TheSufferingVilla Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 I'm thinking a replacement is in order for last seasons goal of the season contender thread, here's a start.Conor Henderson Ireland U21's vs Italy U21's. Our very own Samir Carruthers had a hand in the build up.
GarethRDR Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Marco Terrazzino, SC Freiburg vs 1.FC Nürnberg Skip to 1 minute 30 for Terrazzino's delightful chip and volley.Juan Arango, Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt He's got a foot like a traction engine.
Milfner Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Ex-Blues defender Martin Jiranek screams this ripsnorter in. **** me, it stays hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXVyNFwH1bY
Troglodyte Posted October 13, 2012 VT Supporter Posted October 13, 2012 Juan Arango, Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt He's got a foot like a traction engine. The proof is in the pudding, and the pudding, in this case, is a football. Arango really can hit them though - that was a bloody great goal.
The_Rev Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fECRONOlHXc Neymar again, from last night's Santos match. Seems he is both a great goalscorer and a scorer of great goals. 133 goals in 223 games for club and country, and he is still only twenty years of age. Potentially the best player to come out of Brazil since Ronaldo? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ex9Xcl7ypJo Not a goal, but from the same game.
Stevo985 Posted October 19, 2012 VT Supporter Posted October 19, 2012 Neymar's insanely good from what I've seen. Which granted, isn't a huge amount. I think goal from last season (I won't imbed it as this thread is for 2012/13 is honestly one of the best I've ever seen. The skill he does on the edge of the box is ridiculous Edit: although he loses credit for having a 3 digit number on his back!
Eames Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ex9Xcl7ypJo Not a goal, but from the same game. Fabulous skill, although kudos to the defender for flattening the little piss taker.
GarethRDR Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Amen. My favourite clips of one-time-next-big-thing Kerlon (now found working in a Bangkok laundrette... probably) were always the ones where he got clobbered by an irate centre-half mid-seal-dribble. That'll learn ya, sonny.
TheSufferingVilla Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 ^ ^ The only thing I love more than a cracking goal is some pansy little ponce getting clattered while prancing around with his silky skills by a half-man half-brick of a centre back. Comeuppance almost deserves a thread of it's own
Troglodyte Posted October 21, 2012 VT Supporter Posted October 21, 2012 Wow, Kerlon is now playing for Japanese side Fujieda MYFC, a team 'funded by online subscribers' according to Wikipedia. Apparently struggled a lot with knee injuries during his years in Italy.

CarewsEyebrowDesigner Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 For all Neymar's obvious skill, he is also a diving douchebag. I can't stand him. Admittedly it seems to be the case in Brazilian league games I've seen (seem to be quite popular on ESPN now) diving is commonplace and tolerated by the referees, so it is perhaps harsh to single out a player. But I'm a petty person, so I will do just that.
Troglodyte Posted October 23, 2012 VT Supporter Posted October 23, 2012 Yup, he's brilliant but I'd love to punch him in the face.

Apparently struggled a lot with knee injuries during his years in Italy. except for his seal trick (which is useless) I never really seen anything in him to suggest potentially top player
Zatman Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 not really a talent. a youtube player but he never did anything at senior level to justify his hype
AVFCforever1991 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Yeah the injury really messed him up, convinced he would have gone on to be a great player. Was being hailed has one of the brightest talents in Brazil at one point, but never lived up to the hype.
Milfner Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 George Boyd did this for Peterborough last night against Huddersfield: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88j7ns7p0s8
