  1. Really gutted for him. Think he has acquitted himself really well whenever he has had to lead the line. Let's hope he comes back all the stronger.
  2. IF he were to sell, how much do you think Villa would be worth?
  3. I'm in Team HH. Let's see where we are come the end of January. I know we have some serious problems to address, but given the remit of his job, I don't think Lambert is dramatically underpeforming. Lambert has to sign cheap players on low wages. If you want an explanation as to why we are where we are, then surely the blame can't lie with him?
  4. But we're not lower table in terms of funding at all, you're believing the nonsense peddled by some. We've spent £43m, and according to Paul Faulkner and Robin Russell it was Lambert's decision on how he spent it. The fact that he has spent that amount of money, and has turned us into the dreariest team in the Premier League is why I want him gone. Since when have we spent £43 million? Also, if you want him gone, who do you want as a replacement?
  5. We were much better second half and I think we merited that win. You could see the players confidence rise as soon as we scored. I think it is easy to forget that we are still a young team and still have much to learn. Good solid win that - don't think you can moan too much about Lambert today...
  6. Clark actually put some decent crosses in today. Thought he did OK at left back. Kozak and Benteke were treading on each others toes at times but it was a really good strikers header from Tonev - leaning backwards and getting enough power to put it into the net.
  7. I thought he did really well today. Caused Kompany problems in the air and held the ball up well. As has been said, he was superb at winning free kicks at the end - really clever play.
  8. If Luna gets injured, we bring on Tony Moon.
  9. Like others, I cannot wait for Ireland to go. He hasn't played since Bradford has he?
  10. The Basel player I was most impressed with during their Europa League run was Mohammed Saleh. Lightning quick winger in the Aaron Lennon mould. Only 20 too.

    Relegation

Perfectly possible. It has happened before But if you want my gut feeling. Newcastle will go down with 37 pt I'm with you here Bicks. Here's hoping.
  12. Before yesterday, we hadn't won back to back games since May 2011. And to be fair they were slightly freakish end of season wins. The rot, the decay in our club runs a lot deeper than Lambert. It started before he joined us. As he said, don't underestimate the magnitude of the last two results. We are not out of the woods by any means but the last few weeks we look like a proper side and, as Lambert has said, we have probably deserved a few more results in our favour. When I walked out from the Bradford semi final I was shell shocked. I thought we were down and oblivion beckoned. The fact we are not, and the fact we have won two on the bounce is a huge credit to the players and the coaching staff. It is also a monumental credit to the supporters of our club, who turned out in big numbers to support our team against QPR. That shows you what kind of club we are. There is a unity around our team and fans that I love and hope it will see us safe. If we can pull it off, I believe there is reason for genuine optimism looking forward. I've always believed in Lambert - the last few weeks have shown just why.
  13. Who is the guy on the left? Brian Doogan, head of media at Villa
  14. Trouble is our 'older heads' are by and large a bunch of muppets aren't they? Would you really want to take career advice from the likes of Warnock, Ireland or Hutton? Our only real natural leader is Petrov, who has obviously had bigger battles this season.
  15. We are playing quite well at the moment. If we play like we did at Arsenal for the rest of the season, I think we can have a decent chance of survival. I still think someone else is going to get sucked in - be it Norwich, Newcastle or Sunderland. At the moment, I would say Sunderland are the most likely candidates to get sucked into the mix. The good thing for us is that we know we are in a fight where as I am not sure Sunderland have that mindset yet.
  16. You don't really get the feeling anyone is really in control of what is going on do you?
  17. What were the purpose of his subs? What was he trying to achieve? Surely getting back into the match, away at Arsenal, a better tactic would have been consolidation? protect what we have etc. Did the subs win us anything today? The points lost in the last few mins over the past few weeks - times when subs etc typically make a big difference - could and probably will cost us massively not only for this season but if we get relegated for many seasons to come. Personally, I don't think the subs had a major effect on the game either way. You could argue that KEA was brought on to tighten things up for starters. Was there anyone on the bench who could've done much different?
  18. So what should he have done differently with his subs then?
  19. Thought the team was set up well today. Looking at the bench, not sure who some here think Lambert should have brought on, but from where I was he got it right.
  20. He was poor today. I think in hindsight, his decision to wear a sandwich board saying "please sign me Arsene, please" around his neck must have weighed him down. Spent the first 20 minutes trying to score a wonder goal, then pretty much disappeared.
  21. How do we think young Master Ireland will react to this sleight? Come out all guns blazing? Show Lambert who is wrong by forcing his way back into his plans? Or will 'Mr Misunderstood' cut a disenchanted and alienated figure, grumbling about it to anyone who cares to hear about the latest chapter in the tailspin that is his career?
  22. Might pop in on Wednesday Look for people with an ankle tattoo. You may need to pretend to drop your keys, to get a close look. Judging on current status, he is probably drinking in Wetherspoon's now.
  23. Randy reputedly used to drink in the Anglesea Arms down in South Kensington. Anyone been in there recently?
  24. Sylla wasn't really on long enough to make any real kind of impression. He had a couple of touches, ran a round a bit. The usual. One thing I would say is that I can imagine him having some interesting hairstyles. Don't know why.
