Newcastle put in bids for Twente striker De Jong and France right back Debuchy....

low bids for 2 quality players...ive got a feeling Newcastle can go higher than that...

if they sign both they are really building something there...

exciting times for Newcastle

AVB liked him RDM didnt...

to be fair though even when he was on form he was moaning because he wanted to play central

i really have absolutely no sympathy for him, surely he knew this would be exactly how his chelsea (and city) career would go? get paid £60k a week and be a cup final sub, if he wanted to play every week he should have joined a different club

Debuchy has an 8million buyout clause and will be good for any club, think its been a cert since newcastle announced they close to signing a player Cabaye knows well

IMO we would be perfect for him too, but i said that at the time when he signed for chelsea, he needs to drop down to mid table and establish himself as 1st choice at a club like us/everton/sunderland/newcastle and then he's still young enough to go get the league chasing clubs when he in theory hits his peak

instead he chased the £60k contracts and ended up on the bench

With Debuchy in there it's a very strong team :|

Newcastle know what their doing. Reckon de Jong will be financed by a forced Ba sale though.

Betting suspended on Stephane Sessegnon transfer from Sunderland to Tottenham btw.

Remains to be seen whether there's something in it, been quiet.

Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba has signed a contract with Chinese football club side, Shanghai Shenhua; to earn €250,000 a week.

I find it funny that footballers these days get paid less when they are in form and doing well but when they start getting older and their productivity declines, they start making more.

That's not really true though is it? You are using an obvious exception and claiming it's the rule. There have been a couple of high profile cases of late (Drogba, Eto'o) but the mind boggling salaries they are on is the only way that these rich clubs in awful leagues can get big names in.

Diame to WHU as has been said on the Villa thread. Apparently Newcastle are close to signing Luuk De Jong - is he any good?

How much for? Didnt they have an 8m bid rejected?

He has scored a lot of goals in the dutch league, but to put that in perspective, so Did Dirk Kuyt.

he looks like a targetman who gets goals, he is a big lad but not sure how mobile he is wouldnt mind Villa taking a punt on his brother Siem who always looks decent when i see him play
