I think you misunderstood mate.

To me that reads as " Aston Villa are amongst the regular visitors from the Premier League " to the club.

Sounds more like we send scouts there regularly,  as well as other PL clubs.

We need one top quality winger for sure and where I'd concentrate most of our effort.  Guendouzi I'd be very happy with in central midfield but suddenly we seem quite well off there.

I'm most intrigued by what Emery does with the youth players if we qualify for Europe.  Hopefully it might accelerate the development of 4 or 5 of them.

Why are we selling Chambers when he appears to be third choice for the double pivot? He is also a good passer for a centre back.

On the right back What are you doing with KKH? If you sign a right back you can't keep Cash and Young.

I'm just making the point, 3 players doesn't go into two and adding a 4th doesn't go into two.

People can suggest what they like but it should make sense.

If you want to send KKH out on loan and want to release Young in the summer that is a legitimate POV.

For what its worth I would go for Liveramento if Southampton go down sending KKH out on loan and releasing Young or just letting him stick around and fill any gaps there may be as he has lots to teach the rest of the players and he probably isn't paid a huge wage.

We have space for 5 or 6 over 21s in our squad without selling anyone. It's safe to say that we will be buying at least 2 or 3 players in the summer who will all be pushing to be in the starting line up.

Question marks over hause and sanson, possibly be sold if the right offer comes in for them. Young I can't see having another season, he may however stay at the club in some capacity. Will we offload phil coutihno ? Digne will he be happy to play 2nd fiddle ? Question marks over bertie and Bailey?  Donker not being picked when kamara is out ?  Olsen ?

There is plenty of scope to buy 3 top quality players and not have too many players.

We have to pay for them, we don't have endless money, especially with new FFP wage rules coming in.

Which is why I listed several players who may not fit into next seasons squad and move on. 2 of them being our biggest earners in phil and digne.

Obviously,  thats how players move clubs.

The amount of money floating around the Premier league from even the poorest clubs is immense, there will always be a west ham or Everton type club who would pay that money.

The oil nations are spunking money on wages, Ronaldo is easily the world's highest paid player there is repeated noise one wants phil.  I can see that happening as after the world Cup they want a few more famous names playing out there.

I think Marcus Thuram on a free transfer is the most sensible signing. Gettable if we are in Europe.

I had a look at the historical transfers at the clubs Emery has been at to see if there are any common themes (data from transfermarkt and excluded his first club which was a complete outlier). He will obviously have worked with a DoF at most of those clubs, but would have definitely still had a strong say in the transfer approach.

A few of the things I noticed for any other stats nerds:

• Over 17 seasons, he has signed 132 players - 30 Free Transfers, 20 Loans, a further 7 Loans which were later made permanent, and 75 signings for cash money straight up. That averages just under 8 players brought in per season.
• His busiest season was 2007 with Almeria, when he brought in 14 players. His busiest transfer window was 2013 with Sevilla, when he brought in 13 players.
• He has never signed less than 5 players in a season, but he has signed exactly 5 players 5 times (including a season split between Spartak (4 in summer) and Sevilla (1 in winter)).
• He rarely signs players in the winter windows - 88% of signings were in the summer. Villa's 2 winter signings match his record number of signings in a winter window.
• 42% of his signings have been from Spanish clubs, 13% French, 12% English, 7% Italian... Less Spanish dominated than I expected.
• He has only signed 6 players for more than 1 club (Diego Alves, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Giovani Lo Celso, Dani Parejo, Denis Suárez, Adil Rami).
• However, he has managed 8 other players for more than 1 club, but only signed them at one of the clubs (Éver Banega, Vicente Iborra, Carlos Bacca, Bruno Saltor, Nicolás Pareja, Álvaro Negredo, Serge Aurier, David Luiz).
• He has also managed 7 other players for more than 1 club, without having signed them for either club (Raúl Albiol, Hedwiges Maduro, Alberto Moreno, Paco Alcácer, Jaume Costa, Emiliano Martínez, Calum Chambers).
• Unsurprisingly, his favourite position to sign is Center Midfield - 32% of his signings have been either AM, CM or DM. Only 10% of the players he signed were listed as wingers (and looking at some of the names, a lot of them are not really wingers either - some I'd class as AMs and support strikers).
• 16% were Forwards (mostly CFs), 32% Defenders (15% CB, 9% RB, 8% LB), 10% Keepers, which all ties in pretty closely to the primary formation he has been using at Villa so far.

My takeaways from this completely not useless exercise are that we will definitely, with 100% certainty, no shadow of a doubt, absolutely, positively:

• Sign 5 players in the summer window if we don't get Europe, and up to 8 if we do.
• At least one of the 5 will be a free transfer and\or loan.
• Two will be classified as Central Midfielders (AM, CM or DM).
• At least two will be from La Liga, and another from England and\or France, with the rest from elsewhere.

If anyone suggests a transfer window that doesn't align strictly to those rules, I will immediately classify your opinion as nonsense.

Would have been tough, he wanted to play immediately. Only reason he left Chelsea.

If he comes back the same player, he'd be a good addition. I wouldn't go after a right back though.

Because he was a top top young player before the injury, I have no evidence to suggest otherwise post injury, just as we have no reason to think otherwise for Carlos.

He's 20...  He'll come back from an ACL injury.  He was flying last season for Southampton and is a good player who will attract a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs if Southampton go down.  I don't think he's a good fit for Emery's system, though.  I still think Wan-Bissaka should be the primary RB target for us this summer because he is the arguably one of the best 1v1 defenders in the Premier League and will be available because he doesn't fit into Erik ten Hag's system.
