  1. I'm sure someone said in the revised plans for ground changes, it showed an expansion of behind dug out seats
  2. I was listening to bbc606 last night and a Chelsea fan was talking a bit about the changes owners are introducing. one change was hospitality style seating behind the dug out, these seats are to be on sale for 1600 per game. I'm sure I've seen Villa are looking at introducing something similar. A shame for those that already sit there and another indicator of the types of revenue and costs being pushed by other clubs.
  3. I think he's going through a quieter period. In some ways this is a plus as we're winning and we're not having to rely on him. Others will have quiet spells which is when we will need John. I quite like the fact that Unai will pull him off and not just stick with a struggling player because he's captain. Tielemans and Ramsey give us options in this position.
  4. Good points well made and I saw Ollie Watkins make similar comments. To be fair the two instances I pointed at, Cash was playing someone onside both times. I've not been Konsas biggest fan but think he's certainly improving.
  5. im a little torn on the Konsa performance yesterday. For me Emi was probably man of the match with a number of one on one saves. For a keeper to be making so many 1 on 1 saves, it suggests to me the defence isnt always doing its role. I thought Konsa lost Jackson for his one on one and i also thought Chilwell got in easily on the right. Maybe its the chemistry with Cash that still needs work. To balance that up i think his recovery tackling is excellent and hes started to take more responsibility with the ball, he played a great through ball for Cash in the first half. Nice to see that being added to his game.
  6. Yeah you have to credit Watkins for the pens he's won. In both instances he gets a very clean shot at goal from around 5-10 yards out if he is not fouled.
  7. Trying to work out how we can rest Digne as well, I wonder if we could see a back 3 with Ramsey dropping into a wing back role.
  8. I was wondering this, he must have played every minute. Wonder if we could see Pau or Lenglet at left back as it sounds like Moreno is some weeks away.
  9. Would seem odd to let Bidace go for not a lot and bring back Barry. Suspect this is bollocks, if the goals continue though maybe a league one move in Jan. Nice to see him settling.
  10. Not understanding the obsession with the rotation last night. Yes chambers was poor playing out of position but digne and kamara were two of the worst performers, both regulars. Duran came in and scored. Tielemans and Bailey can hardly be considered kids rotation options as either could start at the weekend and no one would really be surprised. Time to just accept it's about poor mistakes at the back. The same thing that has been happening all season and it's the thing that really needs sorting.
  11. just always surprises me more arent like it. We often see Diaby, Bailey, Watkins playing either side. Same for Mcginn and Ramsey, were told Carlos prefers to play left side as a right footed centre half. Whats so special about full backs that means they can only play in one single position. Time to encourage a bit more versatility from them. Its ok for us to stick an out of practise centre half at full back and then rip him apart for not being good enough, i would always assume asking someone to play the same role but on the other side is a lot easier. (this is a collective criticism of full backs, not just the villa ones)
  12. i often wonder why Digne/Moreno arent capable of playing right back. Ashely Young didnt struggle, both seem comfortable with their feet. It may limit you in the final third but in the defensive work why are more players not able to play either side?
  13. It's one game and wasn't really a huge surprise to me. We were poor Defensively as we have been all season and we play in a style that can be exploited by pace in behind. I dont blame the players coming in from the cold either. I don't think you can sit on a bench for weeks and then perform at your optimum in a one off game. If we want to better manage a squad, we'll need to include those players more. Allow them to build relationships. Warsaw looked good, now we get to correct the mistakes against chelses
  14. for a bit of comparison. Im attending an NFL game at Wembley in a couple of weeks £100 a ticket. I recently bought england t20 tickets for next year, £75. Neither include food. My local cineworld has a VIP option with unlimited food. Thats about £25 (so £15 on top of the ticket). Still trying to work out if this represents value? I think its probably bang in the middle and will offer a decent return for the club.
  15. have we had a target return date from the club yet?
  16. it also doesnt specify not. I would also find it very odd but the current wording says drinks are included and maybe it isnt actually the worst priced initiative weve seen from villa.
  17. while i agree, it does say it will include food and drinks.
  18. renewed my ST as i still think its ok value and i just love the day out with my 13 year old lad. I didnt take the Everton game but did take the european package. Oddly if i didnt have my ST, i doubt i would go to as many games. I still spend money around the ground on drinks and food and the clubshop costs me more than i would like it to. Overall i feel like i get decent value.
  19. I read this as drinks are included. For an adult ticket with unlimited foot and drink, its not decent value. It doesnt work for me if im driving and ive got a kid with me. The Lower Grounds will open its doors to a fan-focused experience, which will include food and drinks as part of the package, for the first time against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, September 30.
  20. also my worry, hes traditionally been at clubs for a couple of years, the average for all prem managers is probably less than a couple recently, he will have different things he wants to achieve i hope we have a good progression plan. Just assuming he loves it here and will stay for ever is the type of planning thats got us in a mess for the last few years. Id rather the club understood his goals, when he was likely to move and made sure they are ready to move. Brighton are probably one of the best examples of this in recent years.
  21. i remember being so confused when we signed him, 20m on a player i hadnt really heard of when we had Tom Heaton (solid pro) on the bench. I dont think anyone expected us to be buying a keeper, let alone spending that much on one. What a player though, he almost instantly showed me i knew nothing about football and how much a great keeper could add to a team.
  22. i think he will go strong and i think the players that worked so hard last year will want to play a part. If we can get ahead in the group, we can afford to go weaker at home.
  23. i really dont understand the people who complain about Plane cancellations due to weather or safety issues. Im pretty happy sat safely on the ground thank you.
  24. my sister came over last night with a load of my old match magazines, dug them out of the loft at my folks house. About 10 in amazing condition all from about 89-90. Such a trip down memory lane, brilliant nostalgia. What got me was the open ness of the interviews, not the sort of thing you see today. People talk about moves or ambitions, rather than just giving nicely rehearsed soundbites.
