  1. They're all wrong anyway. Yeah, those guys wish they could be half as good as Grealish
  2. Noticed that too, so looks like we massively improved revenue, I'm assuming that's just new TV money, or has that not started yet? If no, where's that extra cash come from?
  3. Has been considered as a way to humanely execute people in certain states of America. And is also used as anaesthetic for surgeries and dentistry. Just because too much of something can kill you doesn't mean people should be vilified for taking a small amount. Chocolate is poisonous if you have enough of it. The media once again making mountains out of molehills.
  4. Can't really feel sorry for someone being paid £40,000 a week to play football in the premier league. I feel sorry for someone who is Villa through & through yet couldnt stay involved due to Lambert's silly decision. His dream must have been to play for us. Hence, I feel sorry for him, I don't feel sorry for him, he was treated almost as if he was some god by some fans despite having done the grand sum of **** all in his career. He is not very good and gets paid a ludicrous amount of money to very rarely play football, why feel sorry, cause he's a Villa fan? It was my dream to play for Villa when I was growing up but it didn't happen, feel sorry for me? I don't have anything against the guy and hope he has a decent career, he seemed to put in tonnes of effort when he played, but the fact is he's a winger that isn't very fast, doesn't score, can't beat a full back with skill and his crosses always looked fancy but never got past the first man. If we could've got him to stay for between £10k-20k pw, I wouldn't have minded, but lets be honest, Lambert not giving Albrighton £30k+ pw is probably one of the wisest decisions he made at the club!
  5. Whilst what you say is probably right, you would have thought they might wait a week or two before announcing it surely? I mean, if I was a Plop fan right now, reading that Henderson is about to get a £100k p/w contract just days after being completely anonymous in arguably their biggest game of the season, a game where they were outplayed by a team that might still get relegated, I'd think it was a bit of a slap in the face. I know teams shouldn't make these decisions based on one game and securing Henderson's contract is probably a high priority for them right now, but the Liverpool fans have a fair bit animosity towards the manager/club atm, so announcing this almost seems as if they're rewarding their own ineptitude. I don't think the contract is that bad, the timing is just odd, and I don't think they'll get the reaction they might have hoped for.
  6. In his early days at City I thought he was going to be the new Gerrard he looked a great prospect. Just a sad tale of a young lad liking a drink and a bite to eat too much and also a massive 5 year deal early on which wrecked things. Like a drink and bit to eat? He suffered from serious mental issues, alcoholism and depression. Not to mention the constant injuries he had, all a bit sad really.
  7. The difference is, Benteke is about 7 years younger and obviously offers much more to the team than Bent. Benteke has more than goals to his game, Bent doesn't. For me, Bent over the last few seasons can be summed up by our home game v Norwich in Lambert's first season. Winning 1-0 and Bennett gets sent off just before HT (I think). Second half we are under a lot of pressure but we are dealing with it comfortably, whenever we win the ball back, it's played to Benteke who holds the ball up a bit and we counter. Then with roughly 30 minutes to go, Benteke comes off for Bent. Suddenly whenever we clear the ball, it goes up to the Norwich defence and they attack again. We were under constant pressure for the last 30 minutes because we had no outlet. Bent was constantly losing/not winning the ball. At one point I remember that Bent evidently got bored and started standing on the edge of our own box.. We ended up conceding and drawing. When Bent doesn't score, he's a passenger, and relegation battlers can't afford to have passengers. Bent hasn't been scoring enough the last few seasons to justify keeping him, and doing well in the Championship is no reason to ignore that. When Benteke doesn't score, he is still a handful for defenders and can create chances, so trying to justify Bent's terrible record by comparing to Benteke is absurd, especially when Benteke was coming back from injury (and now has 8 goals in the last 6 games).
  8. Do we know why he was there? Apparently Swindon have a player that Sherwood made Tottenham U21's captain whilst he was there, Luongo or something. Could be a potential summer signing I suppose.
