Xela
Oh dear. Should have sent a night watchmen out instead of Root perhaps? Maybe if we lose this (and looks like we will) we can actually make some changes for the 5th test
PaulC
They have a seriously good bowling attack.
andym
Englands attitude has been pathetic. Sloppy, ill disciplined, spraying it all over the place when bowling and brainless shots batting. A lack of talent yes, but Root clearly commands little respect and that filters into the play, Stokes was doing the team talk earlier.

Xela
Despite being 1-1 in the series (at the moment), the Aussies have outplayed us pretty much all summer. Sub standard batting, piss poor captaincy and shocking selections. Heads must roll.

Leach came in because he’s more economical than Ali but gone for plenty this test.

Rodders
Utterly pathetic. Couldn't believe they didn't continue with Broad and Archer after tea, so negative. Root is the shittest test captain we've ever had. Field settings have been rubbish as well. Still at least no great escape won't cover the bollocks this time, will feel sorry for Stokes though, all his efforts for naught. As much as we deserve to lose, dead tests are rubbish. All out by lunch I think, I suspect the spirit has gone from this side.

I'd have Sibley, Ballance, Pope, Hildreth (I know he's old but so is Denly), Northeast and even Vince about those 2. I'd also have Foakes in as well keeping wicket with Bairstow as a specialist batter.
PaulC
I have a feeling Roy will score some runs. Obviously his last chance now.

Vince averages 24.9 in tests to Buttler’s 32.9 - I like him but he hasn’t shown he has the temperament for a test match any more than Buttler has. Xela
I agree, Vince is a stretch but still a better alternative than Roy and perhaps Denly. Foakes would be my Buttler replacement.

Buttler has scored runs in test cricket to be fair but out of form. Root is a terrible captain took all the pressure off the Aussies after tea. Anyway too late now the ashes is gone. Dear rubber at the Oval. Won’t prove a lot if players come in and do well
Zatman
Rogers was 35 when he was made the Australian opener and held it down for a few years, Hussey was also over 30 on debut. age is not an issue. Wholesale changes doesnt just mean throw in youth
PaulC
I think it’s a backwards step to go down that route myself. I just put it all down to the having the ashes after a World Cup. Players are still in one day mode.
tonyh29
Cant see them ditching Overton after one test . i expect Pope to play the 5th test but Bairstow will keep the gloves , think he has some incriminating photos of the selectors in his locker or something
snowychap
I know he made 30 odd but Roy has been utterly unconvincing throughout his innings. Drop him, please.
Xela
When 30 is considered a good effort from one of your front line batters, you know you're in trouble!
