  1. He supported MON, and look what that led to. The best years I've had as a Villa fan. With the worst years as a direct consequence. It may be an age thing as well, but the GT Mk 1/BFR/Sir Brian Little days were all much better than what pubehead served up, and didn't almost ruin the club as a result. Surely Lerner's to blame for that though?
  2. Looks like the type of player we need. Yes please.

  4. Except he wrote off most of the debt, didn't he?
  5. I think I'd projectile vomit out of my eyes if they did play YNWA.
  6. Either that or you forgot about all the ones he's completed.
  7. That's the spirit! It's true though, in fairness. I'd rather we went out in the semis than the final itself.
  8. 84% passing accuracy... shambolic...
  9. This - about time he pulled his finger out and credit to Sherwood for ostensibly getting him into that frame of mind.
  10. Came on and did what he needed to do - it was a good move by Sherwood and encouraging.
  11. Lambert was given a lot of chances despite bad results whilst having this mandate - I'd say he was backed throughout the period he was boss. I took it to mean financial backing. I agree that he "backed" him in terms of keeping him as manager and being happy with him. But I don't think he backed him financially. He gave him transfer fees, although the amount he was given was small considering how many players he had to bring in. But when you're cutting the wage bill during all of that it doesn't really count. OK - that's obviously different. I think the fact that we're more or less self-sufficient now is going to prove to be worth it long term. It's been a rough few years but something we really had to do and we've got a good squad to build with now.

  13. Awful seems a bit harsh - completed 80% of them.
  14. He's a he'll of player - glad to have him on board.
  15. Hopefully this will be the turning point for him - played very well in that second half and if he can keep that level up, people will be on his side and actually gqlad to see him on the team sheet.
  16. Massive, massive potential - mistakes are down to age and experience but he defends so well at times.
  17. A performance you'd expect from a man of his experience - did well. Guzan is still better though.
  18. Did fine yesterday - certainly better than Lowton if you ask me.
  19. Exactly - I can't fathom why somebody wouldn't want us to do anything other than win?
  20. Be interesting to see how West Brom approach this. Whatever they were trying to do on Tuesday failed miserably and we had plenty of chances and could have scored 4 or so. They're not a possession side, they're very much counter-attacking and I can't see them coming at us hard - they'll more than likely look to sit back and hit us on the break. The good thing about that is if they go too deep, it opens things up for Benteke but if they try to push up they're in danger of Gabby doing them for pace again... cool.
  21. Sherwood's got us moving faster to make up for the lack of clever runs, I think - seems to be working pretty well so far.
  22. He's definitely got the right attitude, the people skills and the respect of everyone at the club - I hope he's got the coaching skills too.
