  1. Jobs for the boys, it seems.
  2. According to wiki, the Watford fans sing his surname to the tune of Gold by Spandau Ballet - awesome! Apparently he's basically 1 in 1 this season? Blimey.
  3. I rated Phillips at Blackpool when he was a youngster - reminded me of Ashley Young. He's changed a lot as a player though, become a hell of a lot more physical - he's built like a brick shithouse now. I still like the look of him though - the kind of athlete that would fit into our system and he's better on the ball than Gabby or Andi.
  4. Bacuna/Richardson as FBs would be a big worry for me - asking for trouble.
  5. As long as it's not bottom three, I'm good. Next season though - and we've been saying this for years now - it better be higher!
  6. It's 9 feet wider, that's quite a bit of extra room to move - especially when you're looking to go round a defender. It means you can be a little less accurate with long balls and they'll still be in play, knocking it past the defender and running after it etc.
  7. It's an extra four and a half foot on each side, that's quite a big difference.
  8. I'm stupidly optimistic about this one. No idea why but a good feeling going into the game - we can do this.
  9. Anyone remember 'Merry Christmas, Everton' when we beat them on boxing day some years ago? I think even Baros scored.
  10. Stuff like that does make a difference, sure - it's surprising how seemingly little things can have more of an effect than you'd guess.
  11. Yeah we argued about it at the time Oz, if you remember!
  12. His Villa career has been pretty Nilis-esque
  13. I was so happy when Hendrie left - absolutely useless.
  14. I like the CDM/CAM diamond more than I like a flat midfield with CMs.
  15. 8.2 million euros? Jesus. Serious money. We could do half that, I suppose.
  16. Hopefully Bent'll go, which will free up a big wedge. More than enough to get Diego's contract sorted, I'd imagine. I don't think it'll happen but it'd be great if it did.
  17. Oh what a crap season it has been. It has - and a massive disappointment. This really should have been a season where we moved to being a safely mid-table team instead of the same shit. A combination of Lambert's stubbornness, a bad fixture list and injuries but I really don't care - I just want to build and move in the right direction for next season.
  18. Guess it's time for this thread again - seeing as the one last year was opened in March. Linked with Diego from Fenerbache today in The Metro (blacklisted so couldn't start a thread about it) http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/13/aston-villa-cleared-to-make-transfer-bid-for-fenerbache-midfielder-diego-5148535/ Nothing pertinent there but imagine signing him - that'd be the most exciting signing we'd made in years, for me.
  19. The rustiness was shaken off - that's the kind of performance we've seen from him quite often. He's a great defender.
  20. He's inconsistent on the ball - his passing can be good or bad.
  21. Its only natural lexi we have had so much pain and misery over the years it just feels like something will go wrong But i say enjoy the good things going for us at the moment. a win against a horrid spurs team, clean sheet, tekkers scoring and a cup semi and wembley! Up Tims Villa I am usually pretty optimistic and hopeful for the future but I just don't know about Sherwood. I hope he succeeds, obviously and I'll enjoy any wins we get.
  22. What on earth are you on about? That's so contradictory. 'Yes they were breaking ' - that's dangerous. He stopped the break. If he fouled someone on the edge of the area, it would have been a far more stupid thing to do as it would mean that they'd have a great scoring chance. He stopped the break and nullified that threat. Sanchez is a good player and unfairly maligned on here. His passing is inconsistent - sometimes good, sometimes not but he wins the ball well and is generally a bit of a rock of a DM. I agree with lexicon, we were in deep trouble hadn't sanchez did not do that. also we don't exactly have a great record of not conceding late goals do we? What if we had conceded a late goal because we only had 10 men on the pitch? The idea that it is a good thing to get yourself sent off has to be nonsense, even if our manager thinks so. Anyway, don't think we'll miss Sanchez that much. That would be a very good point had we actually conceded and that scenario played out. As it is, in reality, it's just another mindless piece of criticism based on a hypothetical set of circumstances that didn't happen. What if they had scored from the break? See, I can play too. Christ.
  23. Still shouldn't be playing at RB. Definitely an asset in midfield IMO.
