  1. Our form was already poor before his injury, and so were his performances. And sure, he was probably our best midfielder at the time, of course we missed him. That however says a lot more about our squad back then than it does about him I do agree he was good at the beginning of 20/21
  2. See I don't even agree he was key in our first season back in the prem. He started well, got a few goals, but his form started dipping around October, then he got injured, came back for project restart and wasn't fit, being bang average as a result. He was only good for a couple of months.
  3. Gerrard doesn't want to know that. Not yet. I hope he proves me wrong and makes it work, because hey, who wouldn't want the best version of Coutinho playing for you? But I don't see it happening, and I think that when (if) he will eventually drop Coutinho it will already be curtains for him, and it will be one of the very last cards he'll play. I really hope this post makes me look stupid in the future. I'd love that!!!
  4. Another player who is great some of the time, but when he isn't you hardly notice he's actually on the pitch. Coutinho being another one. McGinn you do notice, but he's just as ineffective for most of the time. We will never progress if we have to carry a minimum of three players, waiting for them to switch on. I don't want to be harsh on the lad as he's young and has massive potential, but as any other players he's got to earn his plays and (non) displays like today just don't do that.
  5. "Gerrard" actually has all the letters you need to spell "Garde". Just sayin '
  6. Leeds at home, Southampton. That's about it.

If the right offer comes I'd be ok with moving him on, he would still be my second choice at right back should anything happen to Cash, assuming that Guilbert is as good as gone, and not having seen virtually anything of Kayne other than highlight reels.
  8. I would be curious to try a 4-2-3-1 with Luiz and Kamara holding behind Coutinho, Buendia and Bailey. Probably not against top opposition, where a 3 would be more solid, but certainly against bottom table opposition.
  9. We're not fickle, we just don't rate him

Does him starting today suggest that Gerrard sees him as the first candidate to partner Carlos? I'm unconvinced by him, he's one of a few who seemed to play much better in empty stadiums. Based on last season he would probably be 4th choice for me, not only due to his drop on performances, but because of how limited he is on the ball.
  11. Gabby probably also doesn't top the IQ charts
  12. I have never been pro Gerrard, I like the calibre of players he attracts, and I would say that is by far his greatest quality, and that's an issue. I'm still on a fence which is starting to tilt more and more towards one side
  13. I wouldn't say he's getting much backlash, Gerrard is. It's not McGinn who appointed himself captain. That said, my perception is that most people like McGinn. They don't like the amount of game time he gets regardless of performance levels. Most of people are happy to have him as a squad player, but don't rate him highly enough to take us into the top 8.
  14. We copy good ideas and stay away from poor ones, regardless of their origin
  15. I know, and I suspect that will be his downfall, sooner or later. Time will tell, I want him to do well because if he does well then so do we, but I'm gradually losing faith
  16. Says who? Leaders will lead, on and off the pitch. Henderson isn't a guaranteed starter for Liverpool and that doesn't stop him from being captain.
  17. And probably not in my personal best 11 either, it would probably be Carlos and one of him and Chambers. But he's done nothing wrong (as far as we know) and i see no reason to strip him of the captaincy.
  18. There should be no guaranteed starters, that's the point of having a squad.
  19. And keep one of Bailey or Buendia out to accommodate him? I shudder at the thought
  20. I'm also happy for him. I'm a lot less happy for us
  21. To me McGinn is a bang average player in who gets a lot of unnecessary game time, but there you go
  22. I suppose it might work if you have Luiz and Kamara holding it might work, but we might still be a bit weaker on the flanks. Could work against weaker, hard to break down opposition though
  23. Hopefully Neil Critchley will spot this and have enough of a say to implement change. As far as I'm concerned Buendia is our best player, and yet he doesn't start. Weird

  25. To be fair if we play a 3 in midfield he's starting in one of the two 8 positions, with Ramsey getting the nod over McGinn for the other one. And if we play a 2 he's also probably the most suited to start alongside Kamara.
