  1. Couldn't disagree more. Decent player that has struggled with injuries over the last 12 months or so. His versatility alone warrants a place in the squad.
  2. I think I'd go with this. I just missed out on the 81/82 seasons as I was only 8/9 years old. That 95/96 season was great. League Cup winners, finishing 4th and FA cup semi finalists. I'd also have to mention the 89/90 season under GT. We massively over achieved by finishing second and caused a right few upsets. I was 16 years old when we won the league so that season under Ron Saunders was a blast. I was lucky enough to hgave a season ticket and there were 4 of us that travelled to just about every game that season either on the coach or with one of our parents so I have so many memories including the last game at Highgury. The football under BFR was so easy on the eye and for a time the O'Neill era threatened to replicate that. The footballing landscape has changed now and to compare the Lerner reign to HDE's is irrelevant. In Doug's day it was always possible a club like Forest could gatecrash the party and win the league, now it's impossible without throwing tens of millions of pounds at it. For me I was far more frustrated under Ellis as we were arguably within touching distance of winning more honours but he refused to splash the cash whereas Lerner gambled and failed and now we're suffering the consequences of that.
  3. Sums it up for me. We're not playing well but we're 11th with room for improvement. Anyone who thought or expects better in such a short time is either misguided or far too optimistic. The model PL is applying will take alot longer than 18 months to bear fruit.
  4. Past his sell by date like the bulk of their team. RM will get the job but still expect an away victory next sunday.
  5. Great left foot, will be a decent player. Too early to write him off.
  6. Suffering from second season syndrome, not fully fit and appears frustrated with his own performances of late. As Lambert stated when the transfer saga blew up, he has the body of a man but maybe not the maturity of mind to accompany it. That's the crux of the issue for me - he knows he's below the high standards he set last year and is struggling to play his way through it hence the poor body language. You don't lose ability overnight and he will come good but maybe it's time to start Kozak and unleash the beast on a tiring defence rather than start him.
  7. CC is beginning to fulfill his potential as a centre half. More cultured on the ball than either Vlaar or Baker but needs that type of player alongside him to compliment his game. Never a left back though!
  8. In a recent interview Lambert referred to having to strip the club right back before he could rebuild so I agree with the above. I recognise that we haven't made the progress that alot would've hoped for at this stage but as he said we are only 15/16 months into the process so I'm happy to be patient whilst he rebuilds in a more sustainable fashion rather than expect the short term success some might crave.
  9. How many of those were Tonev's grass cutters and Sylla's efforts which were closer to the top of the Brummie than the goal? Not sure but stats show we had more attempts on target than the Disney club.
  10. Yes we were abject first half but still managed more attempts on goal over 90 mins!
  11. Just read through the comments having been at the game last night. Can't understand the fuss about not starting with Gabby, Delph and Andi, as HH states they were running out of steam before the final whistle which is why we couldn't press for the winner. First half Albion were quicker and sharper - there was no tempo to our play. Despite Tonev's pile driver, he was a passenger in midfield as he was static and allowed their players to run past him on several occassions. He's not ready for the intensity of a derby game. We desperately need our full backs fit as neither Clark or Baker can play there. Long had so much time to control what was a hoof ball from the back for his first goal whereas every time we had possession they were snapping at our feet. Overall pleased with a point after an awful first 20 mins. Albion are an average team and we'll finish above them at the end of the season.
  12. Possible spare ticket for tonight - it's a concession but have spoken to Albion ticket office and they have said it can be upgraded at their ticket office. I will know by 4pm if it's free so please let me know if interested
  13. Damn! Was hoping we'd be at full strength. I was in the gym earlier today and this 40 something 8 stone Sandwell supporting turd asked me if i was confident about the game. I politely but curtly told him I was and the smug clearing in the woods said "i'll remind you about that later this week". I doubt the muppet has set foot in their ground in the last 10 years. I'm beginning to despise that lot as much as I do SHA. They're now truly obnoxious f**kwits.
  14. Haven't read through the thread so this team may have been posted previously but I reckon there's alot of smoke and mirrors about injuries and think we will line up ------------------Guzan-------------------- Bacuna-----Vlaar---Clark-----------Luna ------Westwood-Sylla--Delph------------ Gabby--------------------------Weimann ----------------Benteke--------------------
  15. Glad Andi's back and playing, and Tonev back on bench. Obviously i'm glad he's back too. However i personally thought Tonev showed enough against Cardiff to get another chance in the next game. Given the intensity of the game, Weimann should start ahead of Tonev as he's not yet adjusted to the pace of the premier league. I do think we should pair Sylla with Delph in the middle instead of KEA.
  16. They are getting a little above themselves at the moment. If you listen to the local radio the yam yams believe that only Benteke would get into their team. I think both squads are on a par and we have the advantage of having younger players with potential but it does seem that with our injuries piling up the luck is with them rather than us. Having said that I still think we will beat them 2-1.
  17. Gabby's biggest asset is his pace. I don't think his workrate is questionable, sometimes he looks as if he isn't putting the effort in because he doesn't have the sharpest of footballing brains.
  18. I wouldn't. Weimann has natural talent, Gabby has pace. One of those attributes dimishes with age, the other doesn't.
  19. He's impressed me when he's played, albeit in cameo roles. I'd like to see him more involved now as I think he would be a different option to bring on if we're chasing the game.