  9. Would prefer it to the shitty relegation battles which we have to put up with You say that, but it's entirely possible we could finish above them, they're only 3 points ahead of us! If it wasn't for the fact they have WBA in the run in, I'd tip them as dark horses to go down. They could lose the rest of their games and stil stay up. 35 points is enough Exactly the kind of attitude they seem to have, and one that could drag them into the relegation battle. As I said, they have WBA, who I think they'll beat, so I don't think they're going down. But that wasn't my point, you were bemoaning our situation that fans have to put up with as if Newcastle's situation was infinitely better, yet it is not unlikely that we could finish above them. Newcastle seem to have a squad of disinterested players who don't give a shit about the club and dangerously close to another relegation threatened season. Whatever you think of our current squad, even under Lambert, at least they'd get up for a game v Blues, which can't be said of Newcastle's squad, so I'd rather put up with our shitty relegation battles to be honest.
  10. Seriously can't see them picking up any more points this season, they have a brutal run in, and they seem to think they're already safe. I think they need to hope that at least 3 other teams don't get 33 points.
  11. Would prefer it to the shitty relegation battles which we have to put up with You say that, but it's entirely possible we could finish above them, they're only 3 points ahead of us! If it wasn't for the fact they have WBA in the run in, I'd tip them as dark horses to go down.
  12. Too soon perhaps? No, he was dire. A tap in doesn't change the fact that Brentford dominated the entire game, Derby were overrun in every department today. Oh, I'm sure he was shite, I would rather he never wear a Villa shirt again, but it is quite funny that he scored after you made that post
  13. Grealish playing well, but his set pieces have been shite!
  14. Nothing wrong with what he did. Anything other than the foot, once it's not manufactured, ie kneeling down to knee the ball back for the keeper to pick up Yeah, just looked it up, it specifies that the knee is ok, shame.
  15. So, um, what's the rule on backpasses then?
  16. Best response to a goal I've seen from us in a while! Come on Villa!
  17. Richard would have been a better ref tbfh A toddler would have been better. All the refs have been terrible this season, they should completely replace them, but if this is how bad Premier League refs are, how bad are football league refs?
  18. Did you see why he's complaining about the refs? It's absolutely insane, the ref missed one of the most obvious back passes you'll ever see whilst PSG were at 2-2 in the last 5 minutes and went on to lose 3-2. It was a decision that effectively lost PSG the game or if reffed correctly could have given PSG a great opportunity to score to make it 3-2, instead the ref missed it and Bordeaux went on to win. One instance he's complaining about how the entire Chelsea team crowded the ref to get him sent off for a slightly mistimed tackle, the other instance is complaining that a ref somehow missed this: http://streamable.com/f6yz
  19. Nope, that's on the FA Cup coverage at 23:15. That's right 30 minutes dedicated to QPR v Spurs
  20. Nemanja Matic injured himself whilst pulling a John Terry last weekend
  21. OT, but both, defence is UK and defense is US.
  22. He hasn't tried to build a defence yet though at Everton. He's still using what he inherited and what did quite well last season. I think the only defender he's brought in is Alcaraz isn't it? Exactly, and all but Coleman in that defence is 30+ now, the defence last season was a hangover from Moyes, and now the cobwebs are starting to show but Martinez has done nothing about it. As you say, the only defender he's bought has been Alcaraz, a 32 year old CB that couldn't get in the team Martinez had just relegated, just nowhere near enough to even begin to fix any problems at the back. I suppose Joel Robles too, but he's in the same boat as Alcaraz, only younger. Distin is 37, Howard 35 (and a bit over-hyped), Jagielka 32, and in terms of back ups, Hibbert is 34 and the rest (bar Robles and Alcaraz) are all untried youth players. Martinez needed to begin to replace them last summer, try to preemptively bring in younger players who could deputise for a year or two and could be called on if needed. This season saw Martinez's first attempt to organise Everton's defence, and he's shown how bad he is at it. I said it in the relegation thread, and I'll say it here, given the time, Martinez will relegate Everton eventually.
  23. That's because he's not a very good manager, last season he benefited from inheriting an organised Moyes defence, now all of their starting back 5 bar Coleman are in their 30s and beginning to decline, and Martinez is awful at building defences, which luckily for us is dragging Everton towards the bottom 3, if not this season (doubtful) Martinez will eventually take them down when Jagielka, Distin, Baines and Howard need replacing.
