theunderstudy
Now Brook. Been a hideous afternoon for England. Australia haven't even had to have bowled well, the wickets have been gift-wrapped

markavfc40
Good partnership this. Anything approaching 300 would be a good score on this wicket/in these conditions.

Watch the Aussies be 300+ - 3 now
theunderstudy
250-7 at tea. Good mini-recovery by Woakes and Wood after some horrible failures from the supposed batsmen. Australia still on top and you'd bank on them bundling England out for under 300. How much we can limit them to remains to be seen but I'd be surprised if they're not well ahead after both innings
fightoffyour Posted July 27, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 27, 2023 We'd have pissed this series with Wood and Woakes from the start wouldn't we? Actually with this squad, Moeen at 3 for that matter.
sidcow Posted July 27, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 27, 2023 Someone is going to have to explain to me why Bairstow bats ahead of Woakes.

sidcow Posted July 27, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 27, 2023 Right. Need to use these conditions and tear into them now. If they bat the rest of today with only 1 or 2 wickets down it's going to be hard to se an England win if batting conditions improve tomorrow,
theunderstudy
A dismal second half of the innings. Bright but short knocks from Woakes and Wood but 7 wickets for about 100 runs is **** awful. Let's hope we can knock 3 or 4 of these out before close. Bit of a vain hope but we need something like that
PaulC
In a rush to get them in. Now we need to make thr most of these conditions
robby b
Our three experienced batters, perhaps our best in the last 10 years or so, all straight bowled and all out for single figures, 3, 4 and 5. That's not good !

Hard to be critical of them two Well what I meant with "that's not good" is that's not a good situation. Because we generally need one of those three to get a decent score, like 50 ot more. And often one of them does. But not this time.
sidcow Posted July 27, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 27, 2023 (edited) Oh dear. Not really looking dangerous. Have the conditions changed already or are we just rather impotent again? Edited July 27, 2023 by sidcow

PaulC
They keep sticking with Anderson but doesn't look the same bowler he was. Wasted spot in the team really.
