  1. Hah, cheers! Yes, he is rated as a National League player, but managed to become top goal scorer and get picked in team of the year in League One. I recon i will model his replacement after him. I found a bloke called Lys Mousset who has very similar attributes, only a bit better all over. Just need to teach him the same PPMs... run with ball often and shoots with power. He has the dreaded 'Shoots from distance' though.. but with 15 long shot... Could it work? Ricky Miller doesn't really shoot from long range, but when he does he always scores
  2. Came back from Copenhagen to find this in the mail, thanks @Midfielder!! A bit big, but not enough that it's a bother. Smells like it's had a bath in concentrated washing powder... just touching it and the smell follows me for a day. Guess it could be worse! I'm sure I'll find my way back, but I'm cheating on FGR a bit. I've got an affair going on with Dover and Ricky Miller. He's rated very low, but just keeps on scoring. And a lot of belters! Curious to see how he'll cope in the championship.
  3. Going very well so far. Have had some shocking losses to the worst sides in the league, but beating most other teams. Have decided to only use very simple and realistic formations and I've gone with the 442 posted earlier. Definitely missing an edge with the tactic and conceding almost 1.5 goals pr game, but Ricky Miller is making up the difference. What a striker!
  4. I had recently started a Milan-save
  5. Started a new game with Dover. Sorry @Midfielder! Looks like Forest Green is the strongest team in the league this year. Had my portion of luck in the first league match. Ricky Miller looks really good for this level
  6. Hah, lovely! That was one of the things I brought up months ago as a potential stick to beat the game with.. the whole manager appearance is just bad and feels like 10 years ago. The body shape in not like any human I've seen and the clothes are so damn weird looking. Some how I turned out okay.
  7. I started Breakfast at Tiffanys afterwards. Lasted about 30 min.. what a piece of poo.
  8. Watched 50/50 tonight (netflix) One of those movies that I missed when I was out traveling. Maybe not the best movie ever made, it was real to me.. Sometimes you happen to watch movies at just the right time in your life and by the end of it you feel like something inside of you has shifted a bit and life is somehow slightly different.
  9. 1. Florø, Norway 2. Just my local club. Watch the odd game and bring my camera. Not really that interested in Norwegian football outside of that. 3.Yeah as I said in the FM-thread I started supporting Villa because of Dean Saunders. I was a budding striker myself around the age of 5-6 and wanted to have curls and be as good as him... followed him from Derby, Liverpool and by the time he came to Villa I was around the age where the team started to matter as well. Good timing that Villa had it's best season in my lifetime that year and beat Liverpool 4-1. I was 10 and I think it was the year after that I started playing CM, which made the connection much more solid. Back then Norwegian TV aired one game each week, the usual suspects, and the odd highlights. I very rarely got to see Villa, unless they played the likes of Liverpool. I've never been to Birmingham or seen Villa in the flesh, but the internet and me frequenting the dodgy corners of it has made it possible for me to see almost every game since David O'Leary (except for this season of course and for a period where I lived in South Africa and internet bundles cost a fortune). In my lifetime I've met 3 other Villa fans. They are quite rare!
  10. Alright, will have a look Yes, I load up the old CM'93 about once a year or so through DOSBox and play a few seasons. You can adjust CPU cycles to have the desired speed you want. Only drawback is that the quicker it goes the more sensitive is your mouse clicks. Has it's charm! That and CM Italia is the only game versions I get nostalgic about, but I still remember plenty of the saves over the years.
  11. Would be amazing! Sure you wanna give up your lucky shirt? Why the respect for foreign fans? I fell in love with Villa because of Dean Saunders. I was 10 and I think it was the year after that my brother gave me a floppy disc with CM'93 on. Dean Saunders, Dalian Atkinson, Paul McGrath, good times! I'll shelf the FGR-save until I can sport the proper attire and wear the shirt at the first game of the season, hehe! My local club is Florø Fotball. Currently in 2nd division, group 3, but will be playing in 1st Div next season. http://nr.soccerway.com/national/norway/2-divisjon/2016/group-3/r33859/
  12. Not gonna lie, I would love to be flaunting a Forest Green shirt at soccer practice among all the United & Chelsea fans!! But then I feel encourage to offer the same in return and go get you a shirt, scarf or something like that from my local club. It's a tiny 12k town that through lots of volunteer work and a few dedicated coaches have put roughly 10 years of great effort into developing young players which has resulted in the club just recently getting promoted to the 2nd highest tier, which is quite frankly a ridiculous achievment considering it's mostly local kids born and raised here.
  13. Hah, what do you have in mind? I'm tall and gangly, think Peter Crouch but slightly shorter and much more handsome. I just remember I did a St. Albans save too.. must have been FM13. Are there any Vanarama- National or Vanrama South clubs on the south coast from nice little cites? I can only find Eastbourne and Torquay. Is that a good places, awful.. something in between? Would like to manage a club from a cozy little town
  14. Oh, interesting. Lower league in England in the latter years I've done two Forest Green saves and one with Bromley. I always get a RL-crush on the clubs I manage as well, so I did follow their results for a while. I know nothing about the club or place though. I know they had an relativly new stadium with artificial surface and an ambitious owner around that time, but haven't kept myself informed.
