Results from Israel seem to suggest the Pvizer vaccine is absolutely storming it.

Fingers crossed AZ is going to perform just as well (relative to it's trial results).

Hopefully in the coming weeks we should get our own evidence of what the impact is.

I reckon days. The last 5 days on the death count is really low but it's saying incomplete data at the moment. Once that backfills and if it's not massively increased then it will have fallen off a cliff and it will be evidence of the vaccine making a big difference because there's no way the semi-lockdown alone could have that much of an effect.

Promising, but I'd wait until they open their borders before celebrating.

News at 10 have made a big point of saying captain Toms family are with him, I have a feeling they are trying to get people to read between the lines 😢

I got to be honest if he does pop his clogs I can't say I'll be too fussed. The bloke is 100 years old and had a great innings.

Also if you're 100, you can **** off to Barbados to enjoy the time you have left, after enjoying decades of freedom and prosperity, but if you're a student or young adult  that can only afford a few cans with mates rather than a trip to Barbados, you should live under house arrest without complaint to save old people.

This is a throughly depressing read

Quote

We asked coronavirus experts what summer 2021 will be like

With festivals cancelled, flights grounded and some social distancing likely still in place, this summer will be far from normal. We asked leading epidemiologists what they’re expecting

I think they're all a tad pessimistic.

Sure, we can't affect how other countries are dealing with vaccinations but you'd expect most European countries to be on top of it by the summer.

The gov are secretly planning to have every adult in the UK offered a vaccine by May now. So unless something really bad happens like another variant which existing vaccines don't work against at all, then I think the summer will see mass socialising. It won't be the same 'meet with 1 other family outside only' or 1 systems through pubs with every other seat having tape over it as last summer.

Or if you're a bikini clad influencer you can get paid to got to Dubai to get a load of beach shots, then fly back to the UK, then get paid to jet off to Mexico all in the name of.......well actually I don't know what in the name of.

Where has that come from? I would be amazed if they could do that unless vaccine supply ramped up massively.  They need to start giving out second shots in March, which will presumably have to match the same rate the first shots were going in so capacity to bring new people into the system is going to be small unless they get up to a million shots a day or something.

Easier to link the tweet than the website.

I'll believe it if they manage to deliver 1m vaccines in a day.  I think that's massively optimistic.

If they get to 1m a day you will see why the EU are so upset.

I hope so. We all accepted that 2020 was a write off but 2021 too. Nah, can't face that.
