Had to laugh to note you missed out Alan in Japan and Paul Pants Johnson I looked for an archive as there used to be one but I guess Simon ( @limpid ) finally killed that off John Lerwill took over the archive. I don't know what happened to it since. Don't forget that this was back in the days when you had to think about storage costs.
AvfcRigo82
Don't remember the mailing lists but I remember being on VT from the very early days. I am sure I was avfcandy82 but I lost that name somewhere somehow and I signed up again in around 2006. I this place.

Was he also not in a computer game, championship manager one season for winning a competition iirc?

dont_do_it_doug.
I never did, but I knew of it in the early H&V days. Back before the great purge. When did Heroes kick off? 2001?

mjmooney Posted July 9, 2019 Author VT Supporter Share Posted July 9, 2019 When did it start? My memory is that I joined in about 1994. Can't remember how many members there were at that point, but for me living in Leeds, it was a real Villa lifeline - and - indirectly - got me attending matches again, after about a decade away. Villan4Life
I was on the official forum on Villa's website. Was anyone else on that?
mjmooney Posted July 9, 2019 Author VT Supporter Share Posted July 9, 2019 Could do with a timeline for when all these channels began (and in some cases, ended). The mailing list Christian Jahnsen's website (what was it called?) Villa official site Heroes and Villans VillaTalk etc.

I remember being on holiday one summer when we seemed to be on the verge of Distin (2005 maybe) and was logging onto that as there was some ITK who was claiming he'd had a medical. Only time I looked at the forums on there. Teamtalk was another one I used at the time.

It sat there for a few years until I moved it to Mailman running on my own servers. VillaTalk was registered in April 2002. I hosted it on my own servers (originally for Bozzy and JC) running Postnuke as the CMS. It moved around a few servers until I ported to a hosted IP.Board in September 2012. Popular Post abdulaziz1
I didn't know all of that by then, actually even Premier League wasn't showing live in the 90's in our region apart from couple of games from what I know. I don't remember how I was led to VT actually, its probably by me trying to find a forum of Villa. I started reading for a while then decided to join. We had a small thread in a big Arabic football forum, that thread was for Arab Villa fans, which were counted by the two hands. Now most of us are in a whatsapp group, and atleast 15 of us are passion about Villa. We have several nationalties from Arab countries: (Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and Algeria), we used to have couple of Syrians before the problems, also one from Lebanon. I'm really glad to be here in VT for a long time actually, it made me feel like I'm living between Villans. Even these thread about history of the fans themselves could give us an idea about how things were between the fans by then. What I'm also proud about is that most of who post here have great sense and nice discussion which one can't find at twitter or whatever. I know that when we start discussing something inn our group and I say that most of fans think that way (depending on what analyze from here) while it's different for people who only read twitter. I know I got out of topic, but that was our experience actually which lasted for a while. I'd say the thread use to be since 13 or 14 years.
