    I think this is what it is for me. He says a lot of cliche things in the media about technique, standards and ‘carry’. But the reality is that there is no identity or structure to the team. It’s a different set up every game, and we can all see the faults.

    I guess the real measure of the confidence in the manager will come from the level of spending over the next couple of days. They we’re allegedly prepared to spend £24m on Sarr a week or so ago, so my twisted logic suggests a spend under £30m would not signal strong confidence. I would love for us to break our transfer record here, but under the circumstances I would also be nervous about us doing so.

    Looking at it objectively, there’s no reason to carry on. there’s no system and we change shape every match, the players don’t seem to know what they’re doing, the results are dreadful, the fans no longer believe in him, he’s spent fortunes to build on paper a good squad and, worst of all, he’s destroying the positivity that the club had under his predecessor.
