Ukraine produces enormous quantities of grain and it used to be shipped around the world from the Black Sea ports.

Now that shipping lane has been cut a huge amount of grain is going cheap and has to go west by land to be sold.

Essentially Ukrainian farmers are dumping their stock in Poland and other Central European countries, massively undercutting the local industry there.

Poland have tried to get them to stop and it seems like this is one way of applying pressure.

Polish PM has already backtracked, claiming he was misunderstood

Probably told he won't be buying any of those nice shiny top of the range weapons he was talking about buying unless he keeps supplying Ukraine.

The only reason he is still alive is because they are worried about what could come after him.

NATO countries aren't going to assassinate Putin. If he's going to get shot it would be from inside Russia and there's nobody there with the power to pull it off. Putin has systematically changed the power structures to ensure he's unchallenged.

Putin has the country so much under his control that I would not expect anything usefull at all to come out of Russia.

I wonder if reclaiming Crimea might start the dominoes falling for Putin back in Russia? It’ll be a big hit to his ego. I can see why Ukraine are targeting it.

It won't be just a hit to his ego.  Cut off Crimea and Zaporizhizia (interesting news coming out of there too) and the Russian military machine in Ukraine will begin to halt.

This war has been a strategic disaster for the Russian Navy.

Their 3 main navy bases in Europe are -

St Petersburg.  Now only accessible by navigating a narrow approach that now has a NATO country on both sides.  Anything getting through that channel faces the Baltic Sea surrounded by NATO on all sides before trying to escape into the North Sea via the narrow passages through the Danish islands.

Sevastopol.   Boom.

Murmansk.  The home of the northern fleet this base is supplied by 1 railway and 1 road that are just over the Finnish border.  The rail line and road pass through hundred of miles of thick forests, lakes and mountains.  Its perfect terrain for the Finns.  Supply by sea  is severely limited in the winter due to ice. After the Ukraine war the entire border will need to be fortified by Russia.
