  1. The thing we are using to outplay teams in the midfield recently. Man City last season and Arsenal when we lost 5*0. What encouraged me is we had a good battle in the midfield. Veretout was dribbling comfortable. Sanchez is a beast and a warrior. Gana everytime youd think hed lose the ball and somehow he manage to keep it. Finally Carles to complete the diamond. Instead of Sinclair just put a proper striker either Libor or Rudy. And lets say how will it work.
  2. Newcastle arent far from us. They really know how to **** it. Last season is a perfect example for that. I wont rule them out. Even if they have some quality in their team. Swansea have been class and had a good window. Yet they are in a free fall. Theyve beat us in a game of onfidence as we all dont have it. Have they lost that they would have been with Newcastle interms of points. League places changes a lot. I would us us being alert earlier is much better than us being in a freefall in the half of the season like last season. Tbh I wasnt taking this seriously until after the Stoke game. And much more after the Swansea game. Now we could begin fighting with spirit early on.
  3. Bournmouth and Norwich have a very bad games coming. Newcastle and Sunderland have more tricky games like us. Swansea have mixed ones. If we somehow won against Everton, I think a Bournmouth win next week would do us good. They still have to play 4 of tge big boys I assume. WBA are another team who could get dragged soon to this s**t. Them losing next week and us winning would put them in some pressure. Chelsea have a big say in this right now. Theyll be playing couple of relegation teams. They either up their game and climb the table. Or do a big surprise by entering the relegation zone at this stage. Lets just win next game and things will look bright. Even that we wont be outside of the relegation zone by then.
  4. true, in theory a Sanchez, Gana and Veretout midfield 3 has a good balance to it if it can settle, but Westwood is an underrated footballer IMO and well worth a squad place. The whole corners thing has put a bigger downer on him than he deserves really. YeaIts not that he isnt good. He just shouldnt be a starter all the time. One of him or Sanchez at a time. Play him against lesser opposition while Sanchez at the more difficult games. true, in theory a Sanchez, Gana and Veretout midfield 3 has a good balance to it if it can settle, but Westwood is an underrated footballer IMO and well worth a squad place. The whole corners thing has put a bigger downer on him than he deserves really. yeah I forget to talk about his setpieces. He keeps taking it and frustrates us. That must be one of the most reasons of why people underrate him more. This season he played many matches besides Sanchez. Tbf hes not better than Sanchez at all. But hes a good option to have and could be useful in certain games. Ive seen a lot worse in the PL.
  5. I remember him going into this form last season. Towards the end of season he faded and he started losing balls regulary. In general Gil is much useful. But Grealish ould develope into a very good player as he could do some magic himself. But as its been said he need to cut from the wing.

  7. Most of what we were depending on Benteke this guy is capable of. However he certaknly lacks the tricks, magic and the moments of brilliance that Benteke had. Im talking about playing on the ground. However he seems better in the aerial ability. I had all my doubts away in Liverpool game. And Im not considering his goals btw. Im not that all with PL experience. Especially with physical players. Championship experience hasnt stop Wilson from banging them in the league. Our own Rudy has scored more than Benteke this season with less game time in a worse team. This isnt a suggestion hes any better. But considering the step up and his fitness also. All that with a very good scoring ratio. He has a strength which he could be considered the best in the league. He might lack some football basics. But other players has their job to play to his ability. If the ability of Kozak and other poachers were movement. This guys have strength and also not bad positioning. They all lack techniques anyway. I dont think there is a player who would have fit us in the league as Benteke replacement more than this guy. In terms of presence and aerial ability. Im saying that with knowing what he lacks. I dont think we could afford to play with only small striker. We should do if we only pllayed trio of Jack Gil Adama. We couldnt afford to play with all of them apart from certain home games or halfs. Its not as Rudy is super useless in the box. Hes an ok poacher and not bad positioning. He could have ups and downs as Benteke himself. Confidence could be an issue. Not playing on his strength too. But in the end he is a great option to have. Im not that gutted even with him as a starter. Would have liked another one to share the burden. But this guy seem a really good one. And to be fair, I like big and strong strikers. It gives me more confidence about my team. Especially a struggling one like ourselves.
