  1. Think it is waaay to early to talk about sacking him. Pretty clear that the club management are backing him to bring through these young players and see a pick up of results. Personally, I always thought the first ten games were going to be hard.. but the Stoke game is looking pretty important for both sides right now!
  2. He played very well for Blackburn against Liverpool in the cup last year. Let's hope he can do the same tomorrow.
  3. I think we will get better. I'm hoping by the time of the Swansea/Tottenham games we will be looking more of a unit. The fact is though that as a young team - both in age and time spent together as a squad - it was always going to be a tough beginning. Big week this week though.
  4. Guzan's confidence is shot to shit. Has been ever since Man City and being dropped. Would suggest we take him out of the firing line, but we have few other options. Any free agents?
  5. I played Gaelic football from age 9 to 18. I am about as Irish as a stir fry. Which team? Sorry to veer OT but I think it is a good experience for footballers to play a sport like gaelic football. Certainly an added physical dimension that helped Grealish for one 'toughen up'.
  6. I still can't quite believe that story about Lambert having the 6-1 win over Sunderland in a framed picture in his office. That's the sort of thing Sherwood would piss himself laughing at.
  7. Doesn't sound like Darder is very happy at Malaga: From marca.com: http://www.marca.com/2015/08/06/futbol/equipos/malaga/1438857881.html
  8. Collymore's clearly talking about Delph. He's coming back boys, the snake has re shed his skin and found that the next layer is claret and blue.
  9. Salut Biakko I asked this question the other day - from the clip on youtube, he looks a little bit like a Steve Gerrard type midfielder. Is that a fair comparison (I know that he is not that good yet)?
  10. What's in those boxes? Cakes for the lads? Nothing. Just proving he is a box to box midfielder.
  11. From looking on youtube, he appears to be in the mould of a young Stevie Gerrard - all action, combative, can play all through the midfield. Is that a fair comparison to those that have seen more of him?
  12. L'equipe are reporting it too - they are normally pretty reliable. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Jordan-veretout-nantes-proche-d-aston-villa/577397
  13. I'd give it to Micah Richards.
  14. That's the dream now? 3 cheers for Randy because we won't go bust? **At least we are not Leeds**
  15. According to Pete Colley, takeover has failed. Randy stays on.
  16. How many more times what? Will he be passed out on the street? Hopefully none. Will he be photographed sitting in a chair? Probably hundreds. It depends what we want to hang him for really. How many more times will he be photographed with carrots is the real question. How many more times Jack?
  17. I thought this photo was taken a few days BEFORE his little rest on the pavement.
  18. That's not strictly true - he will accept blame. For example. he admitted that he got his tactics wrong for the game against Man Utd. He is searingly honest, which will obviously not be to everyone's liking. For me though, I am still finding it refreshing.

    Losers

I've lived outside of Brum for years now, and it is not true that the rest of the country thinks we are a laughing stock or anything. And even if they did, who cares? The first thing we need to do is stop the rot at home. We need to get back to Villa Park being a horrible place for away teams to come. From teh fans side, try and generate as an intimidating atmosphere as possible (This will be hard to accomplish) and from the players side, stop being a soft touch. What I like about Sherwood is that he seems to be a bit of a nutter. That is what we need - someone seriously committed who will point blank refuse to take any bollocks, refuse to lie down and will tell the players home truths. Sure this will ruffle feathers, but this is what we need. Let's shake the place up.
  20. 3 of his grandparents are Irish Yes so are mine but that doesn't make me Irish. Without wanting to open a massive OT can of worms, I think you just have to go with people's own personal perceptions and interpretations. I consider myself Birmingham Irish - born and raised in Brum to Irish parents (who subsequently went back to Ireland). My kids - who are, if you like, the same as Grealish, ie, third generation Irish - still have a real connection with Ireland, support them (and England) when it comes to football/rugby and play gaelic football etc. Basically, the roots can be deep.
  21. I remember when Sherwood took over I think he said we would need six wins to survive. At that moment, I thought he was close to crazy.. so low was morale and poor the teams performances that I couldn't see where the next point was coming from. He really has done a terrific job. Developing a huge man crush on him, as I am sure you are all too.
  22. He floats across the park doesn't he? Just so light on his feet. All those balloons must have paid dividends
  23. Looks like medial ligament damage in his knee. Sherwood said afterwards it is unlikely he will be fit for Wembley. Gabby tweaked a hamstring too, so he is an extreme doubt too.
  24. The Secret Footballers tweets that Lerner has agreed to sell us to the American Phoenix Group.
