  1. So there's a few people on my facebook feed that posts images now and then, and the images are of the HDR-type, highly saturated, extremely contrasty, so sharp that the image has more chromatic aberrations then details, sometimes with lessened clarity in parts (to add mystique or whatever), and in general they look pretty much as far from realistic that you can possibly get without adding unicorns and stuff. The images are also very often not interesting or good at all, and it's pretty clear that these people would not be able to take a good photograph in a regular setting with limited editing and that each photo needs a lots of work just to appear interesting. And that's fine... I've been through that phase when I got my first digital camera like 8 years ago. It's part of exploring different styles, learning techniques and finding out what you like, and after a while, when your eyes are bleeding from the sharpness and clipped out brightness, you make your way back to a more classical look, but in the process you've learned some things. What pissed me off is that people eat that shit up... They absolutely love the images. It's like they have never seen any thing like it (OMG it's so beatiful!!!) when there's millions upon millions of them everywhere, and it's been like that for many years. And it's not an expression of creativity, it's an expression of something like I don't know what I'm doing so I'm using a technqiue that I found youtube that had 1 million views.

    Drones

There has been some changes in the law in Norway this year. Most of my footage from last year would be breaking the rules this year. Fortunately I know the leader of the air traffic control tower in the town I live in, and he was kind enough to give me a heads up when he saw some of it. Basically I can't fly within a 5 km radius of the airport (which includes the whole town center), but he said if I just call ahead and ask for permission it should be no problem most of the time. What bothers me more is that I have to stay at least 150 meters away from people, cars and buildings. If I want to do make money of it things get a lot more complicated. It does makes sense of course to have strict rules for safety, but that 150 meter rule is very limiting in terms of what type of shots you can record. Also, I can't help but wonder what will happen with all the Lilly type drones and that type of flying. I'm guessing a large percentage of drone owners that use it recreationally will be breaking the law. But how will it be enforced? I have a suspicion that you'll be fine as long as you are not involved in any accidents or post videos of your crimes.
  3. Bloodline is pretty good. I'm 3 episodes in. Can feel a binge session coming on!
  4. Spartacus, from the little I saw, was fantasy/fable with dream like scenes. Maybe there's differences between the various season, I don't know. The thing looked like it was almost all CGI to me. Vikings is gritty and natural, and though they believe in and live with myths and rituals, it leaves a much more realistic impression. It's fast-paced compared to GoT, but not fast-paced in terms of modern tv-shows. GoT has many characters, while Vikings mostly is just one small family in a small village. Without trying to spoil it the main character befriends a christian and while they have widely separate beliefs, they influence each other, and the unspoken theme is very much the force of his ambition battling it out with his somewhat divided faith.. although he's a very manipulative so you never quite know what's going on in his head.

    Science Thread

It can safely hold super heated plasma clouds at 100 million degrees because magnets are cool no matter how hot it gets. But they haven't settled for regular cool magnets, those are super cooled magnets. Science, bitch!
  6. I think we're due a bit of luck now. The look on his face as half time was called... it was the look of man who feels he has done everything he can, but it's still not enough.
  7. 3 match ban for Ayew.. or is there any chance it will be extended? That was as bad as it get's for me.

