I love this.

"I'm lending my experience as a manager for all those years - 10 years at Wimbledon, two years at Nottingham Forest, two years winning promotion at Luton and, of course, almost two years at Newcastle."

It was 7 years at Wimbledon, 11 months at Forest and 5 or 8 months at Newcastle depending on how you look at it.

Safe to say he has a tendency to exaggerate.

You can tell he is from a generation of people who grew up without the internet too.   In this day and age people will check your claims and Kinnear clearly isn't used to that!

I see what you are saying.... but honestly.... I really don't think that is the issue in this case.

well if Romario can count all his goals in under 11 games surely Kinnear can include reserve, under 18 and friendly games :D

I think Romario counts goals he scored while playing FIFA on the Playstation to his career total, doesn't he?

No that's Pele that does that.

I do it too.

I still haven't broken the 50 barrier though :(

Well, what we've all been waiting for..... Pardew has spoken and as expected he doesn't seem to see things the same as Kinnear when it comes to who is in charge.

Pardew though, while open to working with the Irishman, is clear as to who is running the team.

"As the manager of the football club - which I am - I think it's very, very important that the fans and the players know that I am managing this football team."

"That's my contract and that's what I'm going to do."

Pardew acknowledges that there will be huge focus on the working relationship between Kinnear, his scout Graham Carr and himself, but hopes the three men can work together to improve Newcastle's squad and build on last season's disappointing 16th place finish.

He added: "There has been a change above me in that Derek has now left the football club, and I want to thank him for the job he did here. He was terrific for me and the team, and now we have Joe Kinnear in that role, and I hope Joe can influence Mike to a degree and we can bring in some great players here.

"Me and Graham will put them there and hopefully Joe can get them over the line and if that's the case, then hopefully we will have a good scenario out of all this bad publicity that we have had."

"The most important thing is we have a successful season because last year, we didn't."

Cue a Kinnear interview now that's completely the opposite of what Pardew has just said.

Come on, please?

You've been so quiet lately. I'm worried you might be less of a circus than I was hoping for after all.

It will come soon enough, he is probably busy with his weekly phone calls to Wenger, Jose and Sir Alex at the moment. He tried Arry earlier but couldn't get him as he was away sorting out some banking issues with his dog in the Caymen Islands.

Good on Papiss Cisse for refusing to wear the shirt with Wonga blazed over it. He's left their training camp in Portugal and been forced to train alone as a result.

He's doing it on religious grounds, ergo it's a stupid reason (IMHO of course).

He's apparently offered to wear a charity logo on his shirt in instead. So I don't think it's to engineer a transfer. More out a personal religious conviction.

But doesn't have a problem wearing virgin money on his shirt and his wages being paid by Wonga.

Massive difference between companies:

Wonga has raised its standard interest rate to 5,853%. They are alleged to target vulnerable people via social media or get them to rollover debts with new ones (thus increasing Wonga profits). They have no interest (no pun intended) on protecting consumers. It should come as no surprise the OFT are investigating these companies. There isn't much morality left in football but payday lenders are a scurge. Far more than any gambling, alcohol or other financial lender. Especially in the North where the levels of poverty are indeed higher.

Wonga might have invested a great deal in Newcastle but the club still pays Cisse's wages.

What are the reasons, according to his religion, that stop him from wearing a Wonga shirt?

I'm pretty sure religious text does not mention payday loan companies. Someone previously posted the reasons, I think, and it was basically to do with money. Which, I thought, would also effect Virgin Money.

Hmmm

I think the issue is around profitting from loaning anyone some money. I think you can loan someone something but only get that amount back in return.
