  1. Gone to Hull: Please bring in another CB Bruce...
  2. If you read his Wikipedia page, he actually secured the sale to the current owners, as well as the deal for Standard Chartered (still their sponsor) and dealt with the £350m loan with RBS that Liverpool had (which lead to the sale to the now Fenway Group from Hicks & Gillett - some issues there but I think Liverpool fans would agree new owners are better). The issue with Liverpool fans was the whole sacking Benitez/hiring Hodgson - however he may have been in charge when Benitez was given the 5 year contract as well so could be that he did initally support Benitez... At Chelsea he secured the deals with Yokohama (still their shirt sponsor) and Nike (still making their kits and the deal was worth £900million). It sounds like he has sorted them out financially for years to come. Whilst Liverpool fans may not like him, at both clubs he has put in impressive financial dealings. I think we may have got a significant improvement on Wyness...
  3. Afraid not. Not on AVTV either (though that may be a blessing): Looking for 2nd string team to show that they can push the main side. Also want minutes for Bolasie so he can get up to speed quickly. Also, not sure if it has been mentioned at all, but possibly players playing in their actual position and Tuanzebe actually playing CB. Is that too much to ask for though?
  4. Never heard of them before, but think the cover is awesome and had a VT seal of approval so bought it. Curious heavy psychedelia so definitely enjoyed! Thanks @bickster ?
  5. With that team he should be making top 2. Agree the defence is suspect, but that might be a free coming in instead.
  6. Even then: Metallica > Megadeth.
  7. Nice resurrection thread! Definitely Coldplay wholly overrated. Complete and utter boring tripe. The world would be better if their music was taken away. Others that are definitely overrated: Oasis - the only negative to when Villa win at home. I definitely look back in anger at the speakers when that goes on... Just remind me of chavs thinking they are "emotional innit". Megadeth - boring and nothing to them. Whilst Metallica have put out some utter rubbish, I just find Megadeth to be bland as anything. Do not think Mustaine deserves the praise he gets. Guns 'n' Roses - 1 good(ish) album 20 years ago. Use Your Illusions (both) definitely overrated. Bloated waffle. Sex Pistols - 1 OK(ish) album 40 years ago. Not the originators nor actually original. Added nothing to "punk". Do not deserve the praise that should be given to others (Stooges, Ramones, Clash etc.). Amy Winehouse - just no. OK singer but there are far, far better out there. Was controversial so was loved by the damn media. Nothing to her and wholly overrated. Presley/Jackson/Beatles/Nirvana/Queen/Bowie/Stones/Dylan - I would argue to say influence on others significant enough so whilst may not like them all, they have their significance in the world of music. Those above you could take out of existance and there would be no difference in the music world. (Oasis & Megadeth possibly would be be missed but still think they are overrated!) And those that said Sabbath and Maiden... . Each to their own but both have significant influence in heavy metal and fantastic live. Definitely fine "f you don't get but they have a big influence on a whole genre and still cracking live (Maiden more so obviously, the drugs are definitely taking a toll on Ozzy). Underrated bands? Far too many bands are completely underrated but shouldn't that be a separate thread?
  8. Yeah, but we can technically loan more, there just wouldn't be much point!
  9. You shock me. Loans in accordance with the EFL guidance: Section 1 - General Section 5 - Fixtures Section 6 - Players So in short, you can loan as many players as you want BUT a maximum of 4 from 1 club (and only 2 over 23) and you can only name 5 in your match day squad (so including subs). This rule I think is because of the Watford/Udinese issue. Also if we convert them to permanent deals in January then they won't count as part of the 5 after that. Think that's it? So at Villa we have: Moreira, El Ghazi and Tuanzebe currently on loan. We are expecting Bolasie so we can loan 1 more and have all of them in the squad. We can loan more, but we can't use them all.
  10. Think this is more likely, though I can imagine Bruce putting in Whelan/Jedinak/Bjarnson for Hourihane. I suspect as away he will play Whelan or Jedinak. Just praying for Tuanzebe to play CB rather than Jedinak. Need to win and keep momentum going. It was these sorts of games that cost us last season.
  11. Left Back but I have no idea if he is any good. Appears to have only played a few games for Southampton and spent 2015-6 season on loan at Southend...
  12. Nah RB - never can have enough right backs! Yeah I did mean a winger... will edit now
  13. Reckon if they signed that McGinn chap they might have been alright. Where did he end up again...? Seriously LB, ST, RW and possibly CB needed.
  14. What I learnt from tonight’s game: Moreira - suspect goalkeeping but good penalty save. Not going to be challenging Nyland for a while. Hoping it’s a loan to buy otherwise what is the point? Tuanzebe - whilst not perfect in central defence, did much better than at right back. Hopefully will be better with Chester there. Hoping Bruce realises this for Ipswich game but it’s nice to see him actually start there.... We need a new LB; Taylor was absent the whole game. Whelan - I know we have a cracking record with him, but what does he do?! Green - fiery but raw. If he can stay fit this season will be fantastic. Adomah - out of form. A new RW would be good! Hepburn-Murphy/Kodjia either we need to play to their feet or get in a tall striker. When we are up against players twice the size of our strikers, we don’t punt it to them hoping they will knock it down! To be fair both looked better than in recent games but a clear deficit here. Team selection not bad but clear some aren’t good enough for first team. Yeovil played well and ground us down. We struggle to break teams down still. Hoping McGinn, Grealish and new striker will sort that out! We got lucky and won whilst playing bad. If we do that for the next 44 league games I won’t complain but we definitely got away with that! Score: C-. We passed but we definitely have room for improvement!
