With wifi being a battery hog when it is not connected, you should leave mobile data on all the time and turn off wifi when you leave home / work.
Use Llama to automate this.
Or Battery guru
I guess the upside-downness is because...
It's a map of Africa if it hadn't been invaded, so I guess the implication is Africa would set the agenda of which way is up. Or something like that.
It's also worth making sure all your contacts are attached to your google account, rather than just stored on the phone/sim (go into contacts on your phone>settings>import/export)
If you've got the 'Back up my data' box in backup and reset ticked then it ought to backup your settings and data.
Also worthwhile checking that your keyboard data (ie your personal dictionary) is backed up - swiftkey has a thing called connect where it stores it in the cloud.
I suspect when the iWatch comes out it'll be heavily geared to home automation via Apple's (proprietary) iBeacon system.
I really hope they don't get their claws into people's homes.
Never been a fan of Samsung phones apart from the S2. Get yourself/have a play with a Google Nexus device and the difference is night and day.
Failing that, try Cyanogen mod on it and see if it's any better - it ought to be as there's no Samsung crapware on it.
Kurt, have a look at the Lenovo Solution Centre. It might already be installed on your laptop. If not then download, install, run it and let it do its thing.
The footy scores app is ace; not massively sexy, but it gives you live scores from pretty much every game on the planet. You can filter out stuff you don't wan though...
Other stuff that I use all the time:
London centric stuff:
Journey pro for Tube/train maps/times/status/journey planning
London Bus Checker - same but for buses
Oyster Balance app - even tells you when you haven't tapped out properly
Other bits and bobs:
Shush - When you put your phone on silent turns your ringer back on after a set period of time
Swiftkey - Ace keyboard that speeds up your typing. Also does Swype style.
Battery Guru - only if you have a snapdragon processor in your phone
MX Video Player - plays anything & combines well with ES File Explorer streaming video over the network
Wifi Analyser - troubleshoot wifi issues
Fing Network Tool - bloody handy if you have to deal with networks - shows connected clients & can ping etc
Plus pretty much all the Google apps.
Obviously the specs aren't as good as the nexus 7 but to me storage is more important
Purchasing a blue one of these tomorrow for the princely sum of £99. If you can't quite afford the new nexus 7 then get one of these. The moto g of tablets imo.
Where you getting it Ingram? Got a mate who wants one.
