  1. Call me a traditionalist, but I expect midfielders to actually have some ability on the ball rather than without it. Otherwise we may as well sign Mo Farah, bet he could put in a cracking shift. tbh none of them are that bad individually, but they really do not complement each other at all. I think they do compliment each other, but yesterday it was pretty dreadful. I think Sylla compliments Delph and Westwood, as we saw last season. Delph is a lot better than KEA, he is basically our 'Cabaye'. A poor mans version but a version at least. I'd actually like to see Bacuna given another chance outside of the right back role, whether it be in the middle of the park or out in the wing. Maybe Bacuna and Delph with Sylla sitting behind them to mop up. Bacuna and Delph are both quick and attack minded, but they can also defend well. Might be worth a shot. Not sure about Bacuna back in midfield. He really was shocking against Liverpool. I mean really really aweful It was Bacuna's full debut and in hindsight perhaps not the best game to throw him in at the deep end. We've missed Sylla's energy and his ability to press the opposition so it's a no brainer for me to reunite him with Delph and Westwood and give them a run of games together before judging them.
  2. I hope he's back for the Boggies game.
  3. Agree KHV, at least he is prepared to run at defenders and commit them into tackles. Yes he is frustrating and unpredictable but he's a different option to what we already have.
  4. As Lambert has pointed out he's only a year or so into an extensive rebuilding process so I'm happy to reserve judgement at this point. We've been guilty in recent history of resorting to quick fixes so unless something drastic happens like relegation then I'm happy to let him take the time he believes it will take to take our club forward.
  5. A fit Gabby is an asset to the team. He can stretch the play with his pace. He seems to play well against Wet Spam so i hope he's okay for the weekend.
  6. Ditto. Both my lads play on a sunday so that's 3 season tickets going spare. It's bloody annoying especially as Fulham is also on a sunday so that's 2 games in a row I'll miss.
  7. For us of a certain age, radio choice is pretty limited especially when commuting now that Kerrang is only available digitally. I'm too young for PlanetRock and far too old for Radio 1. Talksport is on by default.
  8. Can't abide Moose or Mick Quinn. Danter is amusing for a bluenose but now only listen to this station as a last resort.
  9. I'd rather we paired Delph and Sylla together. They compliment each other.
  10. It's a close call at the moment, keep listening to Black Dog Barking by Airbourne and Led Zepp IV
  11. Airbourne - Live it Up - great song from a great album
  12. the old 3rd decision, effectively now league 1 An" honour" that we unfortunately share. Yes but we only spent 1 season in that division, their stay was a little longer
  13. What an awful statement.
  14. Andi looks short on confidence - I'm a big fan of his but playing out wide isn't working at the moment. Would like to see him play a more central role if we switch formation.
  15. How did this help us on Sunday? The Tottenham game was another indication what a passenger he is when we are not dominating possession. In his own words, his role is to 'protect the defense' and his fails miserably at this time and again. Are you seriously asking why it is important to make yourself available for a pass? Until they scored they weren't hurting us and the second goal came as a result of us chasing the game. It's only his second season in the premier league and you clearly won't cut the kid any slack.
  16. His cameo on sunday was promising - I'd start with him at the Toffees and see how he does and use Andi as an impact sub.
  17. Westwood is excellent at making himself available for a pass, alot of his work is off the ball. One issue on sunday was the lack of movement up front at times which then limited the options for the midfield. It was evident when Delph picked up the ball and beat about 3 Spurs players without moving forward - there wasn't an option to play the ball forward because the strikers were static. Personally I'd go back to a midfield of Westwood, Delph and Sylla and we may then see the form of Westwood improve.
  18. Kozak needs time to adjust to the pace of the premier league. His touch is decent so i've no doubt he'll be an asset. Davies did win the aerial battle at Hull but he's played over 100 games in the premier league and that experience showed. Once Kozak has played a few more games I'm sure he'll cause havoc with the likes of Davies.
  19. It was embarrassing. It's unneccessary. But clearly some might be happy to accept it just because he's a Villa player. Would you?
  20. If it is, then I'd say you are lucky indeed. Let's hope so. From thetrees post though maybe Palladini will rescue them from the brink. There was speculation a while ago that Francis, Carrott and Wiseman were putting together a bid so maybe there are more than just the publicised interested parties.
  21. Still it's a good question. At what point would you say 'sod it' and take a player. If Villa got a 'Mascherano/Tevez' type offer to loan someone like Neymar in the same way that West Ham did a few years back (so it does happen), would you say no thanks he's a diver? I'm guessing you wouldn't. I might be in the minority here but i detest cheats.Any advantage gained by cheating is hollow. Getting back on topic, I'm not disputing the contribution Young gave during his time here but I got increasingly fed up with his theatrics during his final few months. I think as one poster said he's been found out and can't adapt his game. In response to your question, I'm realistic enough to realise we're not dining at the top table anymore and we'll continue to be mid table for the forseeable future. I'd rather we had players that didn't resort to cheating that could improve us instead of say Neymar. I think there are players out there that don't resort to diving so for every Neymar there is also a Messi. It's hypothetical but my original post was that I wouldn't want Young back. I am bemused that my post was interpreted by some as holding a pathetic grudge.
  22. I'm unlucky enough to be in the company of noses on at that time on thursday, let's hope it's the start of the demise for them
  23. I'm not holding a grudge. I don't want a cheat like Young playing for us again. I take particular offence to your comment about my post with references of being pathetic and proper fan. If you can find where I stated I am a proper fan for taking my stance then please point it out to me or are just making assumptions? Ronaldo and Neymar are cheats as well. Would you not want them at Villa? Not ever going to happen is it though? Given a choice I'd rather not have a proven cheat playing for us. I value honesty and integrity above winning. The claret and blue shirt shouldn't be worn by any cheat.
