Looked like a dodgy incident in quali with max and Lando

Looks like Max has got a slap on the wrist for it and that’s all

I'm going full conspiracy theory and I honestly believe they want him to have the championship wrapped up before the reveal of the budget spend

I've never seen a driver just getting a reprimand for incidents like that.

No punishment on that one is just weird by the way.

All previous incidents of this nature have been a reprimand seemingly, which is what he got here. Lando called it an unfortunate incident but the stewards say drivers must maintain control at all times.

So it's an all-French line-up at Alpine next season as Gasly joins Ocon, and AlphaTauri confirm Nyck De Vries alongside Tsunoda.

Decent move for Gasly that.

Ricciardo has given up on a seat for 2023 as well it seems. Bit of a shame how his career has gone, he'll never get a top drive again.

He'll take a reserve driver role and then slowly move into NASCAR or Formula E

Why does it sound like he blamed Lando for that on the radio?

The explanation for this seems to be that there’s a gentlemen’s arrangement that you don’t overtake going into that corner during quali, which is why max tried to swerve into him.

But the official reason is that max accelerated and lost control rather than deliberately swerved

Because he's a psychopath incapable of accepting any responsibility for his own actions where he's made a mistake?

I don’t want to turn this into yet another max vs Lewis talking point, but Lewis gets so much grief when he blames stuff on his team or other people.

Between that radio message today and Max’s angry rant at his team when he had to ditch his qualifying lap last week, nobody had really said anything. I feel like Lewis would be getting pelters if he’d done that

He’s not good enough for a top drive

I'm not sure quite when it happened, but these cars are now so specialised that they are completely incapable of racing in wet weather, or indeed in any situation that requires them to run at low speeds. In a strange way, the advances to the cars over the last twenty years suggests that a car from the 90's would now be quicker in heavy rain.

There are too many of these days now where we sit and watch the pits for hours. F1 needs to make a choice between being a motorsport that only ever takes place in good weather or one that makes big changes to its approach. I think I know which way that will go - it rarely rains in the desert. I suspect they've already decided anyway.

Having a tractor on the track given the visibility the drivers had is just stupid. Blaming Gasly for going too fast rather than asking why it was there would be awful.

In terms of dumb solutions to the main problems here - would it be possible to have bolt on bodywork for wet days where every team is required to have water guards that bolt onto the main body over the tyres on wet days - sort of like mudguards that prevent the spray, with the FIA declaring it a mudguard day so that no one gets a specific advantage?

It's the spray, not the grip that seems to be the problem - cars are already going on to inters and we're barely in a situation where we can race.
