, at Villa (or anywhere for that matter), but it might be that Bruce has seen enough of Jack on the pitch and in training to trust his own vast experience that Jack is not a good fit for our club. Or, it could all be typical media BS and Jack's going nowhere.
  11. If it is actually Kevin Grealish, he's Jack's brother. So, we have supposed interest from borough yet no mention that I've read of what the offer is. We've subsequently have a totally noncommittal message on social medial that may or may not have been from Jack's brother. I still don't see why this is anywhere near bad business for Villa yet.
  12. Is who his dad and what has been said as a cry for help? There's been a lot of strong statements on the last few pages of this thread and I've yet to see any need.
  13. How can anyone think it is bad business without yet knowing that Jack is leaving and for exactly how much?
  14. His brother used to be on VT but realised it was better to keep quiet about his brother. I don't see any change in what he has recently said. I also don't take Tony's tweet as 'patronising crap'. I'm not saying Grealish won't leave, the same as I wouldn't say for certain that any of our players won't leave, but at the moment it all seems something of nothing.
  15. So there's supposedly been interest. What have Villa been offered for Grealish?
  16. Yeah, I had just finished something similar but with really fancy graphics and a gif of each player popping up if you clicked on their name but I read GBoZ's post, realised my work wasn't needed and deleted it.
