  1. I just don't think having Ayew as the main striker works. I'm sure that team could play some pretty stuff outside the box but have absolutely no penetration.
  2. He looked more like a CB playing RB than someone who has played the majority of his career as a RB. Positioning was all over the place, he was ok going forward in the first half, but was often in advance of Bacuna, who had to drop back to cover. He didn't get forward much in the second half, dunno if he had been told to calm it down or if he was just knackered. You would not have guessed that he was once an international full back on that performance.
  3. I don't disagree with that, but not giving him any chances to miss isn't a sound game plan either.

His touch was consistently poor, the pitch didn't look great for silky skills, but even so.
  5. He is awful, but if we aren't going to play to his one strength he shouldn't take all of the blame. There were a number of times where we could have put in a high cross for him but didn't.
  6. I agree, I wouldn't be at all surprised if another PL club comes in for him at the end of the season. Sure, it probably won't be a fashionable club, but he would probably perform well in a functioning team, and then people could moan about how he never played like that for us.
  7. I really think we would be a different team with a good number 9 type striker, I don't know anything about this guy but if he is more a wide/second striker type then he might not be what we really need, but any reinforcement in the striking department would be welcome.
  8. I will always remember him fondly for the two seasons where he did as much as Benteke to keep us in the Prem, but he is pissing all over those memories these days.

    Fantastic goal, terrible game.
  10. I didn't say that I think we will stay up, I don't think we will. If it helps you deal with it by throwing in the towel early then fine, but that isn't for me.
  11. We have been the better team, poor defending for the goal rather than unlucky. Grealish and Gil off for Adama and Libor.
  12. Relatively happy with that line up and bench, all things considered. Away win.
  13. I think you are in the wrong thread.
  14. Of course not. There will still be a chance of us staying up, albeit even slimmer than if we don't lose. I keep reading posters saying that some fans are in denial. That is nonsense, no one is in denial that we are more than likely to go down, but right now we aren't down and there are 19 games to go.
  15. If you are hoping to achieve the near impossible and win 10 games between now and the end of the season then you have to play Traore. All legends have to start somewhere.
  16. I wish I had a pound for every time in the past three seasons someone had posted on here 'that's it, we're definitely down'.
  17. I think he would be great to get in, he should be able to fit into the team either with or without Gestede.
  18. Wow, Veretout must really have had a stinker against Norwich for no one to post in his thread for two days...
  19. I think he should be one of the first names on the team sheet given the level of energy he brings to the midfield, but he isn't currently playing at the level of form he showed when he first came in. A lot of posters seem very quick to jump on his back, but he has been one of our better players this season. Having said that, he made so many bone-headed decisions against Norwich, both with the ball and without. He gave away a number of needless free kicks in dangerous areas. But like I said, one of the first names on the team sheet for me.
  20. Garde has shown that he isn't a great manager, perhaps when he has had more time and the chance to bring his own players in he could yet prove to be a good manager. But you could say the same of anyone that hasn't yet had the chance to prove themselves as not being up to it.
  21. Ayew did well with little support but seemed determined to get that suspension. Traore showed he is worthy of more than 10 minute cameos. The rest were utter dross. Team selection was very poor, decision to keep it as it was until 10 mins into the second half was also baffling. I have been more optimistic than most in thinking that we just could possibly turn it round, but now I'm done.
  22. No doubt he is getting better, but I don't think he has yet had a game that justifies his price tag. We wouldn't be making a profit if we sold him in the summer, but, as with Ayew, if they have just signed long term contracts we don't have to sell.
  23. I think Bacuna would benefit from a run of games at right back. I prefer Bacuna anyway, but the argument used to be that Hutton is an experienced and better defender - unfortunately his defending seems to have gone to pot, he has cost us a lot of goals lately.
