This one is already starting to feel like Barrygate part 2 and we all knew how that one ended, if he does go which wouldn't surprise me if he does, Ireland has to included in the deal as personally I rate him higher, lets face it, Milners has had 1 really good season and all of a sudden he's Lionel Messi, look what happened to Ashley Young after winning all his accolades last season, anyway, When Barry left most of us where up in arms and the truth of the matter is he hasn't been missed and in my opinion we have actually improved, albeit to the fact that Milner is the reason for that but he is certainly far from irreplaceable and Ireland and a £20 + Million is not a bad bit of business, that said of course I do hope he stays of course.

If Man Utd bid 25 million and City bid 30 million, which would you accept. If you wouldn't accept either. Add 20% to each of the bids and ask yourself again.

I think he's gone,

Obviously a player understands as we do, what's happening around the club and reads the papers or gets txts etc...

We all know, he knows whats happening, and how if you want to stay at a club to deal with the situation.

He has made it perfectly clear that he think's he'll be at a different club next year.

I've nothing against that either, its a career.

If he wants to win the league I would have no problem with him going to Chelsea, United or Arsenal.

Any other club NO!

I would loose respect for him if he went to city, but to be honest if a club wanted me that much and would pay the money and give me massive wages and i didn't support the team i played for. I'd go!

Thats just the truth.

Disappointed in his statement, its basically saying come and get me.

Hopefully that works out well for villa!

Milner starred for us in only about 2/3 of theseason after moving central. He will not play for us for 100 years and at some time will have to retire or whatever so if we get the right offer AND he wants to go then so be it. I don't want another Barrygate saga going on all over the Summer.

Sort it asap after the World Cup and lets all move on.

I still remember being gutted when we sold Tony Hateley but life goes on, the club goes on and we carry on.

If that happened, Milner would push for the move to United and we'd take the 25.

Would it then be harsh on Milner for MON to then push for the City move back in order to gain the extra 5m?

I rather him at Man U for slightly less money. Then again City will just go out and buy another big name so maybe wed be better off selling him to City for more money.

Has it occurred to anyone that Milner is just being a clever businessman and basically saying to Randy and Martin that he has every intention of staying but his new contract has to reflect huge improvement, if it where me I'd probably do the same, it's just smart business and lets face it he comes across a quite a sharp individual and it's a pretty simple yet effective negotiation tactic, he didn't actually say he want's to leave, what he really said was if he gets sold, as in we accept a huge offer for him and he has no say in the matter.

James Milner is content to put his club future on hold until after the World Cup but admits he does not know if he will still be at Aston Villa next season.

Milner insists he is focused 100% on helping England achieve glory in South Africa.

But the midfielder is in demand after an outstanding season, with Manchester City tabling a £20million bid on Wednesday for the 24-year-old which was instantly rejected by Villa.

Milner has two years remaining of his current deal at Villa Park which he signed when he made a club record £12million switch from Newcastle in the summer of 2008.

He is due to hold talks over a new contract but is adamant his priority is helping Fabio Capello's side in South Africa - assuming he is part of the final 23-man squad.

Milner said: "Do I expect to be at Villa next season? I don't know. I've worked as hard as I can and concentrated on club football while the season has been on.

"Now it has finished, I'm focusing on England - and that's the only thing I am focusing on.

"The speculation about my own future is not distracting. There are always going to be rumours about every player in every club when the transfer window opens.

"To be linked with any clubs is flattering but I'm just concentrating on England at this time.

"The season finished at Villa a week and a bit ago and we all said we would discuss it (my future) after the World Cup.

"I've enjoyed my time at Aston Villa, it's a good club, we've had a lot of success this season, came close in two competitions, and we are moving forward."

Capello recently described Milner as "the future" for England and he has made great strides this season at Villa after being switched into a central midfield role by manager Martin O'Neill.

But the PFA Young Player Of The Year is determined not to rest on his laurels.

He said: "It is nice to hear praise from any manager but it is then down to you to prove that correct and drive on again and try and improve again.

"You can't stand still especially with the competition that is about. You just want to become the best player possible and do as well as you can every time you train or play a game.

"Have I improved? You would like to think you've improved every season and I am lucky enough to be working at a good club with a great manager and staff and some very good players.

"There are some very good players here with England and, if you can't learn anything from playing with those sort of players, you are going to struggle.

"I'll just keep playing as well as I can and hopefully force my way into the 23."

Milner is the most capped player for England at Under-21 level but knows the World Cup will be an extra step up.

He said: "The World Cup is the biggest competition you can play in. The whole world is watching.

"As a player, you want to play against the best players, test yourself, and play in the best tournaments, whether its the Champions League or World Cups.

"Every player is desperate to get on the plane to South Africa and prove themselves on the biggest stage."

Milner poses a biggest threat as an attack-minded midfielder but is ready to drop anchor and fill the void left by the more defensive-orientated Gareth Barry if his former Villa team-mate is ruled out through injury.

He said: "Whether there is a role for me in place of Gareth is down to the manager. If he asks me to play there, I'll be prepared to play there.

"I've played there most of the season. I'm happy there, there is no difference to playing there than with your club. I'll be happy to play there."

You people must be masters at reading between the lines deciding that he's off based up this. He's made it clear that he isn't interested in discussing his future before the World Cup, nothing more.

If he was to say "I love the Villa, I'm not leaving the Villa" then it could come back to haunt him if the club did decide to sell (which would be out of his hands). On the flip side if he was to state that he wants to leave for whatever reason Capello would be more than a little miffed by the player becoming distracted.

Saying **** all like he has done is the only option.

Whoever offers the most money.

What am I not getting from this question?
