  1. A friendly 'sieg heil' would be more appropriate at our Doctors practice.
  2. Any one watching Le Tour ? To what do you attribute all these crashes (apart from that idiot woman) as there seem to be more than usual. Tips for a winner at this early stage ? Personally , would like Alaphilippe; 'cos he is an ace rider and plays drums !!!
  3. Then you missed The Spencer Davis Group, minus Steve Winwood but including Eddie Hardin, playing the theme song.
  4. Excellent comment IMO. Same as David Gower and even Botham. England don't seem to have an obvious Captain; but then I (personally) compare all prospective candidates to Virat Kohli who I think is superb.
  5. You surely didn't tell her the price did you !!!! There is an expression in cycling (but could equally apply to instruments) " My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my bikes for what I told her they cost" !
  6. Just as well Bent wasn't a paid up member of The Labour Party in the late 60's / early 70's. Quite a few members referred to other members as 'Brother'. And he certainly had better avoid 'The Revolution Will not Be Televised' - perhaps the most racist piece of 'music' I have ever heard.
  7. Ah ! Thanks - I didn't hear that. However .................doesn't seem to have worked does it
  8. It is quite apparent that I am no cricket expert but with this mini heat wave that started before Wednesday, wouldn't the weather conditions have affected the pitch for a decent spinner ? Surely the ECB had access to (fairly) accurate forecasts and include Leach or Bess on such a surface. Great win by Warks BTW.
  9. For older Villa fans - for me , this has shades of Noel Blake - thuggish (IMO).
  10. BRIGGS for England !!! Derbyshire next - on Thursday and they aren't playing very well. (just a pity Lancashire won)
  11. Just make damn sure that the younger on (on drums) counts the numbers in !!
  12. Remember Slade in the 60's when they were The N'Betweens then Ambrose Slade then just Slade. They were a damn good live band but how they achieved such legendary status is still a bit of a mystery to me. However, as I said , I think they were a good live band who could certainly play a bit. Here is a number which didn't make it but I reckon is pretty good.
  13. "Pan's Labyrinth" on this afternoon. Very interesting film IMO - even though I don't speak Spanish. A very dark allegory.
  14. Good as Manic Street Preacher are, there is only one Everything Must Go"
  15. Indeed ^^^^. Mr Rich could be slightly opinionated but when you are that good .......as Seat says. Not a fan of Country FWIW but did rather like Shania Twain - but that might be for reasons unconnected with music Saw a bloke called Kenney Chesney (who I had never heard of) playing in Central Park. Wouldn't like to pass an opinion on him but his band were ACE !!
  16. An opinion on "Country Music" by a master.

    Drugs

A guitarist I played with was the first person I knew to take LSD - he called it a micro dot; this was in about 1969. I was in the flat where he lived with his g/f and after a fairly short while he got very agitated and thought his heart was coming out and starting clutching where his heart was. This lasted for about 20 mins.; enough to put anyone off drugs for life IMO.
  18. I doubt if many , if any , on here are old enough to remember an early 60's satirical programme called "That Was The Week That Was" - the programme that made David Frost famous. It did a sketch on the value of the various Religions. Would NEVER be shown today, not least 'cos it (gently) lampooned Islam and was fairly scathing about Catholicism. It was almost a 'Cost Benefit Analysis' of each Religion.
  19. Sang some great ballads and ....... was also a knockout guitarist. Part of the legendary Wrecking Crew.
  20. An excellent choice (IMO). I always thought both he and Roger Chapman of 'Family' (In My Own Time) had far stronger voices than the preening Robert Plant - who I realise is extremely popular and seems to have gained legendary status. For me , Plant was a victory of style over substance and , according to a mate who played with him in the early days, not a very pleasant fellow.
  21. For what it's worth :- Daryl Hall, Michael McDonald, Teddy Pendegrass, and ... Donald Fagen !!!
  22. I actually saw Howlin' Wolf (Chester Burnett) at a Folk/Blues Festival in Birmingham Town Hall , about 1963. Also featured Sugar Pie De Santo, Hammie Nixon and Sleepy John Estes, Lighting' Hopkins and others I can't remember. I remember they said at the time that they had never played to an all white audience before.
  23. Very rarely post on Facebook so not very savvy on it but ... a good mate and Villa Supporter for some 50 odd years got a 'yellow card' for one of his posts. The post referred to "faggots and peas" - a well known Black Country dish. Presumably , FB disliked 'Faggot'; my mates politics are slightly to the left of Tony Benn so Political Correctness is quite important to him. This seems madness to me.
  24. Any body watching the South Africa v Pakistan series ? in the first one dayer (I think it was), Bavuma's bat split with a large chunk coming off the back of the bat. Think it was a New Balance. Never seen anything like that before, are bats not made as well as they used to be?
  25. All the above is rubbish. All you need is a VOX AC30 and a Watkins Copycat
