  1. Apparently we made up our mind 2 1/2 years ago about something that nobody really knew what it meant and we are not allowed to change it...
  2. Thinking of him and his family; he provided real insight and was a delight to read. Hope you get better real soon.
  3. To say he has been underwhelming in this whole process is an understatement. The fact that that he doesn't seem to be able to get a majority in the polls in spite of the Tories being in complete and utter shambles to me show that the public simply don't trust him to lead the country. As the majority of Labour MPs appear to be saying, if he changed the policy to seeking a further referendum, either after a newly negotiated deal or not, he would get into government almost instantly. Just feels like apathetic opposition. Both main parties have really shown that all they care about is themselves, not the country.
  4. Not sure but likely if you consider this article from the Birmingham Mail with quotes from Smith (referred to on previous page via villareport link): Article was from 21st December, so obviously the Nyland bit a little redundant now. If there was any prospect of him playing for us, we would not have recalled Steer and this article suggests he isn't making the grade for Smith. I am sure he will be sent back this month. Ship back and use the money/space elsewhere.
  5. I know Telegraph is pretty reliable but what about Evening Standard? To be fair this seems fairly more logical response than £18 million for a 21 English striker who already has 2 caps and has scored 16 goals with 3 years left on his contract. I'm not saying that the Sun, Talksport et al are talking Hause s***, but you know...
  6. Agree with you on his solo stuff. You’ve got Judas Priest supporting as well though. If it was a joint headline or Judas Priest headlining I would be all over that, but can’t justify the ticket price. Should be good fun though.
  7. To be fair, it’s what they have been doing for the last 2 years, why change it?
  8. Last gig of the year on Saturday with Clutch. Really looking forward to it, bloody love them! Top that with finishing work today and Villa playing on Sunday it’s looking like it’s going to be a cracking pre-Christmas weekend!
  9. @Rugeley Villa 2nd from me. Sleep - The Sciences in particular are right up your Sabbath street. 1 track is even called Giza Butler. Should have been in my honourable mentions as well but forgot..!
  10. Heard of Bob Dylan and Neil Young but otherwise totally baffled! I’m not under 30 though; think it’s more of there is a ridiculous amount of music out there to cater for everyone’s taste. That is the beauty of music, no 2 people have identical tastes in music! One that I did forget was the Oh Sees - Smote Reverser. Never heard of them before and them somebody (really sorry can’t remember who but thank you!) posted the album cover which is awesome. Really good album and I have villatalk to thank for it!
  11. Top 5 in no particular order - Ghost - Prequelle Zeal & Ardor - Stranger Fruits Clutch - Book of Bad Decisions Møl - Jord Anaal Nathrakh - A New Kind of Horror Well, I say no order but the first 3 have been the stand out albums of the year IMO. Ghost have just gone to the next level with their album, and expect them to take that step up. Zeal & Ardor is something quite spectacular and beautiful. Clutch have added to their mass of quality songs, even throwing in a song that is a recipe for crab cakes?!? Møl was an excellent addition to the Blackgaze genre and completely outshone Ghost Bath when saw them live last month. Anaal Nathrakh was a very solid return to form as well, with the WWI theme working very well. Special mentions I think should go to Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats - Wasteland, Judas Priest - Firepower, Ihsahn - Amr, Primordial - Exile Amongst the Ruins, Behemoth - I Loved You at your Darkest, Conjurer - Mire and Cancer Bats - The Spark That Moves. All good albums.
  12. I’ve voted Greens last few election as they are the closest to my views; however I’m realistic that they will never get in as erdington is as labour safe as ever. Just feel so utterly apathetic with all the “traditional” parties.
  13. Link to the "full" legal advice 5 1/2 pages of stuff that does not require a QC to tell everyone what's wrong with the deal. Apart from it confirming what everyone is saying, why were they so intent on keeping this secret? Country's in the hands of idiots.
  14. Isn't there an increase in relation to how much deficit you are allowed if it is backed by capital? Thought it would counteract the spending as it is money from within the club rather than loans, which was one of the reasons why FFP came into existence, to stop clubs from borrowing their way to the top (see Leeds).
  15. Anyone else noticed that over the past 4/5 months or so there has been an extra £52 million in capital put into the club? https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/03375789/filing-history Now I am pretty sure that's one way to deal with the issues of FFP and ensuring there is money for the January transfer window...
  16. If we hadn't got Bolasie, Adomah and Kodjia in the wing positions with the possibility of Green to return I would say he deserves to come home! If there was a come get me plea that happened on Wednesday! Otherwise GK/LB/CB and we should be set Heaton (if there is any truth in the rumours) would be perfect - sign him up 1st Jan please!
  17. Elmo doesn't terrify me, still a decent player. Taylor though...
  18. Very interesting article. What I would say in relation to the decision next Tuesday, if it requires the agreement of Europe to revocation of Art. 50; then I do not foresee an opposition from Europe to revoke this. They have been pretty clear that the best outcome for them is for us to remain and so anything that pushes us in that direction will not face any opposition from Europe. I just hope the MPs have the guts to stand up for what they believe is best instead of falling for the "Hobson Choice"* approach that May has proposed to us. *not my analogy, but think it is rather apt.
  19. Definitely! I would guess approximately 650 of them?
  20. The only reason that Gove has not resigned is that he thinks it in best political interests not to resign. He has no interest in what’s best for the country whatsoever.

    U.S. Politics

I see the Democrats have taken the Arizona Senate seat. 47-51 with 2 seats to determine. Mississippi going to a run off later this month, describing Florida a right mess is a complete understatement!

To be fair the queen does bugger all (except take a lot of money). House of Lords whilst is utterly incompetent and useless - at least they can get overruled by the Commons.

    U.S. Politics

What would be exceptionally funny is if the democrats win the 3 remaining senate seats. Whilst it would remain republican, their “great victory” would be to keep the same numbers in the senate and they have lost the house... It still shocks me how incompetent America is at democracy...

One of the interesting side stories of yesterdays election BBC Link: With 1.2 million additional votes in a massive swing state such as Florida could make 2020 very interesting...
