b6bloke Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I am moving jobs and my boss who is head of HR is struggling through loadsof CV's and just sent me a clip of someones interests. Looking at this, what interests do you have that uyou just wouldnt put on a CV? Rob? we all know!! This is of someones actual CV!! PC games Diablo III (lvl60 Barbarian and Demon Hunter, inferno level cleared)!!!!! Call of Duty
Stevo985 Posted August 28, 2012 VT Supporter Posted August 28, 2012 Haha that's amazing. To be honest, maybe the person is gambling that whoever is reading the CVs will appreciate that it's something different to the usual "I like to read and play sports and hang out with friends"
mjmooney Posted August 28, 2012 VT Supporter Posted August 28, 2012 Quantum physics, bareknuckle fighting, crochet, coprophagia, artistic nude modelling and Ukrainian folk music.
AVFCforever1991 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Diablo III (lvl60 Barbarian and Demon Hunter, inferno level cleared)!!!!!
Guest Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Let's be honest... it shows that the person is a driven individual who sees things through and overcomes difficult challenges and obstacles put in their path. I'd hire them
rjw63 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Quantum physics, bareknuckle fighting, crochet, coprophagia, artistic nude modelling and Ukrainian folk music. Nice ;-) Vinyl record collecting, downloading hardcore porn, consuming fermented apple juice, pegging, urolagnia and flower arranging.

tarjei Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Hint: If you tried it, chances are it will stink.
saturdaygig Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 When I'm reading CVs I've never been positively influenced by someones interests, only negatively. I saw one once that had interests as train spotting and morris dancing. That went in the bin. I'd recommend not putting any interests down.

I say this as I am looking for a job at the moment.
saturdaygig Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Are you a recruiter? I say this as I am looking for a job at the moment. I work for a footsie company and recruit when I have a vacancy on my team. None at the moment.
TheDon Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Let's be honest... it shows that the person is a driven individual who sees things through and overcomes difficult challenges and obstacles put in their path. I'd hire them I wouldn't. The sort of person that will brag about beating diablo on inferno level are the sort of person that will take time off every time a wow expansion hits, and will constantly come into work like a zombie after staying up till 3am playing games. This is the problem with putting stuff like that on a CV, the people that understand it will know all the negatives about your hobby, and will project them onto you. When I hear about hardcore diablo players I just think poor hygiene, lack of social skills, and unhealthy levels of addiction.
Wainy316 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 what is pegging? or should i just not ask. If you do ask, ask this guy.
johnsonp Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I have recruited for a national telecoms company and personal interests mean nothing these day's. It is all about your exprience and if the discussions pop up abou what you do in you spare time then discuss
Davkaus Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I've always just considered it something to put on a CV if you can't flesh it out with enough things that are relevant to the job. The sort of person that will brag about beating diablo on inferno level are the sort of person that will take time off every time a wow expansion hits This is a problem?
