La Liga is even worse than the prem for changing fixtures too I think. They do it at the drop of a hat with hardly any notice.

Hardly any away support compared to premier league so people don't really care unlike here which is understandable.

Deportivo played in Ireland in Champions League qualifier with Valeron, Tristan etc. when they were quality and only something like 6 fans flew for the game

I was stunned about this when visiting Camp Nou earlier in the year for Barcelona v Villarreal. Looked to be only two fans sitting down, far apart from each other in the caged off Villarreal section!

So fixtures finally announced.  Does anyone know when I'll find out if the game is Saturday or Sunday?  That's not purely down to TV is it?

Real are away the weekend I'm in Madrid, so hopefully Atletico play on the Sunday.  If not surely one of Leganes or Girona will as all three are home that weekend.

Oh yeah, Getafe!  I'd just been staring at it on a map too.

So are Saturday and Sunday games usually pretty much split?

Usually no games clash like in England so think usually 4 and 4

Rayo aswell....if you want proper football experience get down the Vallecas if they're at home that weekend you're in Madrid.

Girona are near Barca, it's Getafe you want.

The traditional Spanish day used to be Sunday with games kicking off late evening (equivilant of 3pm over here).

Nowadays pretty much every game is staggered over the weekend. Last season you usually had a game on the Friday evening, one on Saturday at 12pm, another at half 3 and two in early evening. Then Sunday was one at 11am, another again at 3 or 4 ish and then a late one at 7.45. Monday night frequently used aswell but as Zat says usually bottom half teams not involved in europe.

So it could really be at any time.

It's Rayo that are away at Athletico that weekend.  Just hoping it's on the Sunday.

Not sure I like the idea of the staggered kick offs.  It's bad enough in England.

Interesting signing by newcomers Huesca.

Quote

Huesca sporting director Emilio Vega has defended the club’s signing of Ruben Semedo and he ‘has played matches in prison’.

The central defender left jail last week after spending five months behind bars by paying a €30k deposit and has joined the newly promoted club on loan from Villarreal.

The 24-year-old was charged with a number of offences including robbery, assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.

“Ruben is in a very good condition physically and he played matches in prison,” Vega said on Cadena Ser.

“This club and this city will be good for him, it is a tranquil place and extremely welcoming, it will be like a family for him to allow him to perform to his highest level.

“We will not judge him, he is here because of his football talent and it is up to the justice system to make a ruling and we must always act on assuming people are innocent.

“We will not monitor him away from the pitch, he will have to follow the same rules as the other 23 players in the squad and if he does not, he will be punished.

“Everybody deserves a second chance.”

On 20 February, Semedo was detained for supposedly tying up and assaulting a man in his home alongside two others, then proceeding to go to the victim's house to rob the property.

The Portuguese must remain in Spain and not go within 300 metres of the victim, while he must return to court on a weekly basis to confirm his whereabouts.

The complainant alleges that he was locked in a room after being immobilised, while the accused stole his keys, broke into his apartment and carried out large scale theft, with gunshots also said to be involved to intimidate the individual.

The defender has now been suspended without pay by Villarreal and had previous applications for bail thrown out by the court.

The Portugal international’s run-in with the law made headlines in Spain earlier this year after allegedly carrying a firearm at a nightclub in Valencia in November and smashing a man over the head with a glass bottle in separate incidents.

Semedo joined Villarreal from Sporting CP in the summer for €14m but has played only four league games due to his season being disrupted by injuries.

Seems like a real stand up guy.

Pretty bizarre he only got 5 months for robbery, assault and attempted murder.

Ye O'l footballer free card.
