  1. I disagree with both of the above claims. I'm not saying he was worth an 8 or 9 but he was far from crap. I thought he made several important interventions including diverting a shot over the bar that could of been a goal for Barnsley. The ref gave us a goal kick for it so it went unnoticed to many (including the shocking poor Channel 5 Championship programme) but everyone around me in the centre of the Holte saw the deflection that their forward was claiming.
  2. I had the same a couple of years ago and the money was refunded within two days.

    The pitch

Looked to me like it had been spiked to aid drainage following the heavy rain we've had recently. I think the pitch looked worse than it played as I didn't notice any uneven bobbles during the 90 and it wasn't playing slow.
  4. I was at the game and now I have watched several replays of the goals. Their keeper couldn't have done better for Hogan's header unless he was 7 feet tall. Headers like that have a habit of making even great keepers look foolish. Their keeper was slightly unfortunate for our second goal in that it fell to Snoddy and not a BC defender which then would have noted as a decent save. Steele's performance was not the reason they got tanked. Even Sky's player ratings gave him a '6' and the joint top score for their team. I doubt their regular keeper would have changed the score much and certainly not the result.
  5. In fairness to the few who booed Baker it only happened after Baker took Grealish out with an unnecessary, late and bad tackle. If anything lacked class it was Baker's tackle.
  6. It must depend on the round that couriers get. My household has had the same Hermes courier for a couple of years now and I've spoken to him on numerous occasions. He always seems happy doing what he does so I asked him how he came to be a courier. He gave up his job as a car sprayer in his early fifties because of respiratory problems so he wanted something to do for a few hours a day, four or five days per week. He said he earned about £80 for a 5 to 6 hour day which worked out to around £10 per hour after his vehicle (estate car) outgoings. Although he makes it work for him, I've no doubt many couriers end up with less than minimum wage. I think the government should advertise a service where workers can easily register their hours, income and (importantly) outgoings, so that companies who repeatedly infringe minimum wage conditions can be named, shamed and fined.
  7. Apparently, Kevin from admin is fed up of being overlooked just because he shares a first name with Kev from marketing. Seriously though, in this instance, I do think 'all leave cancelled' is more a figure of speech. Any non playing staff could easily excuse themself from being able to unexpectedly return to work.
  8. Many are too quick to take social media announcements too literally. I really don't think 'everyone' means literally everyone. If Kevin from admin is in Tenerife with his wife and kids he won't be ending his holiday early.
  9. I'm pleased for you but can't help wondering how certain are you that: she will say yes organising the day won't cause enough arguments to negate the point of renewing vows neither of you won't mess the day up again?
  10. 'Scum' have always been part of society, now, 10 years ago, 100 years ago, even 1000 years ago. The difference now is social media gives them a platform to publicise and the issue is therefore perceived to be worse. Threatening to 'rip them apart' shouldn't be a resonse for anyone hoping to stay on the correct side of the 'scum' line. Ignore main stream social media and you will feel much better about society.
  11. First away win for QPR in 18 games, since February at... the sty.
  12. After 26 years as the home owner answering my door to salesman', I have settled on: saying "hello" in a happy and positive manner (conveying that I'm not just being a miserable sod); spending about 5 seconds listening to them before I establish they want to sell me something; politely interrupting them by saying 'I don't buy at the door so I wish you luck with your next customer'; smile at them as I gently close the door. Takes about 10 seconds, I haven't wasted too much of their or my time and I haven't been too rude either. Provided they don't insist (lie) that they are 'not selling anything' and provided they don't just tut and mumble something under their breath as they walk away, it doesn't normally bother me.
  13. To my knowledge, you don't need to carry a card once you have registered as an organ donor. My original 1987 paper card has long since perished but I'm on the register to donate.
  14. I've just read through the current blood donation rules and the size of pussies isn't referenced. Your massive one will be welcomed.
  15. I remember reading up on 'both sides' of the argument 30 years ago whilst in my late teens before I chose to carry a donor card. Three years ago I urged my then 17 year old son to consider reading the facts around donation and a few weeks later he was carrying a donor card and has regularly donated blood ever since, entirely of his own choice of course. I'm glad you've changed your mind before you were unfortunate enough to be able to donate an organ(s) or need to receive. .
  16. Why were you 'vehemently against organ donation'?
  17. Unless customers require emergency assistance in the form of ambulance, fire, police or coastguard, I wouldn't travel if my local police authority warned against travel unless totally necessary. The increased risks just aren't worth it. Your customers won't compensate you if your car gets damaged or if you slip and break something. They definitely can't compensate you if the worst happens. My nightly commute is 214 miles and like yourself, I consider my work important but my company takes staff safety so seriously, I would be reprimanded if I travelled against advice.
  18. Will you still get paid if it's not safe for you to travel to work?
  19. Remembered as one of the most over exaggerated statements regarding sport, I can't believe Lawro still gets paid for his opinions.
  20. Another good game for Hutton, even when switched from right to left back after Taylor (our only 'average' performing player today) was subbed.
  21. A series that gets better by the episode. The character Geoff in episode 5 is hilarious. "Don't call me Geoff, he'll know I'm called Geoff!" Pleased to read that series 2 has been agreed.