  15. Please please please please let this be true... ? Sadly I saw the words "According to The Mirror"...
  16. From his Wikipedia Page: Doesn't play Right Back so no good for us!
  17. But how many of those games had Jedinak at CB? He is a massive liability there that I think Whelan would struggle to cope with (IMO). Whelan is better defensively than Bjarnason but useless going forward. It was nice to see that he played Bjarnason in this role rather than Whelan - we don’t need a DM every game (if defence good). Always seems to score last minute too! Relieved is an understatement! We would not have won this game last season...
  18. After yesterday LB and ST definitely needed. Possibly RW & CB. LB would push Hutton to RB and Tuanzebe to CB (hopefully). Given he has no 4 shirt I would hope he his stint at RB is limited to yesterday... if he is as good as he is meant to be - no need for a further CB. Was really frustrating watching 3 players play out of position because Taylor isn’t good enough (sadly hasn’t been since that tackle in March 2017). Getting another LB will sort that, hopefully! Vinagre came on yesterday for Wolves so is he really available? Who else have we even been linked to? ST - what is going on with Kodjia?! This isn’t the player from 2 seasons ago. Does not look sharp at all. Maybe a confidence issue but still needs to pick up quickly or he will be dropped. Hepburn-Murphy looks better but struggled when balls up pumped up to him, especially when the Wigan defence was twice the size. If we played more along the ground, would likely benefit Kodjia, Hepburn-Murphy and Hogan but that’s another issue. If we have a 15-20 goal striker in place we have got this promotion thing sorted. Abraham seems the solution as fits the mould so to speak but really would just like somebody consistent. RW - seems Bruce is liking Elmo here and he’s not been bad, but prefer him a bit further back and to have a more supportive role. Snodgrass would be good to have back this season as he knows the team and will have no settling down time. Not sure he’s a long term solution given his age though but so we need that right now? Ødegaard would be interesting long term. Huge reputation but not really broken into Real Madrid team. Did anyone watch Heereveen last season - how was he? CB - if Tuanzebe is allowed to play and is good not vital, but wouldn’t say no to a backup option. Huth or Terry would be good (subject to wage demands of course!). Terry as player coach IMO would be ideal. Not expected to play every game but would still have that influence on dressing room. Get those sorted we should be pushing promotion.
  19. Maiden never fail to impress - even the Bayley tracks were good (even if surprising!) Still waiting for the Seventh Son whole album tour though...
  20. I suspect we will see: Nyland Hutton Chester Elphick Taylor Whelan Hourihane Grealish Elmo Adomah Kodjia With a bench of: Moreira, Tuanzebe, Jedinak, Bjarnason, McGinn, Green, Hepburn-Murphy I don't see Bruce dropping Elphick or Adomah and don't expect him to start Green - probably protecting though I would have though Wigan would be a good game for him to start (although he might hold him for Yeovil). Reckon we will struggle for first half as they will sit back, then McGinn and Green come on for Whelan and Adomah and realise that we don't have to play with a Defensive Midfielder every game... What I would prefer to see is: Nyland Elmo Chester Tuanzebe Hutton McGinn Hourihane Grealish Adomah Green Kodjia With a bench of: Moreira, Elphick, Whelan, Jedinak, Bjarnason, Lansbury, Hepburn-Murphy Not happy with bench though. All central players, no width. But this may be more long term - it depends on how much faith Bruce has with the new players. The certain one to start is Nyland given Steer has been moved on.
  21. And here’s the tweet: Think that’s cleared it up! Ah well 6.20 and no more noises from Spurs!
  22. If real, its very interesting for a couple of points (apart from the obvious). Confirms that he will likely stay come what may; He has actually spoken with other clubs so offers may have been accepted or allowed to at least talk - showing how much media don't know; The apology is to Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal - suggests to me that these were the clubs being spoken to. Why not mention Man Utd/City/Liverpool? Spurs were obvious ones in the media but were Chelsea and Arsenal making enquiries too? Whilst the photo with Merson is easily available, I can't track down his profile picture...
  23. Thanks. He has definitely been brought in to be first choice then. Saturday will be exceptionally telling as to how much Bruce rates Steer.
  24. Have you tried cutting mustard? It's bloody hard! Tiny seeds roll all over the place...
  25. Just heard some ITK and I know Chelsea are looking for a striker and are making a move for a legendary Scottish striker: Also Man Utd are looking for a Centre Back and are destined to pull off a sensational move for an English International superstar: Can't tell you what my sources are - the voices in my head won't allow me to. *waits for twitter/Sky Sports to claim the same ITK*...
