  1. We don’t know what those ‘proper cups’ will be in history tbf. I’m very proud of our League Cup wins, others have dismissed it as a competition throughout its history. I’d love to see an FA Cup win and don’t think we should just be junking the competition but it’s fairly apparent many need a rest next week.
  2. 30 minutes into Torres’ legs and Lenglet will definitely start in the FA Cup next week.
  3. To be fair I don’t remember us having a better fifth-choice centre back.
  4. I’d love us to sign a RB but I think they’d need a good few weeks to learn Emery’s offside trap so even if we sign one I don’t think we will see much of them before March…
  5. I’m not totally convinced it was - we missed about 5 absolute sitters. Could have been out of sight! Agree with your general point in your post though.
  6. Over the last 6 games, including this Christmas-New Year ‘slump’, we have four wins, a draw and a loss. That’s better than City, Arsenal and Spurs - just for comparison. Liverpool have gained a point on us. An ok December for my money.
  7. Not making excuses for poor defending, but you could make a case that none of our first choice defence this season started that game in their best position and we were missing our defensive midfielder. January should improve. I’d have taken 42 points from 20 games if offered in August… or at the start of December!
  8. Even if he’d never done that, I just will never understand the mentality of slagging off anyone who played in the playoff final when we came up (or that promotion season) - all did their bit getting us from a really dark place back into the big league. Just feels needless and a bit silly.
  9. Suspect we’d need to smash our transfer record by some distance and pay him more than any other player in our history (insert Digne jokes here) - and not sure he’s the player we would do that for - even if he wanted to leave Liverpool or they wanted to sell a regular starter… As I write all this it makes me think I may be embarrassing myself and there is another Diogo Jota somewhere pulling up trees in Portugal which is who you mean! Apologies if so.
  10. I think he’s going to be an excellent player, though I doubt he will be moving to Villa in January if ever.
  11. Seen Almada a lot in MLS and while he’s lovely to watch I can’t imagine him making the step up to a top European league.
  12. Agree, we will be sorted when Traore is fit!
  13. It’s still United at Old Trafford. That was a tricky fixture for us when we were the best team in the world… I’d take a point if you offered me that and a win vs Burnley. Don’t get me wrong they are dreadful but we are just the fixture they might break that run in, despite Unai’s curse breaking powers.
  14. Very like Douglas Luiz a few years back. Came up knowing how to scrap and needs to temper it in the senior game. He’ll learn

I don’t think it was a bad game as such - per my Neil Taylor comparison earlier, he can play perfectly ok for the most part and still be the breakdown/slowdown point in too many attacks. It’s not even really a criticism - I think he’s performing perfectly well as a midtable PL full back which is an amazing level - he’s just the one player in our current starting XI I don’t think has the capability to step up to a CL chase, especially from an attacking perspective. I’d still happily have him in the squad for the long term but I think it’s the next position I’d be looking to upgrade.
  17. Sure this has been covered, but I don’t really understand how in a tussle where the defender had both hands gripping Ramsey’s shirt and was pushing him away, and Ramsey had one hand on the keeper, the goal was disallowed but there was no penalty… (And also it was a different phase of play so screw VAR as usual…)
  18. …anyway came on here to say: good luck today Finn, be a nice day to bag your first Plymouth hattrick.
  19. Looked pretty fast to me yesterday

Definitely the weak spot at the level we are currently at… he’s a much better player than Neil Taylor obviously, but it reminds me of the promotion season when Tammy, McGinn, Grealish etc would zip it around then it would come to Taylor and just… stop. Fine as a squad player but I’d be looking to upgrade.
  21. Think he’s got so much potential, hope he scores a few more this season and makes his way back here within a summer or two.
  22. Think he’ll start scoring loads of goals now
  23. I love Pau and he takes our game to a different level, but to be fair the question here is “which international defender do we bring in against a Championship-standard team who can’t buy a goal away from home?” - that’s not to sound arrogant, it’s to say either lineup should be able to get the job done... (touch wood…)
