Think Carla Ward said in her last interview in July that they needed at least a couple more players before the season starts in September. Hope we really progress the women’s team as much as the other teams. We need to breed that winning mentality throughout the whole club.

I’m not going to hammer him but a couple of things and not just a reaction from today but from his time with us to date: He absolutely cannot play wide right. He probably doesn’t cause a fuss and if asked to do a job, does so. However, he’s a confidence player and wide right just doesn’t suit his ability. Not sure why though? Secondly, if we want to really push the top six then El G starting regularly for us is not the answer. He’s an impact player and ideally from the bench. We just need someone better starting games.

Fitness across the whole team looked an issue today. I’d say the disruptive pre-season and lack of games really showed. Targett was exposed but let’s not dress this up, because he was woeful and rightly replaced at the break. Cash, Konsa and Mings don’t escape criticism here either because none of them were good today. Buendia was not 100% fit and put extra pressure on Nakamba and McGinn to do the work of three usually. Midfield was better with Ramsey helping but the midfield needs addressing quickly. Ings had nothing at all to work with. Lack of support and service. Better when Bailey and Traore came on. We desperately need a calming influence in the midfield and dare I say it, Ward-Prowse is probably it.

We really need a player of this ability in our midfield.

Bright spark and only real positive out of today. Once fully fit we’ll have some player.

He’s isolated but appears to be blowing already. Just doesn’t look switched on or fit.

Targett needs a full pre-season so he can lose his honeymoon weight. Disgraceful so far.

Exactly this. The unbreakable, as some said on here, is now broken. Hopefully only for a week but shows how useful having two quality strikers is going to be.

Pleased Deeney isn’t starting for them.

What’s happened to Ruben Shakpoke? I know he had some injury issues last season but is he still not training/playing?

I think Deano definitely likes English speaking players as the core of his squad. I suppose it’s easier to settle them and communicate quickly in situations (training or matches).

Can only realistically be Mings or Martinez. Personally, I’d go Mings. He has the respect of the players. Never stops talking on and off the pitch and is very articulate when speaking with the media.

Thank you. The amount of stick I got for suggesting we sign JWP earlier this summer was ridiculous. He’s not just a dead ball specialist but someone that can keep possession well and control a midfield. Something we lack in abundance.

Been twice. Once in the early days and the second time early last year, so have seen it really develop into something quite special. Not the cheapest place but if someone likes the movies, it’s a truly magical place.

He’ll have a great time! I was very surprised how good it really is. No spoilers but a very good bit once at Gringotts Bank.

Not sure if you’ve been previously but it’s a fantastic place. My two kids absolutely loved it.

Perhaps time for Delaney and/or Jedinak to step up?

As a club we surely have far bigger priorities right now. The cost of rebranding everything would be immense and don’t see us considering it anytime soon. The current badge is not that bad. It’s clean, unfussy and simple to create. Also didn’t the club say during the Lerner years that our round badge was poor on digital platforms? Seem to remember something said about it at the time.
