They're not for the future They're gambles that based on what city have done for the last 10+ years 95% don't pay off but they can shift them and somehow make them profitable Including our own Douglas Luiz... If we buy Rogers for let's say £5m + a load of performance related bonuses and additional fees, he doesn't make the grade and is shipped out on loan within 2 years and sold within 3 years, as long as we recover the £8m or do some fancy FFP trick then who cares, City and Chelsea are doing that with 20 odd players at any one time, all of it fairly quietly so no one says anything about it The point was that where he comes from doesn't matter, man city, the best team in the world right now, are signing players from FK Cukariki... I didn't know a lot about a 22 year old David Platt when we signed him from 4th division Crewe. I also didn't know a lot about a 21 year old Ashley Young who had made 80% of his 98 senior league appearances in the Championship. This chap is 6ft tall, well built, good pace, good skills, and young enough to develop. For £10m he could prove to be an utter bargain, and I’d put a sizeable chunk to bet he’d have a better output than these three clowns mustered last year. Teams are getting points docked for FFP breaches, and we have some here wanting to sign proven quality for 0 pounds and 5p wages. We need to snap up these players before they become unobtainable. We need to be finding these players before they cost us 50/60/70m+. Just look at the talent that has come from the Champ in recent years: Bowen - 20m, Eze - 18m, Olise - 9m, Konsa - 12m, Cash - 14m, Maddison - 25m, Joao Pedro - 34m, Watkins - 28m, Bellingham - 20m, Benrahma - 21m, Scott - 22m. the talent is there, we just need to buy the rough diamonds....and not the duds.....