  8. I would like to go with Guzan Hutton . Richards . Lescott . Amavi Veretout . Sanchez . Gana Ayew or Gil . Gestede . Grealish With Adama and Sinclair as a speedy options from the bench. Gestede to bully the defenders. Adama to come and burn pace on them. Gil and Grealish to create chances.
  9. I'd say 2 goals in his first 10 games is starting pretty slowly, Ah, "lies, damn lies and..[football] statistics", eh? 2 goals in his first 10 LEAGUE games, OK. But then 3 goals in his first 11 and 5 in his first 14. Or if you just take the first 10 games he played for villa in all comps, it's 4 in his first 10. So I guess it's where you decide to start and stop counting, and what you count. Anyway, this thread is about Ayew and it would be good to stop talking about Benteke here. He only played 10 minutes in the fourth game also. So you could say its two in 6 or 7. He wasnt even signed in the first couple of games. Didnt have any preseason too. Not trying to say bad things about Ayew, I appreaciate him needing time. I was just talking about Bentekes beginning.
  10. Amavi , Veretout and Traore. But for now im impressed with Gueye instead of Veretout and Sinclair.
  11. Im now really depending on him being the striker with movement we need. He was the less big signing I was excited for. Yet Im really thinking he could benefit us. Maybe because I thought we were willing to get another striker. Now its up to him to show us if he really worth what weve paid for him.
  12. Despite the facts that he gave away the free kick that led to the first goal, because he was behind the play and secondly was responsible for the breakdown in play that led to the second. Rule 1: defenders need to be good at defending. Going forwarding he was excellent, he made some great tackles BUT he was partly responsible for both their goals. Although clearly he is one of our better players atm, VT does make me laugh sometimes. Goal last week, Guzan rolls ball to Amavi, Amavi loses it - Guzan thread jumps 10 pages with people calling for him to be replaced and at fault for the goal, Amavi thread jumps 2 pages with people gushing over him being our best player despite 1 little error. Goal this week, Amavi caught out of position needlessly fouling a player 25 yards from goal and the resulting free kick flies into the top corner - Guzan thread jumps a few pages with people bemoaning his awful positioning, and he was at fault for the goal, Amavi thread continues to be filled with people gushing over him being our best player and only 1 person mentions his part in the goal Us football fans are a funny lot sometimes Put it that way. You could accept mistakes from good players while its different with bad players. There are players who offers a lot while doing the odd mistake. Players who offers less need to make it up for them. Its not as blaming who hasnt done anything wrong. Last week it was a mistake between Guzan and Amavi. Two of them were good this season. Guzan getting blamed for his distrubution not for his goal keeping. His mistake against City last season wasnt something which needs to be learned. It was a rushed mistake and overconfidence with bad decision. Its not something to do with bad goalkeeping. Same goes with Amavis mistake. 13. Theyve got a lot of big names. They are really needing a striker. Are there many options out there? Whats the difference between Austin and Kane ? Consider whos playing behind both of them. Now im not saying Austin is the best for them. But who are the big names that are in the market ? Theyd have him for tge short term ofcourse. With only 2 days to go. Things could go this way.
  14. What I read is that he will be representing Mali. I dont remember reading any quotes though. What I read is that he will be representing Mali. I dont remember reading any quotes though.
  15. It was not his goals though. His effect was always there. He ripped Liverpool apart. Threw Smalling and assisted that goal. Scored couple of goals that period. So its not just about his goals. Ive seen enough from him in the first couple of games to suggest hes better than anything we have. Its not as writing Ayew off. As some players need formation right for them, confedence and settling time. Weve seen it with Cleverly for example. But to suggest that Benteke didnt have special things in his beginning was really wrong. he won us three of our first 5 wins. One of the one he didnt win it by himself he came as a sub to score the second. I think he won us couple of draws too before the new year.
