E3 2017

Not really much of interest from the Bethesda conference. Most (all?) of it was already shown/leaked anyway I think. The stand alone Dishonoured 2 expansion and Evil Within 2 probably the stand outs if you're a fan, plus the VR stuff if you're into that I guess. I'm none of those things, though.

£450 in the UK. Too much still.

Anyone buying that console on release is nuts.

I'll still buy it probably.

I buy a £500-700 phone every couple of years and think nothing of it. One X will last for much longer so the price doesn't really put me off.

As someone who generally plays multiplats and has friends in the Xbox world, it's a bit of a no brainer.

its the same with the PS4 pro for me, i already own a PS and an xbone, if i was to look to trade in my existing console id still be looking at £300+ to buy a shinier version, it simply doesnt make sense to me right now

and the last wolfenstein was very good, its not a £40-50 game for me though, i'll pick it up when it drops to around £25

Glad I didn't stay up for that

Nothing there that warranted Bethesda having their own show at all. As much as I welcome new switch games I don't think a stripped down version of a 6 year old RPG that everyone has traversed twice now is what the system really needs.

While cool, new wolfenstein and evil within games are hardly show off worthy news events.

Maybe I'm just being grouchy but I feel as this has been such a crap e3 so far that people are amping up very average things to try to sound excited.

Hope Sony and Nintendo can rescue this e3.

I dunno... It's not going to sell particularly well at that price, and the headline facts about it boil down to 'it's really powerful, it plays the same games as your PS4, but at 4k'. Obviously it's slightly more complicated than that, but on the shop floor that's going to be the bottom line.

It's a nailed on price drop within a few months.

They really, really needed to show something more impressive than they did. Hell, they needed new exclusive headline grabbing IP full stop. But their first party devs are slim on the ground and all churning the same shit we've seen before.

There was literally nothing there that sold one for me. At all.

The oddest thing about the MS conference i guess is the release date. Here's our new console available on november 7th, Now look at the most shiny game we have forza 7, Available a month before on October 3rd so you will have already played/finished it before you get the chance to see how good it looks....

After some 2018 games & some ID games here's then next bext looking thing, Middle Earth shadow of mordor which you can buy on october 10th, again a month before you can get the most out of it.

Now middle earth being multi platform i can perhaps understand not having so much control of the date but if you are making it such a large part of the show then why not come to some agreement with the devs to delay it a month.

As for Forza there is no excuse, should be a launch day title.

Bethesda put on one of the worst conferences in E3's recent history.. I mean what even was that?

They spent almost all of the show focusing on shit that had already come out. Yes Fallout 4 VR looks cool, but why did it take 25 minutes to start showing off literal new stuff?

Also why were both The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2 given absurdly long trailers with only 40 seconds of gameplay at the end? These games are out in 4 months.. Show more.

This was a conference by a publisher/developer that had nothing to show, but did one anyway. I feel for anyone that was in the live audience last night..

Wait until the ubisoft conference, At least Bethesda had some new stuff.

Ubisoft have :

Assassin's Creed - Already shown in MS show

South Park - Shown extensively at last years E3, only here again due to game being massively delayed

Farcry 5 - Well they released a bunch of images & teaser trailers themselves only a week ago... guess we might see some ingame but it's farcry, you know what to expect.

The Crew 2 - See farcry, already announced by themselves less than a month ago....

Rayman & Steep for Nintendo Switch? Both games that have been out some time on other formats

A new splinter cell could save them i guess

I can't imagine the bean counters would look at the cost of Bethesda turning up this year and thinking they spent the money well. The whole thing was what, 40mins long, and you could have trimmed that down.

I don't see Doom VR being a great success, and Fallout VR wont be either unless they've fixed the movement problem. Which they won't have.

Thankfully they finished with something very good, if not showing much.

Ubisoft tonight. Not many surprises expected there. And Sony. Who've 'won' E3 without doing anything.

@LakotaDakota While UbiSoft won't be much for surprises sometimes that's not required. I watch the conferences to see the quality of lineup first hand, the surprises are typically just a bonus.

My main issue is Bethesda didn't really show much of anything aside from two overly-long trailers at the end for two great games. UbiSoft with that lineup will have a solid show and sometimes that's enough. Go in expecting nothing and you'll leave impressed. This is UbiSoft the studio that has ended like 3 of the last 4 conferences with a surprise new IP, or surprise game reveal. On paper yes UbiSoft looks unexciting, but at least we know what to expect. I'd prefer that than having 40 minutes of time wasting..

I dunno maybe the Bethesda one was good. I think I watch E3 with industry eyes these days rather than consumer eyes. Maybe next year I'll take my finger off the pulse of the industry a bit, watch E3 as a fan for the first time in over a decade.

I'll give Ubisoft this. Their conferences always make you laugh. Usually at it, rather than with it, but still.

They've wheeled out Miyamoto. With a weird gun thing. For that Mario x Rabbids thing.
