  1. Main advantage of the BBC Weather Forecast is Carol Kirkwood .
  2. Following Mr Maqroll's selection; can anything involving Yoko Ono strictly be classed as music ?
  3. Blimey ! Paul Stirling signed for Warks !! Don't see him scampering 'round the boundary but can certainly put bat to ball. Described by Mike Haysman in the PSL as 'fielding at one and half slips' !! Thought that was brilliant.
  4. One of the pundits on BT claimed Root had a great year last Season and was 'the best batsman in the World. Now although I am fairly patriotic this is simply jingoism; unless he hasn't heard of Smith, Warner, Azam, Kohli, Rizwan et al. Whilst he has his moments , I believe he lacks the consistency of, say, Ian Bell or Jonathon Trott. Just two random examples =, of course
  5. I was VERY fortunate to play with the guitarist who replaced Robin Trower. He said the atmosphere in the band was often 'tense' because of a dispute between Brooker and Mathew Fisher over 'song writing' royalties. It seems the difference between what the musicians get and what the song writers get is considerable.
  6. I hope it is acceptable to note this, the deceased is not famous. Some of you might have noticed a banner hanging over the Holte End say 'RIP Reg'. Reg Evans was a lifelong Villa fan who hardly missed a match - home or away and in Europe; he died last week from heart failure. I wonder if anyone else on here knew him ? His son and nephew are both huge Villa fans and were there last night. Not many of his sort left ; am proud to have called him a good friend ; and tremendous credit to the person/s who instigated that banner. RIP Reg.
  7. Would you have him as England Coach then ? Giles and Silverwood now gone.
  8. Some big names using them . aren't they part owned by the bloke off 'Pub Landlord' ? Never seen any in the flesh but as regards World Domination don't DW have that in hand !!
  9. Back to 'The Big Bash' ; didn't realise (Sir) Ian Bell was Coach at Hobart Hurricanes . Surely with his class and track record a place could be found for him in the England batting set up. They certainly need something - or didn't he play for the 'right' County ?
  10. Anyone heard McGinn might be a doubt ? Didn't turn up for training today - it seems ! Might be COVID related I suppose.
  11. Is it in this book that he is critical of Roger Daltrey ? I thought I read that Daltrey thought he was regarded as not that good by some, or one, of the other members !
  12. I wonder what the selectors would give to have someone like Jonathon Trott available ? Of course , quite a few in the media sneered at his slight eccentricity but I don't think England have anyone with his power of concentration now.

    Drugs

Doesn't that THC oil increase your appetite and thus cause you to put on weight ?
  14. After 'Keep on Running' when presumably they had decent money coming in, Steve Winwood used a Tele. His previous guitar ( from memory) was a Harmony Meteor with 3 pick ups. Wonder if Harmony guitars have become valuable now ? Muff Winwood's bass Harmony had the pick up held on with sellotape ! Ace guitar that Tele' .
  15. This is top American session player Louis Shelton; he played on the 'Off the Wall' LP plus many other iconic guitar parts. For guitarists on here he also played the solo on Lionel Richie's 'Hello'. Quite a tasty played I hope you agree.
  16. Hence the expression bad apples . Look ; the only thing that people on this Forum have in common is support for Aston Villa ; it would be highly unlikely that they would agree on all other matters - particularly politics and religion (maybe agree that Ant and Dec should be removed from our TV screens). So would it be best to leave it at that and see what 'cause' this vile individual supports before commenting further.
  17. Absolutely not ! I refute that. Surely there are bad apples in all religions; even Buddhists and Sikhs who I happen to have a lot of time for.
  18. Agreed , and I haven't suggested which group of maniacs is responsible but ... faites vos jeux .
  19. Oh come on ! I don't think one can equate these atrocities (which I believe were committed mainly in a theatre of war) with the Terror threat posed in the UK. NVB - in no way do I support or seek to justify the Far Right but I wouldn't be surprised if atrocities committed in the UK by far right supporters are much fewer than those committed by (largely) discrete religious groups.
  20. Surprised the latest terrorist atrocity in Liverpool hasn't received it's own thread (unless I've missed it). Any guesses who might be responsible; probably not the much-reviled 'far right' that we are constantly being warned about.
  21. Lots of big stars in the crowd. However, did anyone see that shot of Shoaib ? The effects of his PEDs were plain to see. Not a good man I think.
  22. The wonderful BBC is currently promoting a 'drummerthon' (sp) on behalf of Children in Need; this involves a rather strange Welsh weather presenter playing drums for 24 hours. Part of the programme involved him in a large room/studio with many other drummers on drum kits; someone at the BBC has deemed it necessary to go 'round and stick a bit of paper on the logo of the manufacturer which appears on the front head of the bass drum . Pity they didn't pay such attention to detail when employing :- Jimmy Savile, Rolf Harris, Stuart Hall, Jonathon King et al.
  23. I' m sure all music fans will want to know that Jarrett sued Steely Dan for copying one of their numbers . The SD song 'Gaucho' sounded suspiciously like one of his numbers and he sued; think he won and some liner notes included him in the credits. re. Brand X - yep they were tasty and it is a damn shame that Phil Collins was such a good drummer; it detracted from the fact that he is a pratt.
  24. Definitely was a feature when I played but usually involved name dropping top American session players. For instance ; if the bass player didn't know who Victor Wooten or Stanley Clarke were , they tended to be sneered at by those who did. Likewise a drummer who didn't know Jeff Porcaro (RIP) , Steve Gadd , Dave Weckl et al , received the same treatment. Not good really but went on.
  25. In the same 'genre' as Mulholland Drive I think. Sorry , wandered OT.