  16. Yes. Lambert was complaining that Sherwood was given more to spend than him, but the graph shows that Lambert actually was backed better than Sherwood. I supported Lambert for 2 seasons +, but he is beginning to annoy me now. Transfer window is not closed. Wasn't it report that Sherwood was going to be given £20m? If so, Tim still has 15m to spend. Even though, he would still just match the net spend for Lambert first season. And there was a lot of deadwood which werent offloaded. Also the new TV deal goes into Sherwood side too.

I supported Lambert for 2 seasons +, but he is beginning to annoy me now. Same as me. If he just doesnt talk this annoying way I would keep my respect to him. He went to a really really dire moments last season. Yet he came out and say he doesnt blame Delph going ! While the fans were angry about Delphs way not his departure in particular. The difference in Villa game during Lambert and Sherwood during last season was obvious. Yet he keep talking about backing Sherwood with money.
  18. Is he really like Gabby in terms of pace ? He isnt quick in anything Ive seen from him. What impressed me was his tackling and some aerial duels. He clearly seem more technical than Gabby. Im still not sure about his main position. He played wide Vs Bournmouth. Striker Vs Man Utd. I dont think hes a good winger. Nor a game against Utd could test a striker. How did he do Vs Notts is interesting though. Ive not seen many who were impressed by him there. Still early days but sometimes you could see signs of good stuff.
  19. Well Sinclair needs to start after the hatrick anyway.
  20. Typical Villa ! Hope it get sorted second half.
  21. What were the results Palace away, Utd at home last season ? How many points did we have after 3 games last season ? Wheres the evidence that TS can take us forward ? - Most people are seeking comfort in the fact that the manager and players are all unknown to us - I don't see a jot of evidence that we won't be down the bottom this season ? Whats our last season results against QPR Hull Burnley away Combined last season ? Weve already had 2 more than those three games if youre doing it this way. Yes there are mistakes from Sherwood. But who doesnt ? We are a fully new team, losing our two superstars ! I would agree that we paid a lot for Ayew "and that was my opinion since we were linked to him". But hes now our player and weve paid the money. All teams have signings which doesnt work or overpriced. I wont say Gestede is a bad signing at anycase. Well maybe not week in week out. But a good option to have. Get Adebayor on loan and we are sorted. Or much prefebly Austin. the signings which arent exciting are Bunn, Crspo, Ayew, Sinclair. Out of 10. Weve paid only for one who seems overpriced signing. In general we had our best window in ages. And one of the best in the league. The mighty West Ham, Southampton, Spurs and Newcastle are still struggling to win. We lost to a team who we usually lose to. And the other team who are better than us at the moment and by our mistakes. What were the results Palace away, Utd at home last season ? How many points did we have after 3 games last season ? 22. The thing with him is he is not a much team player so he would suite a ream like us more than Barca. His pace is frightening. The this with it is hes good technically. Let him see some space and he will try his own. Double check him and the Gil Grealish could have more fun. Really excited by this team. If the result was a draw the goal taste would have been a lot better. Id start him against Notts and atleast give him half an hour against Sunderland.
  23. Exactly this. More options make the opposition uncertain who to cover. Very promising. Him,Grealish and Guzan are the bright sides of the game. It was arguably our best performance this season. But very bad second half overall.
  24. abdulaziz1 ManUtd 2 0 Newcastle Palace 2 3 Villa Leicester 1 2 Spurs Norwich 1 2 Stoke Sunderland 1 3 Swansea WestHam 2 1 Bournemouth WestBrom 0 2 Chelsea Everton 1 2 ManCity Watford 1 1 Southampton Arsenal 2 1 Liverpool GWs=1
  25. Id argue as we already have Kozak who is a poucher and Gestede who is overall better than Bent. Neither played our first game nor those three. Infact we were the least team creating chances in the first two games *looks familiar lol*. Few chances you could say a better striker could have put it. We could argue about the goal scorers when these players are back. I think Kozak would do Bent job if needed. Its more than Bent quality which we are asking for, an improvement in what we have already so we could feel more comfortable.
