Either way I still think Adam’s is a much better player than Dendonker but it’s all about opinions.

We know you love Dendoncker as much as I love Davis. We all have that one player.

Is he the kind of player that assists the assister a lot? His (selective) stats that the posts you've quoted seem very good for this kind of player.

Exactly what I was thinking… seems to be an excellent passer of the ball, you have to be to play for those teams… but he seems to excel at it…

It’s something that Unai values and has emphasised and improved in our style… maybe he wants more…

I like the idea of signing a "big name" like Felix or Ferran Torres, but I think the reality of such a signing might well be problematic as both have made it clear that a club like ours is not their first choice of destinations. If we managed to sign either of them would they settle? would they see the Villa environment as 'big enough' for them in the Brummie reality? Would their agents be agitating to get another move to a 'big name' club in eighteen months time?

For me the perfect signing for us would be Brennan Johnson. Villa would be step up for him, not a perceived step down. He is the right age, has the right attitude and exactly the right attributes to become a fixture for the Villa as Emery grows AVFC into a regular top six club. He won't be cheap but I'm sure we can get him if we want him. He'll offer extra goals, assists, and be an assister to the assists (if that makes sense).

I think Unai is best placed to judge mate, through conversations and meetings with these players…

We don’t have any real insight into the attitude, desire or adaptability of any player really…. we just judge from afar without really knowing anything…

As ever, if there’s a player Unai wants/rates/likes and believes will fit in here… then we should be all for it and who knows better than him?

He has so much knowledge and experience and will be able or well placed  to judge how likely a player would be able to fit into our “family group”, settle (will get plenty of help, similarly to Pau and Moreno) and most importantly - make an impact and contribution…

I don't get why the YT vlogger's and pundits are saying Arsenal have had an A+ fantastic window!? Spunking £170m on Rice and Havertiz when there's better players for less money seems to me to be Boehly Chelsea level of throwing money about.

I guess if you ignore the fees and just look at the squad, they've replaced Xhaka with Rice and added Havertz which I'd say is pretty good. Also I think Timber should be a big upgrade on what they had at RB.

How many more signings do you think we’ll make? 0 / 1 / 2 / 3?

I think it depends on outgoings…

It’s so hard to call really, we don’t know what Unai’s plans are… and which players are not in them…

I’m going to go with a maximum of 3. Possibly one more “big signing”, likely toward the end of the window, and 2 to bring in competition and help the squad.

I feel like Havertz premier league history is being rewritten because it’s Arsenal and they spent £75m. He was useless for Chelsea.

I feel like he was more underwhelming than useless but there's definitely a player in there. Still got 32 goals and 15 assists for Chelsea in 3 seasons plus the winner in a CL final. He was meant to be brilliant for Leverkusen before that too (although we have one like that 😅)

I definitely agree with you about Unai knowing best. Monchi is another guy who examines the person as well as the player. I trust them to get it right.

I'm just asking the questions that I have in my head based on (a) watching both Felix (briefly) and Ferran play in the Premier League, and seeing the outcome for both players, and (b) reading their own recent personal comments on where they see their immediate respective future's.

I know many might think me daft, but I would genuinely prefer Brennan Johnson to either Joao Felix or Ferran Torres, in terms of what I would expect them to contribute to our long term future.

It's really about you posting nonsense from twitter in the transfer thread. Accounts with handfuls of followers looking to get attention and you supplying it.

A question I want to ask those who love to spam the forum. Do you even look at the number of followers an account has? Ask why this random nonsense twitter account would have some information and you must bring this to the attention of everyone.

People can post whatever they want in here basically. I can also continue to call out people who post clearly nonsense bullshit

/Rant

I love this rant by you!

I take note of it and will try to do better! Sorry!

It generates discussion, I don't see the difference between this and someone saying 'i like daichi kamada, we should sign him'. Both generate discussion on what we might do in the window, which is what the forum is for. Or do we need tj run everything past you first before we post?

It was the video that fascinated me. It wasn’t as if it was saying a bizarre player named linked, it was a video…just strange.  I do normally check number of followers on link but didn’t this time.  Like you, I did think it worthy of discussion

I have no idea who the person in that Twitter video is, but I've had a bit of fun trying to put a few names to it from still photos (but failed miserably, lol).

It's a well produced "bit of fun" and lightens a day spent in browsing speculation.
