With Praet looking a real possibility, and Gil looking like hes staking a real claim in Portugal, we would seem to have a very strong midfield with good depth.

Delph
Gueye
Grealish
Sinclair
Gil
NZogbia
Westwood
Sanchez
Gardner
Cole

Some of these might be sold or loanec, but its gonna be hard to keep them all happy...

Good problem to have i guess

Praet

In fact if we play wing backs it might be

----Richards-------CB-------------CB

Bacuna-------------------------------Amavi

-------Gueye----Praet------Delph

----------Benteke-------A N Other

Which is a strong looking side

I think it is will more likely

4-3-3 (4-3-2-1)

----------------Guzan--------------

Richards--Okore--Clark--Amavi

--------------Westwood----------  (or Sanchez)

------Gueye------------Delph----

--------Gill---------Grealish----

------------Benteke--------- Or (new striker if Benteke sold)

or.. Swap Westwood for Praet so Gueye is drop deep. (or Praet replace Gill)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5-3-2 (sherwood plan this season)

----------------Guzan-----------------

-----Okore---Richards---Clark----

Baunca--------------------------------Amavi

-----------Gueye-----------Delph------

---------------------Praet---------------- (or Grealish)

-------------Benteke-------Gabby------ (or 2 new striker if Benteke sold)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midfield it is more plenty cover, it is good business.

(centre midfield)

Mason

Gueye

Delph

Gardner

Sanchez

Westwood

(attacker midfield)

Praet

Grealish

Gill

Coles

Sinchair

Delph                                          Gueye

Westwood                                  Sanchez

                           Praet

                          Gardner?

Grealish                                New signing

Gil                                          Sinclair/N'zogbia

How I see it really. We will need depth playing 3 in there plus attacking options.

Have I missed something..did we announce Praet? Theres no rumours on twitter even!

Just getting a bit carried away but his name has been linked for a few weeks like Amavi has.

A key thing to remember here is we need far more goals from midfield with Benteke probably leaving. Our midfield hardly contributes any goals throughout the season so I still think we need to sign one more, an attacking player who can get in the box on a regular basis.

Praet could be that player.

The link between defence and attack is my concern.  Under Lambert players seemed uncomfortable with what exactly their roles were, or did know but were smart enough to realise it wouldn't work.  Cognitive dissonance, and all that.  Sherwood (and pals) appear to be working far more to the idea of a system from which we pick the best players in our squad.  This is good.  But so far I still see a big problem regarding how we build attacks from the back, and essentially our flexibility when switching from defence to attack, and vice versa.

This to me is the essential quandary of the high tempo modern game.

We're fairly strong but pretty narrow here. Our best attacking players are Grealish and Gil, but both are better off central as neither are that pacey and are creative types. I trust Sinclair on the wing and I think that Bacuna can do a job there too but other than that, not convinced.

Really have no how Sherwood will have us lined up next season.
