BOF Posted November 30, 2023 Moderator Posted November 30, 2023 Link to 2023 thread Following on from a historically dominant, and therefore often boring, F1 season where nearly all of the excitement was found down the running order and in the battle for who will be runner-up to Red Bull, we go into a season where things appear remarkably stable. Both from a driver situation and a regulations one. At time of writing, it looks like only Logan Sargeant's seat is up for grabs, and even then it appears he is hot favourite to retain it. We do have 2 token name changes happening. Alfa Romeo have left the sport. Well, their badge has. So that'll either become Sauber or something else until it becomes a works Audi team in 2026. And Red Bull are re-branding AlphaTauri to VISA Cash App RB. LAUNCH DATES 1. Haas - 02/02 (Launch) 2= Stake Sauber - 05/02 (Launch) 2= Williams - 05/02 (Launch) * livery only 4. Alpine - 07/02 (Launch) 5. V-CARB - 08/02 (Launch) 6. Aston Martin - 12/02 (Launch) 7. Ferrari - 13/02 (Launch) 8= Mercedes - 14/02 (Launch) 8= McLaren - 14/02 (Launch) 10. Red Bull - 15/02 (Launch) TEAM CHANGES As mentioned above, Alfa Romeo have left the sport, so the Sauber team will continue to operate under the name Stake. AlphaTauri are set to run under VISA Cash App RB. Finally, Aston Martin will be modifying their name as Cognizant will no longer be a title sponsor. DRIVER CHANGES In what is literally the quietest driver's market in F1 history, all 20 seats will remain unchanged from what finished the 2023 season. I'm not sure this bodes particularly well for the junior formulas but hey ho. It is what it is. Maybe a bumper yield this year for the likes of Formula E, IndyNXT, Super Formula, Endurance sports cars etc. The likes of Liam Lawson, Theo Pourchaire & Frederik Vesti will be looking on with interest. The sprint will then take place as first session on the Saturday, followed by main qualifying, and then the grand prix will remain on the Sunday. DRS will now be activated 1 lap after a restart instead of 2. This includes race start, safety car restart and red flag restart. Finally, the power unit allocation has been increased from 3 units to 4 for the 2024 & 2025 seasons. 1

kurtsimonw Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Just now, Genie said: I’d be happier if every single street circuit were removed. Yeah definitely, but F1 seem intent on street circuits and wanting to push out the great old tracks. I just want some kind of entertainment next year. 1

The Red Bull will be even better. Ferrari, Mercedes and Williams will be playing catchup from day 1. Max will piss every race without even his team-mate putting him under pressure. Circuits which don’t promote racing. DRS which doesn’t encourage racing. As soon as there’s a tiny bit of drizzle the races will be red flagged. Bring it on! 1

AVFCDAN Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Dominance never lasts forever but with nothing at all changing it feels like a 4th title for Max unfortunately. Just hope its not as comfortable.
BOF Posted December 1, 2023 Author Moderator Posted December 1, 2023 Also worth mentioning we've a potential superstar skipping Formula 3 and jumping straight into a Formula 2 seat this season, and into a Prema seat no less. Andrea Kimi Antonelli only turned 17 in August, and this season won both the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (15 races) and the Formula Regional European Championship (20 races), the latter with Prema. In 2022 he also won 2 championships. Italian F4, ADAC F4 and the one-off F4 Cup for good measure. The kid is an absolute winning machine and it'll be interesting, to say the least, to see how he handles this massive jump in class. It's rare you get quite an obvious star as this jumping through the codes and winning titles like cheat codes.
BOF Posted December 1, 2023 Author Moderator Posted December 1, 2023 And there it is. Sargeant confirmed for 2024.

Ah he wasn't that bad, and it takes more than a year to find your feet. Look at Tsunoda. It took him until his 3rd year to look the part.

BOF Posted December 6, 2023 Author Moderator Posted December 6, 2023 Fun fact. Lia Block, 17 year old daughter of Ken Block, will be in the F1 Academy support series (Wiki) this season. Quote The 2024 F1 Academy is a planned motor racing championship that is scheduled to be the second season of the F1 Academy, an all-female Formula 4-level racing series founded and organized under the management of Formula Motorsport Limited.
BOF Posted January 5 Author Moderator Posted January 5 Launch dates starting to come in now. 4 updated on OP.
AVFCDAN Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Steiner has left the Haas team then, but sad to see him go but you can’t blame them for trying something new. In other news I’ve just discovered he’s Italian and not German?!

In other news I’ve just discovered he’s Italian and not German?! He's from South Tyrol, which has only been Italian since the end of the First World War. The land historically was part of Austria, and 'north' Tyrol still is Austrian. It's the least Italian part of Italy, the majority of people living there speak German, it's given a lot of autonomy from the Italian government and it culturally might as well be Austria. It's also caused Italy problems since they've 'owned' it - post war it had a separatist movement which also included some terrorism and lead to a spat between Austria and Italy, between the wars it caused tensions between the Nazis and Italian Fascists (Germany thought they should have it because of the German speaking people, the Italians didn't want to have non-Italians on 'their' land...), and now they basically don't get anything from owning and administering to it because of various treaties trying to sort the mess out. It's an interesting place. 1
Genie Posted January 13 Posted January 13 No more drive to survive. I never watched it so it’s not a miss from me.
BOF Posted January 17 Author Moderator Posted January 17 So AlphaTauri might be ... Visa CashApp Racing Bull this season Bit of a stupid name. Obviously it'll be Racing Bull to fans.
