The longest home win streak in top European leagues is Ajax 1971-72 with 26 wins. Could we!

That's crazy too that we could do this by the end of the season, and that weve arguably just played the two hardest teams we'd play, on paper.

Assume this is a better place than the CL chase thread for this rather interesting article from the PL site itself:
Write-up about Villa's chances of taking the all time record for home wins in a row

Evidently we share the fourth spot with ManCity right now and we still have ten matches left to win if we want to go all the way:

Quote

4. Man City - 15 matches (19 Jan 2023-4 Nov 2023)
Pep Guardiola's team recorded 23 consecutive victories in all competitions at the Etihad Stadium from the start of this year, one short of Sunderland's English record set in 1892. The record ended with a 1-1 draw with Liverpool that Guardiola blamed on the early kick-off time: "It's 12.30, we were still in the sheets, sleeping."

3. Man Utd - 19 matches (30 Oct 2010-23 Oct 2011)
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were imperious at Old Trafford for almost a year, in a run that included the 8-2 victory over Arsenal and the 2010/11 title. But the end came in shocking fashion at the hands of “noisy neighbours” Man City, who thrashed their closest rivals in a memorable 6-1 win.

2. Man City - 20 matches (5 Mar 2011-31 Mar 2012)
That Man City team who ended Man Utd’s longest winning cycle at Old Trafford in the Premier League were on course to go one further themselves. The match after the beating the record, the run came to end when Sunderland claimed a dramatic 3-3 draw which required a late Aleksandar Kolarov equaliser. That did not stop Roberto Mancini’s team from claiming their first title.

1. Liverpool - 24 matches (9 Feb 2019-11 Jul 2020)

Next 5 PL at VP:

Sheff Utd

Burnley

Newcastle

Man Utd

Forest

Winnable but tricky. That Newcastle one being the hardest if their injury situation has improved and they’ve strengthened in the Jan window (game isn’t until end of Jan due to FA cup and international break).

Our crowd have a key role on Friday. Not actually in the sense of being hyped up but instead being patient and focusing on the game in front of us rather than the league position if we win.

Even after 15 wins on the spin, some will be restless and uptight if we’ve conceded a freak early goal or something and then someone dares to pass back to Martinez.  Although thankfully Emery has been coaching us fans too in a way and hopefully everyone will hold their nerve if we’re not 3 nil up in 20 minutes!

Looking at the positives of last night's draw, at least it wasn't a 'Big 6' team to stop our winning run and crow about us only playing poor teams or some shit.

I actually thing it may have started to become a bit of a monkey on our back, adding unnecessary pressure to continue to win, especially against teams we would be expected to see off (probably what happened last night).

If all's well, hopefully this will just mean we're more determined to start another winning run.

We've now won 26 of our last 33 games at Villa Park, in all competitions.

So 80% of the time that a team comes to Villa, they leave with nothing.

We don't discriminate whether you're top or bottom of the league either. The average league place of those 7 games we didnt win is about 12th.

Actually we do discriminate against european teams, they don't get anything at Villa Park.

That is very impressive. When does the 33 games start?

I wonder what it is since Emery joined Villa?

It's selectively post the Arsenal defeat, but it's still ridiculously impressive.

Especially for a European team coming knowing that the last 6 to come didn't leave with anything.

Teams must be setting up differently now as the odds are stacked against them.
