He makes himself out out to be at a team with the lowest budget in the championship and that you should feel sorry for him. Yes his net spend is low but other clubs didn't have players like Ayew, Amavi, Westwood, Gestede etc to get them fees in to the club of nearly £30m+. I grant him that the summer was tough and he did fairly well. Fairly well not really well. Terry was inspired, Snodgrass very good. The rest, well they were ok. There was probably better available for the same price/loan fee. End of the day he has probably the best or 2nd best squad. He has one of the best keepers in the league, the best defender last year, a world class defender in his day, PL regulars, one of the best midfielders last year, two of the best wingers in the league (one of which is easily PL level) and let's not forget £40m worth of strikers. That's not without even mentioning probably some of the better younger players in the league in players such as Grealish, O'Hare and Davis. I will always give him credit when it is due but he talks a lot of shit and reminds me very much of Sherwood in how he spins interviews. He never talks about how good his players are, what talent he has at his disposal. He is very downtrodden and plays down the talent he has. I get why he does it. Beg, steal and borrow isn't really a phrase used other than to make out you haven't got any money. Also the mention of mates with the implication that our situation requires favours. John Terry is probably the biggest signing ever made in this league and yet he uses phrases like the above to describe a summer transfer window in which he signed him..
