  1. We should be trying to stay injury free and blood a couple youngsters. Don't care much about the result. Won our last 2 under Dean which helped zero going into next season.
  2. Really just want Burnley to drop. Can't stand them turning every game into a snore fest.
  3. I can't deny the results this season. I just hate he only delivers a watchable performance once every 4 matches. Hopefully he can install the high press this off-season and we kick on.
  4. Laughed every time the long ball wasn't on and he would just freeze. It's to the point if he can't go on a driving run or send a ball down the channel he just doesn't do anything. Slows down our play over and over again. Love his character and tenacity but he definitely needs competition next season.
  5. If that's not an ACL tear then we can count ourselves lucky. Get well soon Ezri!
  6. Half chance at best. Ball was slow and Ollie had to literally wait for it to catch up to him. People are in here acting like it was a 1v1 versus the keeper.
  7. World class strikers convert less than 1 in 5 chances. Can't call him sh*t when we spend 80+ minutes generating f*ck all for him.
  8. Perfect time in the season to change it up at half. Try something different.
  9. You're a knowledgeable poster. 9 out 10 I read what you post and I knod my head in agreement. Tammy during our promotion campaign was immense. Outside of Jack, he was second in securing our PL place. I just don't think he can deliver what Steven is looking for in a striker. Agree to disagree on this one. UTV.
  10. Tammy seems to only get goals when he plays for a dominant team in the league. If he went to a mid table club, he would probably get exposed as pretty average. Also, Steven is trying to build a high pressing side. Tammy is not giving you the necessary running for 90 minutes a game. Unless he is coming on the cheap, and cool with not starting then I'm going to pass.
  11. Didn't the PL do away with partial ownership after the West Ham debacle.
  12. Worked because it was Burnley. Quicker, more aggressive midfields would have run circles around Chambers.
  13. He has more than earned the right to have a full preseason with his influence. My only issue with Steven is that he is just boring. To go from someone like Deano, with the passion, immense ties to the city and club to Steven who comes off like a cardboard cutout of a manager is just so....blah. Last year we put 7 past the champions. Had the second highest xG ever in a PL match. My excitement for Villa had even eclipsed the O'Neil years. As of now I worry Purslow has missed the mark with bringing in Steven. Dean had run it's course but he had established a brand of play that I hoped would continue with the next appointment.
  14. Glad we won. Another snoozer though. Really hope this is building to something more entertaining next season.
  15. He bores me. Don't need my football to have the same excitement as reading a work email. It all feels very Brucian. If you are going to play this style of football you better win or people are going to grow tired very quickly.
  16. Every squad outside the Top 6 is unbalanced. Just get it done Steven no more excuses.
  17. Any high pressing, high tempo setup needs some time to be implemented. That's pretty difficult to do in the middle of the season. So a proper preseason is critical. Steven didn't get that which makes it hard to judge him fairly on our play so far. My issue, as many have stated on here, is the inflexibility. He seems incapable of playing any other setup. Liverpool use it well and Rangers also found success in the SPL. We are a mid-table PL side though. Don't forget Liverpool struggled defensively until they went out and bought arguably #1 CB and GK in world football. This setup requires massive quality at key positions. At Rangers, Steven had that. He is not going to get that level of quality here and that's where I begin to worry. What happens if this system continues to not deliver next season. Does he just persist until he is fired. This season he needs to show that he has a plan "B", otherwise giving him a large budget this summer is a massive, massive gamble.
  18. New regulations taking over for FFP all but ensure that even if we get into Europe our squad will be picked clean soon after. The revenue of the Top 6 clubs is so far past us they can spend 2-3x as much each year. Barring a massive Grealish like sell every 3 years I don't see how we can compete. The drawbridge is all but up at this point.
  19. USA v England will be a bore 1-0. Not sure to who but bet the total goal under and enjoy your winnings.
  20. Seriously. While he's there maybe he can get a couple pointers from Klopp as well.

    Chelsea

Yeah I figure we are worth around the same value 300-400 million. Are we even in the same league as Chelsea?

    Chelsea

Chelsea going for 3 billion+ really show you where we stand in the PL. That's an insane price.
  23. Not at the level like the PL. Patrick Verria left MLS and did 2 years at Ligue 1. A league like that should have been Steven's next stop. He's made a huge leap. We have no choice but to go through these growing pains with him.
  24. Agree. 90 minutes of McGinn ain't it. Let him run himself ragged and then get someone else on. Eventually we find someone who can bring his high energy levels and technical ability.
  25. He's not a rookie manager but you can tell he is new to the game. Arteta went through these same growing pains and Arsenal stuck with. Unless we are going to bin him in the summer we have to give him time. Took him 3 years to get Rangers firing so not sure why we would expect anything quicker in a far tougher league.