    Gym Routine

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Especially if you are just starting out and still getting to grasps with the technique and getting your form right. Better to not take any risk with weights and get injured or tweak something. The most important thing is that your exercises keep challenging your muscles as you progress and that you eat well enough so that it isn't wasted. I think it's pretty much agreed upon that low reps with heavy weight builds strength and volume more quickly. More reps with less weights also builds strength, but gradually, and also increases endurance. Although is not as straight forward, I guess you can say: Heavy weights=big. Many reps=lean. Doing many reps might burn muscle as well, but is probably more effective for losing fat. 10 reps is not that many though. For the bench, deadlifts and squats I like to start at 8 and work my way down to 5, but for most others exercises I do way more reps. I always workout alone and for a long time I did 65-60-50kg sets with 8 reps and never went above that. When I finally had someone to spot me I was surprised that I was able to do 100kg on first attempt... so in the end I don't think it matters that much if it's about getting and looking healthy.
  9. I stopped playing this before Christmas. I really like the first few weeks when you don't know what works and you have to pay attention to details to figure out the tactics. I'll probably start over again if a new patch comes out or enough time has passed so that I've forgotten all the tricks As for bargains, the best ones are the ones you find yourself I can't speak for the current researchers and the setup these days but I remember when I was involved with the data for Norway many years ago the players without clubs were sometimes overlooked in the database. The way it was set up was that researchers supplied info on their clubs and the staff and players there, while the head researcher(s) collected and checked the data, so I imagine a few players without clubs don't have their data altered at all. I remember I found quite a few 'ghosts' in the DB.
  10. The writer of the article says it's because they are very cheap to buy and the video makers in most cases have little interest in what happens. He also states that Boll applies for many at a time, just to have one ready whenever he needs it. I don't know if it's true or not. Seems plausible, I guess.
  11. I looked up the director on imdb.. He has an icredible resume of very badly rated movies and a couple of ok ones. His first one has a 1.5. You'd think someone would put a stop to it, or he'd run out of money. Then I found this ...like the guys in The Producers. Link to article
  12. I was getting lot's of crashes, freezes and such with firefox yesterday (chrome was working great) I got it sorted by going to add-ons, clicking options on the Shockwave Flash plugin and then unchecking "Enable Adobe Flash Protected Mode"
  13. I've tried to explain this to people before, but always gotten weird looks. I thought I was alone in this. There's a Seinfeld episode where George buys a cream from China to cure his baldness, and Kramer makes a before and after clip of his head with his newfound camera. Everytime I see the scene where he inspects George's head I get the greatest sensation running though me. So freaking random!! I also get it when I hear the noise of people using scissors or similar.
  14. I don't know why but the sound from that video gives me the good kind of shivers and tingles... won't put me to sleep though.
  15. That one sticks out in my mind as well, I think it was one of the first episodes and possibly the first one I saw. She was incredibly sexy in The Fall. I'm not usually attracted to older woman, but damn!
  16. The X-files restart was bad. Poor script, poor acting and suffering from what many other american shows do where they try to cram as much story progression and twists into a single episode that they don't actually give you the time to care or get immersed and in turn every serious scene feels fake. I also got the feeling that they where tryharding a bit much to stay relevant with references to real world conspiracy theories and events. It was just one after the other with no real weight behind it. 2nd episode was a bit better, probably because it was just one isolated case with little "mythology" in it. I can't really remember the old show.. I just know that I liked it.

    Gym Routine

I've done a bit of yin yoga, where you stretch and breathe slow and heavy to deepen the stretch for like 3-7 min for each position. Every now and then when I exercise I do one or two like that, and occasionally I do a full hour session. It's not for everyone but I think it's something everyone should try at least once. The effect for me was incredible, but I'm very tall and not so young anymore so that might be why I had such a benefit from it.
  18. My brother gave my a beer brewing set and ingredients for a brew for Christmas. Currently having the first few sips of beer from it. Tastes exactly like an Indian Pale Ale should taste like, so that's a success in my book. Not bad for a first try, definitely encouraged to try brew more. Strong flavor, but not bad at all. I have about 8 liters of it!
  19. @villa4europe spoiler boxes are not showing correctly, maybe just edit away the quotes
  20. Yeah at the time I was midway through, but I finished it today. This story got to me quite a bit. I'm walking around mad, yelling at the wall and stuff.
  21. Yeah, so much so I couldn't tell for sure it was him.. a silly drunkard version of the lawyer maybe. That guy is harmless though however much he talks the talk, while the lawyer has psychopathic tendencies and is in a position to ruin lives.
  22. Who is that? It's not the lawyer right? I don't get it. Is this another Thom Yorke moment?
  23. Spartacus didn't stick. Watching Making A Murderer. What an awful story, it's making my blood boil. That lawyer representing Brendan makes me skin crawl.
