Make him an offer he can't refuse and if that doesn't work kidnap his agent and make him watch Villa re-runs until the window shuts

Oof.. That is a punishment likely worse than death, you monster! Haha.

Has the booing been verified? Not saying I don't believe as its wholly believable given what we've witnessed lately.

A little at half time. But a minority of idiots who were on the backs of the players from kick off. Second instance of booing was aimed at the ref I think when Ayew was bought down and the ref gave a corner.

Stage one of Roberto Di Matteo’s hectic day in claret and blue eventually went to plan, but only just!

The Villa boss watched his side leave it late to see off Telford at the New Bucks Head before dashing off to watch the rest of his squad take on Worcester City.

Di Matteo’s busy day doesn’t end there, though. Tonight he flies out to China for a press call with owner Tony Xia and he’ll have plenty to mull over after this particular performance.

Villa fell behind to a wonder goal from David Hibbert in the seventh minute and their struggles continued long into this pre-season friendly.

It was only when Jordan Ayew equalised in the 81st-minute that Villa really came to life. Aly Cissokho spare their blushes with a last-gasp winner.

This encounter was all about fitness and getting the claret and blues equipped for tougher tests that lie ahead.

But the way Telford appraoched the game took the visitors by surpise and they found themselves ahead early on.

Scott Sinclair lost possession and Hibbert pounced before smashing a 25-yard strike past Pierluigi Gollini.

It was the hosts only notable effort on goal but one that almost look like giving them a memorable victory

Slowly but surely Villa grew into the game although there was a distinct lack of creativity.

Idrissa Gana was wasteful in possession while Ashley Westwood struggled to find a killer pass.

In front of goal the visitors also spurned chances, twice through Rudy Gestede in the first half.

Sinclair was denied by the post with a snapshot from close range and after the break, Telford goalkeeper James Montgomery excelled to keep Villa at bay.

A stunning save from the man-of-the-match thwarted Sinclair before other chances were begging.

But Villa’s fitness levels eventually helped them over the line.

Young Andre Green was given a start on the left and he looked decent throughout.

He had the beating of the backline every time he was in possession and his persistence paid in the end.

Threading a clever bass into Ayew, Green fed the Ghanaian and he did the rest.

After stepping inside to create room for himself in the box, Ayew coolly slotted past Montgomery to level up the scores with nine minutes remaining.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy came on to give Villa a spark up top and with his first involvement he saw a shot crash off the post.

Villa didn’t give in though and they eventually got the winner that their possession statistics warranted.

Ayew was again involved, this time turning provider for Cissokho.

His cross to the back post was inch-perfect and the Frenchman planted his header into the net to keep up the 100 per-cent wining record in pre-season.

Team: (4-2-3-1) Gollini, Suliman, Elphick (Mason, 86) Baker, Cissokho, Gana, Westwood, Ayew, Sinclair, Green, Gestede (Hepburn-Murphy, 76). Subs: Johannson, McKirdy, Cowans.

Match report re game 1.

Game 2 against Worcester has been delayed for 15 minutes as the Villa team haven't turned up yet (cue jokes about not turning up for the 90 minutes as usual....)

Pre-season so far.. 2 matches played, 2 wins. 10 goals for and 1 goal against.

I understand that pre-season is not about results, but fitness and that one game was against basically a Sunday League team but all things considered not a bad start.

#AVFC team v @WorcesterCityFC: Bunn, Hutton, Toner, Okore, Bennett, Gardner, Tshibola, Veretout, Grealish, Agbonlahor, Kozak.

Hmmm - not sure on the formation - maybe another 4-2-3-1?

.................Bunn

Hutton.Okore.Toner.Bennett

.....Gardner.Tshibola

Gabby..Veretout...Grealish

..............Kozak

Interesting there's no Lescott, Richards, Bacuna or Sanchez in the starting line-up (although Sanchez is probably still holidaying after the Copa America)

And 12 divisions between the 2 ;)

Richards went off with an injury in the GAK match so he's likely not fit to be selected. We need to be told what subs we have for this game though to know where Lescott is.. Also Petrov is missing.
