  1. Yesterday I met up with some people that I hadn't seen for ages. They said I'd lost weight. ATOS diet ftw.
  2. All we had at home when I was a kid was military marching bands. Anyway, Abba are fantastic on so many levels. The songwriting, harmonies and general production are gold standard.
  3. Here's my list, in no particular order: Jimmy Somerville Martin Freeman Chesney Hawkes (Everyone down the Handsworth Central used to know me as 'Ches') Simon Pegg George V
  4. Have a look on AVforums. You'll find loads of knowledgeable people on there. FWIW I have 5.1 and it's ace. Soundbars are a compromise.
  5. Someone's selling a Nexus One on there for £126. WTAF?
  6. No, the upgraded one came out a few months ago. Just make sure you get the new version.
  7. Tauntaun? And I thought you smelled bad... on the outside.
  8. This is a link to an old newsgroup posting from 1996. I really hope this guy got his problem sorted out. Anyone help this guy?
  9. I just watched a clip of Rachel Riley dancing to 'Johnny got a Boom Boom' on Strictly Come Dancing (only because of the music, mind). Forewarned that RIley would be wearing trousers, I was curious, but... What a fantastic arse. That is all.

    Windows 8

Windows 8 without a touchscreen is completely daft. It's made for touchscreens so you cannot criticise the metro experience on non touchscreen devices. Makes no sense. I'm not criticising the metro experience at all, mainly because I don't use it. If they'd launched windows 8.1 as the first version and said, "We've redesigned the start menu to make it touch friendly" people would've responded to it much better I reckon. As it was, all people could see was the metro interface which freaked them out. The reason we have it at work was because we had all kinds of machines with varying versions of vista and xp on them. Microsoft did the offer for an upgrade to win8 pro for £25 a pop. No brainer.
  11. *looks up Chinese banquet in the Profanisaurus*
  12. Tbf, why buy it as a going concern, when you can string them along until they run out of money, then pick up the pieces for **** all? I wonder if that was the strategy?
  13. There is no reason why. Once you embrace that things get much clearer. I leave a mess in my flat BECAUSE I CAN. It's not always messy, but there is something that gives me a little thrill when I don't put stuff away 'like I'm supposed to'

    Smart Watches

Apple didn't invent most of the functionality. They just say they did. They certainly brought the smartphone into the mainstream though. Back to the watches, how about home and or car automation? Tap your watch to open the car, turn the home lights on, lock all the doors, turn on the telly, turn over the telly... Seems obvious when you think of it.

    Windows 8

All our PCs have Win8 on them and we have no touchscreens. Nobody uses the Metro interface. The 'start screen' metro interface bit is just a replacement for the start menu, that's all. Generally, when I hear people complaining about windows 8, after drilling down a bit it's the metro interface that they're complaining about.
  16. My N4 just died. In warranty though... Now if only I could get an RMA via email, rather than phoning them up. You know, with the the phone that doesn't work...

    Business PCs

I read a while back that Lenovo pcs come with the option to downgrade to Windows 7, one of the reasons why Lenovo are increasing market share in a decreasing market. As an aside, I actually LIKE windows 8. Prefer it to 7.
  18. According to that site I'm from the UK. I have no idea how to feel. The above two sentences may or may not be related.
  19. While we're talking about battery life on the N4, have any of you installed Battery Guru? Makes a huge difference on mine. Snapdragon phones only though...
  20. Can I like this more than once? Say, about, 15 times?

    GiffGaff

If it's 3G (not 4g) then get a T-Mobile payg sim, load it up with £20, text 6monthweb to 441 and bingo, you have six months unlimited data.
  22. Tis aye It's how he gets to afford all them iProducts ~
  23. Compared to a Nexus 7, really **** high. Actually, I suspect it'll be the same as the current mini, with a slight inflationary increase, so maybe £285 or so for the 16gb? But won't it also blow it completely out of the water spec wise? And if you currently use an like using an iPhone, wouldn't that make it the smarter investment? £285 is not high really, not for portable tech. Spec wise I suspect they'll be similar. Experience wise too. If you're used to the iOS ecosystem though, it'll be somewhat easier. Is £285 high for portable tech? Well, if you can get something with pretty much the same functionality for £85 less, then you have to take it into consideration. I understand why someone would be prepared to pay nearly 50% more to stick to what they know though. Oh,BTW DDID, I got a spam DM from you on twitter the other day!