  15. Damn, looking through the screenshots from that save the new-gens actually looked good and human-like. What happened?
  16. Hehe! I can never jump from club to club as I get so attached to the team and the players. I usually speed through the league on the back of a wicked good tactic. Still find it fun though, I sometimes wish I could just stick to the bog standard formations that makes progression a bit slower. I had the best of saves with Forest Green on FM14. In the very first year I got a new-gen through the academy called Cole Hamer. Just 15 year old, but already good enough to be involved in the 1st team. In the next two season he became one of my best player. By the time he was 18 he was captain, he eventually captained England U-21 and amazingly he became England captain in his later years. When he retired I couldn't resist and decided to check his PA. He wasn't a world beater, but had in the 150-155 range, can't remember exactly. Crazy for academy player from non-league! Here he is in his prime! <3 I think I've posted about him before, but I get all nostalgic thinking about it.
  17. Yeah, when you can get invested in a challenging long term project on FM it's the best experience the game can offer IMO. I'm pondering whether I should start with English lower league or do something I haven't done, like managing in the Czech or Polish league.
  18. Been experimenting with a narrow 433. Attacking/highly structured. Seems very powerful and game-breaking, winning every game with 4/5 goals.
  19. I see.. well, micro-management will give you small advantages but also soak up your time. Like press-conferences.. they are riddled with traps, where you very rarely receive a boost and very often, if you don't know the traps, make your players into nervous wrecks or complacent scoundrels. Perhaps best to delegate that to the ass man, unless you want to spend the time trying to understand that. Team-talks are extremly important and that is something you'd be better off trying to understand. As for tactics, if you have a close look you can probably see immediately if something works or not. Realize that fluidity makes a difference, but not to a large degree. Some things are situational, like a striker having an off day, or a defender making mistakes... those things are usually down to moral, team talk, form, complacency or pressure. And other things are situational in the sense of your teams form, the other teams form, odds, home/away, tactic vs tactic and probably lots of other stuff. Basically if you want to play the same way every game and win every time you need a tactic that exploit the match engine. If you don't have that, you should try to adapt to each game. But back to the point... if you look at a match or two with extended or comprehensive highlights in 2D-mode you will easily notice patterns, such as where the other team is finding space and breaking through, and where you are successful or perhaps more importantly where your build-up play is failing. Some things are not obvious from the stats, but will be easily visible in highlights. If you make a tactic where every player in possession have passing options close by, then you are doing things right. So i.e be careful to use an appropriate max of defensive, supportive and attacking roles.
  20. Are you new to the FM-series @Raver50032? Tips... don't know where to start. Depends if you're just playing casually or really into it One thing that I enjoy a lot and find to be very important over time is recruiting and tutoring so that you have a squad with good personalities. I find professionalism to be the most important trait for ability development, ease of managing and motivating the players. So I always look to sign professional senior players and use them to tutor younger players. Professionalism is a hidden attribute but can be deduced by their personality description, media-handling and determination. Some personalities are obvious (professional, fairly professional, etc) but some are not. Here's a very complicated guide: https://community.sigames.com/topic/247494-the-ultimate-personalitymedia-handling-guide/ I have a Excel-sheet where you can just put in the values and get back the info. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ne067clfrp3rftk/AABhu0eH5fmI2KsMJ9I_hwGna?dl=0 You can also notice a players professionalism by how they react to training workload. Basically if a player complain about high workload or amount of individual training you can be sure he has low professionalism, and by the same logic, if you assign him high workload training and he doesn't complain he has a high rating. If you develop a professional squad personality (check on club overview to see squad personality) you will get a hint on every coach- and scout report regarding how high the players professionalism is (something like "Our squad is a professional one and [player name] personifies this / fits in well / has a lot of adapting to do / etc). Every "phrase" in this report represents a range from 1-20 in regards to that trait. So if you know how to you can gain a fairly significant advantage in just a couple of seasons. Ambition is the other really important attribute, but it does have it's drawbacks.. like the player wanting to move on at the first sign of interest from a better side, and complaining about the status quo, whatever that may be. But basically if you can get a squad will professional and ambitious players they will develop very quickly towards their potential, will be very easy to motivate and they will give you very little trouble in management (unless they possess a very poor value in other negative traits like temperament, sportsmanship, etc)
  21. I'd make a bug report. It might be a league specific issue, or certain things are unbalanced (like aggression/bravery or hidden traits like dirtiness, sportsmanship, etc). Just save every match with a red card or too many yellows and attach them in the post.
  22. Wow, @DK82, you seem to get the worst treatment from this game this year. I can only recall having 2 red cards in 2 seasons. Are they just average player in normal non-aggressive roles? I've seen a few complaints and one bug post on the subject. But for every one with the issues, there's a bunch that haven't noticed anything.
  23. I kinda thought it sounded like a great challenge... getting screwed over, I know, but it's still possible, especially if you can get rid of a couple of useless high earners.
  24. That doesn't seem right @Paddywhack. Well, it does make sense, but I think the board should be allowed to invest up to a certain amount to avoid the issue. Unless I'm misunderstanding it.. it is quite confusing. When did that message appear? The board "invested" £24m on my save in December the first season.. but I did lower the wage cost of around £150k by selling/loaning out players in the 1st transfer window. Maybe spending the budget is a bad thing in this case?
